Director: We need ideas on how to successfully end this anime! Paid Editor: How about we take things slow? We go by the manga and have a few switch ups from time to time. That way it'll be more of a build up and- Director: That is the worst idea I have ever heard, you're fired. Random guy: How about we make a slideshow? Director: Genius! Absolutely brilliant! You're hired!
@mew Yeah, arcs like Goldy Pond, The 7 Walls, and a few more that my brain can’t remember would be a nightmare to animate. And the internal dialogue is the thing that makes all the characters special. I feel so bad for the staff and the mangaka because it’s obvious that they were forced to rush it to it’s finally. Honestly Rest In Peace TPN, we’ll miss you.
A bit late, but I think its not only because they didn’t like what they made, but also, since the community already hated it since the first 5 eps, no one will want to create more episodes just for people to continue hating on it
I also don't like what they did to Ray's character, he's like... just there. they didn't even mention the fact that he's Isabella's son, like, she didn't even look at him, and it was such a huge twist in the first season, I thought it would be more relevant. Her betrail also came out of nowhere, in the begining os the season she looked ready to sell all the kids and then sudely she helped them, like...
I kinda saw her betrayal a mile away. In S1 when you get her backstory, you know she really loved all of them. And she really never wanted to hurt them. She just wanted them to have the best life possible before they are shipped. Knowing this, I had a feeling she would betray the demons. The problem was execution. There was no build up to anything. When Isabella is put in charge. She doesn't do anything. She could have been just a grunt with a gun. Would not have made a difference. It's just implied that she convinced the momas off screen. And that's it. So very underwhelming twist. And yeah. The fact that she seems to love Emma more then her own Son (like every character in the show who just worships her for no good reason). That was down right insulting
i heard somewhere that ray was supposed to be killed off. that makes the rest of the story make more sense as ray isn't that important of a character there.
What? Ray was isabella's son? Was that in the anime? My main concern is actually Phil's uninvolvement in the anime. There was a theory in film theory by matpat that I support that Phil was kind of the mastermind. As he pointed, (which is very cool btw), the manga and season 1 used the panels as point of view. Meaning like in season 1 when they are playing tag, You can see the camera from the bushes. Later on, Phil decided to emerge from the bushes which kind of hinted that that POV was actually Phil's Eyes. On manga, there were POV at Ray and Emma talking and then a few panels after, Phil emerged from that direction which indicated that it was his. This lead to the theory that Phil was really active and know more than what is shown in manga and anime. The book cover also tells a lot. In the books, all children was looking at one side and the one who knows the plan for escape, Ray, Emma, the other 3 older ones look at the other direction. Oh, did I mention that among all the younger kids, Phil is the only on looking at Emma's direction? There's a lot of subtle interpretations in the Manga which was also in the season 1 of the anime then they decided to scrap it hoping to do something better than what the original author wants. Imagine a company having a deal with Apple and made a new cellphone but instead of apple, they decided to put ORANGE as a logo and claim it theirs. That's what happened in this one. It's legally stealing. It's like those parody videos where you take a clip of something and make a new complete series out of it but only using the title as a bait since it's popular.
dude Yugo sitting in that room eating biscuits is THE MOST iconic pannel of the manga, along with the one where they find the first dead little girl seeing the room empty just hurts so bad.... flat out just thanos snap out of existence my favorite character in the series.... they did my boy Yugo so dirty T.T
They also never went back to: - Sonju literally saying that he can't wait to eat wild humans (which is so important considering he was taking care of all of those kids for a couple days) - The secret that the demon whispered to Isabella's ear when she was in prison (the demon was going to kill her, but said he would spare her if she brought all of the kids back and then whispered another thing she would be rewarded with) - THEY NEVER TALKED ABT THOSE SOLDIERS THAT RAIDED THE SHELTER? YOU'RE TELLING ME SOLDIERS WITH GUNS WERE DEFEATED BY LITTLE KIDS WITH BOWS AND ARROWS????? - They never talked more about Ray being Isabella's son, one of the biggest plot twists in the show. - They also made Phil seem so important, I was expecting a whole episode (at least) dedicated to him making a plan with the other kids to escape, since he seemed like Emma v2. - They never talked about the guy with a paper bag over his head, or the room that had scribbles on the walls (Yuugo's room in the manga). - There was also no emotion when Peter killed himself, like when Isabella apologized to the children, his body and blood just disappeared lol. - Also they forgave Isabella so easily??? I just feel bad for the animators who are so underpaid and making barely enough money to live, spending hours away from their family to make something to make they believed would be good. I need to know how the producers sleep at night knowing they did this.
