Have you ever seen, My Boy Jack. A television film based on David Haig's 1997 play of the same name for ITV. It was filmed in August 2007, with David Haig as Rudyard Kipling and Daniel Radcliffe as John Kipling. My Boy Jack is based on the 1997 play by English actor David Haig. It tells the story of Rudyard Kipling and his grief for his son, John, who died in the First World War. The title comes from Kipling's poem of the same name.
Kiplings wife's 3 sisters had amazing input in their lifetime in politics and the arts. They're well worth looking at. There's a book called A Circle of Sisters that tells of their life and influences
During her childhood, the father of Kiplings wife was a Methodist in Bewdley Worcestershire. The Methodist movement was forging demands for a more equal society and a break from the status quo, symbolised by the Church of England. Through Kiplings wife's sister, the family became involved with the Pre-Raphaelite art and Arts & Crafts movement. Skills of craftsmanship, that many at the time, felt were being lost by industrialisation. The artist Burne-Jones married one of Kiplings sister in laws, another married the head of the Royal Academy of arts l think and the 3rd sister in laws created ripples on UK politics. Each of the sisters is as worthy as Kipling is to their own video! I've often wondered if it was the women who pushed their husband and sons achievements or if they were inconsequential in the successes. @theperambulators
@@theperambulators you opened Pandoras Box with this video. The tiny All Saints church, Wilden, near Bewdley, has a Burn- Jones stained window that's well worth a look at. The Birmingham industrialist, Alfred Baldwin (father of Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin) commissioned the window, Baldwin was a relative of Kipling.
There was a huge art movement in Birmingham abd art training collages, such as the one in Margaret St. The movement was driven by the industrialists who wanted to construct the art in jewellery, statues and ornamentation for building. Most of the statues on impressive London buildings were designed and made in Victorian Birmingham.
A real home to grow up in who you become as you grow home full of love