Sister Krone also mentioned "Have you heard of Him? No? I'll tell you about Him next time you visit." or something of the sort. Him, reffering to the man from the 7 walls. The statue as well, in the little temple they were staying in.
It makes me so upset how they just, never talked about Ray being Isabella's son after it was originally brought up. Did the other kids even know?? Or was it a secret between the two of them?? It makes no sense. Another thing somewhat related; in the manga, Isabella pulls out some note from Ray in like one of the short stories at the end but we never find out what the note says. Like hello?? What was on the note?? She says the note could destroy her, what did your 12 year old son write that could destroy you???
@@DamageMaximo Yes, but after they say it and season 1 ends it isnt brought up again at all in the following season. That was the point they were trying to make.
When sonju said he wanted to eat human flesh I thought he was gonna follow the kids secretly and then eat them afterwards, And then nothing happened.. He even helped the kids at the end with mujika lol.. I was so confused at that moment
The worst part for me was that slight bit of hope they hinted at when emma said she'd stay back, making you think it was gonna lead into a season 3 anime only story, only for it to wrap up everything with a powerpoint presentation
Yeah, in the preview the gate to the human world was shown and everyone in the comments was hyped up and thought there's going to be season three including me but that slideshow was like a huge slap in the face. Also, the knife Peter used to off himself was clean, no trace of blood, it's like blood proof or something, that scene made me wonder if they are mocking us and purposely trying to get on my nerves.
@@JoshQwerty that end montage too, of the various plot points. It was like them going 'oh hey there manga fans. You came here excited to see TPN animated, eh? PSYCH!!! But here, since we have 3min left over, have this slideshow of some of the events you thought you were going to see when tuning in. Take it or leave it cause it's all you're going to get."..... That is quite the dick move, there... That slide show ending was like they hawked up a loogie, spat in our faces, then took off running into the night(just like they covered their asses by removing the writing credits of EP. 10&11)
@@TheOutlawed1000 nah, that end montage...there was no need to do that after they rushed the season 2 ...that was just insulting to the fans, straight up
It's even more heartbreaking to realise how easily some of the problems could've been fixed. Don't oversimplify characters, don't make all stakes meaningless, focus more of character which you did at the beginning.
Reasons why I kinda disliked season 2: 1. They skipped my fav arc: Goldy Pond 2. They didn't add Yuugo or Lucas 3. They got reunited with Norman unbelievably fast 4. They didn't follow the manga they randomized the plot instead 5. Emma and Phil didn't get reunited in gracefield 6. Isabella didn't die
hopefully in the near future we can find out what really happened and who is to blame for how this season ended up... but either way i do feel bad for everyone that worked on it, since i cant imagine anyone of em is proud of this giant mess
@@sn5301679 neh, promised neverland is one of the biggest hit of jump in the past few years they still release special chapters about the story every few weeks even after it ended. i ts far from those as it can get
This was underwhelming everything in season 2 felt rushed they took out one of the best arcs and cut yugao who was a key character in TPN. Norman's reveal was also a let down look how they massacred my boy
They showed the spoiled cookies that he was supposed to be eating when they arrived. I think he was also that human that Mr. Vylk (the grandpa demon) ate
Opinion: The reason why the goldy pond arc was so good was because it was grounded and related to the previous setting which was a farm. The goldy pond arc is about hunting which is similar to farming just more brutal. But when they strive away from that then in just becomes lame.
@@emmalion1976I think he's just passionate about sharing the show with others, considering the anime went under the radar judging by how little traction the english trailers have.....
Emma not interacting with Asyhe was a huge opportunity both the Manga and Anime wasted. That would have added genuine weight as to why Emma doesn't want to kill the Demons. Because Ayshe existence show the potential compassion towards humans.
Literally I had this idea forever. Emma should've taken that decision after she meet Asyhe, and heck they should've added some plot while they were searching for the 7 walls about demon society. Maybe even use the ancestors more as to why humans and demons even coexist in the first place. It just hurts seeing so much potential wasted. Emma wanting to save demons just came out of the blue, especially after you read the first chapters of Goldy Pond arc when she looked so determined on killing them after she witnessed the hunts. The manga also shot itself in the foot by making Norman's plan too perfect. there were no consequences for the genocide besides the fact that the idea of it is bad which wasn't convincing for me at least, considering everything that happened prior. Not to mention things came conveniently to Norman as well by escaping Lambda so effortlessly. Idk, I think they should've wrote the manga in parts. end it after the Goldy Pond, then start a new with ideas already planned out and preferably have a whole part dedicated to the ancestors and their history. Wishful thinking but I can't help it.
@@blackcat80yearsago96 I like the Idea of ending the whole thing in goldy pond, with a high note of "and then the revolution started" and only go back to it if there was enough thought given to the story. It feels like a cautionary tale, like what could have happened with demon slayer after mugen train
I would have rather had them go completely anime original and write a cohesive story instead of them skipping 50+ chapters and speed running the ending :/
@@jhonnie6778 as someone who's now read this series. I can say popularity does not equal quality. Like SAO is popular but it isn't that good. MHA is just okay. Naruto is just okay. Shadows house is probably the second best manga I've ever read.
It's fucked up how they skipped tons of story just to get to the part where a lot of people think it started getting bad. And then they ended up doing that part even worse. What a world!
They marketed it as "anime only" but it was just a rushed version of the manga events. That's why when people were like "well stop comparing it." when I complained how badly the anime compared to the manga, it wasn't really a fair point to me because the anime was just taking things from the manga but making it worse. I honestly would've been up for a whole new story but they didn't do that.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Hellsing: ultimate Shaman king (2021) Soul Eater: resonance (please studio Bones make it happen!) Promised Neverland: childhood Game of thrones: murderhood
I adored the manga. I didn't really feel the need to watch the second season since I had read the entire series already. The other day I heard just how bad it was and had to check out some clips on UA-cam and just... wow. They changed everything about my favorite manga series, really disheartening.
If you want an extended version of TPN first arc then maybe you should try and read Shadows House. You might find it even better than TPN in terms of story, plot and the consistency of the horror/mystery aspec of the series.
I was so excited for Yuugo. He was by FAR my favorite part of this story outside of the opening Gracefield arc. As long as the anime did him justice, it could crash like the rest of the manga for all I cared. But instead of even trying, of even just... making him a carbon copy, they just... got rid of him. It was honestly devastating.
I remember when they first announced this season, and that they were going to "go original" I was actually excited. I remember writing pages upon pages of ideas in my notes app of how Lambda could have been the second, higher stakes Jailbreak arc, to call back to the first season, which would give us time to develop Norman's confidants. We would have yugo, time to explore the gracefield kids, etc. etc. My worst mistake was assuming they HAD time. Which they clearly did not
Lowkey wish they used your notes for the story instead. I was so excited too, especially after knowing the author is with the cast. I had so much hope it was going to get better next episode even after seeing Mister wasn't in the bunker, I kept hoping but they kept crushing it.
@@aperson2697 Same. I definitely held on to yugo theories for waaaay too long (^-^; Why show us the names of all these characters and leave a note behind if you're not going to follow through with it? My only guess is that it was used to string manga readers along.
when i was reading the Manga, i didn't know that the return to Grace field arc was the final one, so i managed to come up with a hypothesis that i was very convinced of, depending on how the demon in Grace field was out to kill Emma since she was the one how created the new promise, i have concluded that killing the person who created a promise will make it invalid, so when Raturi committed suicide the whole peace thing between the tow worlds ended, and with the previous knowledge that Sonju wanted to eat the kids, there you go, a whole arc in the overworld that has the vibes of the first three arcs, and combining the fear that will be created between the humans in the overworld, that will make the majority wants the kids to either go back or be killed, idk it was a twist that i really wanted to see, i was so disappointed when Sonju decided to not eat the kids for no fucking reason.
I wish so badly, that they would remake this entire adaptation ( aside from season 1 because it was a masterpiece). I pray that they would fix it, but I know it would never happen.
You know why I feel so much pain? Not because Promised Neverland is bad. It's not. Yes it has issues and very serious ones, but it's still a pretty nice story, like 6 or 7 out of 10. I feel pain because it could have been 10 EASILY. When I first started reading it, I was blown away by its setting and mysteries, I've felt that way since I was 8 reading Harry Potter. It was such a unique and interesting story- kids vs demons, masterpiece in the making people will talk about for years! And yet... meh. That's okay. Emma doesn't even need to sacrifice anything, everything just happens and deus ex machinas here and there to help her. I critiqued this series in the past not because I hate it, but because I wanted it to be so much better. This is the same issue I've had with Gantz and few other stories- incredible idea, amazing start, okay development and god-awful ending.
It’s true, I feel like if it did a little bit better, or if some parts were not as rushed it could have possibly gotten close to being as good as AOT (which until recently I hadn’t seen any of attack on Titan, and by god, what a masterpiece (I just finished season 3 so one more to go))
@Madison Francis Glad to hear you've gotten into Shingeki no Kyojin!! It really is such a magnificent series. And I agree-I definitely saw the parallels in the 2 shows. And it felt like Promised Neverland wanted a more hopeful take, perhaps, but really cut corners to get there. And I had really loved the first season and was very excited about the second one, as well. I've already watched the longer video about the manga, and now I'm glad I waited on the anime. Why? Because I would've been confused and then gutted with the changes (how the anime removed so much!), plus the manga itself probably wouldn't have been the best use of time. It's really unfortunate.
The plot was so DIFFERENT and Amazing for me. I didn't expect The promised Neverland to be something like this. A sweet, loving mom, happy kids and a starting filled with happy times to have a BIG plot twist. I was really impressed. The plot twists were totally unpredictable. I though The Promised Neverland might be another boring classic anime. The season 1 was too amazing for me and the way they just tortured season 2, I wanna sue them.
Oh god not the gantz It has amazing ideas, creative monster, good lore, and variation of characters. The story is simple: you died, here's a MIB job to get your life back, get points based on your mission and if you don't want to life back you can exchange it for better weapons and keep fighting like a doom slayer. The characters isn't just normal human, there's vampire and physic guy. But oh boy the ending is just terrible. It also has TONS of plot holes. It's not that I care, but it feels a miss potential to use it in story. I found it from a gacha game collab and it's one of my fav manga ideas if not for the plot holes and stupid ending
In an interview right after S1 ended, the director already confirmed that they were going anime original, even though there was no need to. The manga is already complete. They gave the excuse that the ending was disliked, but all they needed to do was slow the pacing down and fill in the manga's holes. Instead they rushed the anime at quadruple the speed of the manga. I'm convinced that CloverWorks only brought in Shirai at the last minute for damage control and just for him to do nothing but tell what plot points they need forcibly and lazily shoehorn in at the last minute. I doubt Shirai would ever have allowed this to happen if CloverWorks gave him real authority when he did everything the anime did infinitely better. I feel so bad for Shirai. Not only did CloverWorks ruin his story, but they ruined it while spoiling it in the process. I wouldn't be surprised if Shirai demanded a remake. This is just an unacceptable adaptation.
@@Unknown-oc1kt Either the gender, the author was 1,000% brought in as a scapegoat to forcibly and lazily shoehorn in whatever plot points they missed at the last second.
Also in an 2019 interview, one of the producers said "So right now we are working on the 2nd season of The Promised Neverland, and the original manga is still ongoing. For the first season we stayed true to the story of the manga, we left the story more or less unchanged, but in the 2nd season I think we're going to have more flexibility in how we portray the story that's in the manga. Of course we can't say for sure how that is going to work because we're still working on it, none of it is quite fixed for the moment so there is a chance we will deviate from the manga but we can't say for sure yet." They were working on it already while the manga is still ongoing, the author is working on the manga while they work on the anime, so I also don't think the author is involved when they were making the changes.
It's frustrating that Jump can give the order and ruin your entire story, but the anime could have had a chance to retell it... I wonder what happened.
Because Shueisha was the producer/investor holding the purse strings....and Shueisha is also Jump, who had axed TPN manga and wanted to boost sales for the last few manga volumes so they made a manga commercial that they claimed was a s2 anime, to do just that.
@@kittykat896 Shueisha is not to blame here.Season 1 of tpn did not sell well and cloverworks decied to not do anymore past season 2, hence season 2 being rushed. Also I do not think manga was axed sales and toc positions were good. The manga droped in quality way before the final arc
@@apbeat9455 Shueisha is in the TPN Committee along with Aniplex. They produced ie invested in this project and hold the purse strings, controlling the written script and allocated money which they hired Cloverworks with. Cloverworks is just an animation studio and don't have the ability to make executive decisions. Nor is their involvement due to desire for an anime they think will make a lot of DVD sales because they aren't reliant on DVD sales since they aren't producers. Aniplex is and yes they didn't want to invest much and didn't want the series to keep going. They did help write the script and we're ok with Shueisha butchering it but only later after a certain point. Why? They made sure the first few episodes adapted the manga source more in hopes it would boost S1 DVD sales from hyped excited fans watching season 2. Cloverworks though are just an animation studio that takes whatever projects they get hired to do. They aren't investors, they're paid staff. SJ axed TPN when that investment started to stagnate and dip in sales in later volumes (SJ will axe a series with very little time to wrap up hence why the speed run in the last few chapters; they only gave the manganka a few chapters to wrap it all up and the lackluster response to the later half of the manga is why sales dipped but it was only in the last few chapters where the manga content suddenly turns into a huge rush ahead to the end cause that is when they got the final order to finish it up, and only in so-and-so amount of space/weeks) This is the reason why they axed it quick and invested the smallest amount of funds they could to adapt this season 2 project. Why? Because them investing a small amount leading to a shitty adaptation makes manga sales in their previous manga investment that stagnated, boost which garners higher net profit returns, while at the same time a new invested manga serialization that took it's place in SJ mag, would've had enough time to start gathering a fan base which will get a fresh batch of profit returns. And part of the end push for profit in TPN is supposed to help carry into the time that's needed for the new investment that took it's place, to start garner a profit for itself. That way no amount or the less amount of time there is, where there's not a continuous growth of profit accumulation.
The first season was simply epic. Every moment was tense and you always had the clear goal in mind: escape Grace Field House. The second season somehow managed to destroy everything they build up. I wanted to know about Lambda and on and on but it all came down to: oh hey we gotta go back to the gate, conveniently pick everyone up without issue. To add insult to injury we get slapped in the face with that time jump in the last 20 seconds. What a letdown...
And also the time skip just happened, like Emma had a whole new hair style. In the manga there was this one scene where sandy gave Emma two clips to hide her cut off ear, but in the anime she just had it. When I saw that I was very sad.
I haven't seen the s2 anime, but the "Norman sickness cured" contrivance *seems* (despite being very stupid) somehow LESS stupid than the manga Lambda test subject "seizures" that became a plot point for all of 8 seconds that were going to kill Norman and his fellow Lambdas but HEY Adam doesn't have them so maybe we can find a cure from him! and then they literally never mention it again or even go through any process to cure it lol
Honestly anime basically does the same thing. Norman and Lambda crew are gonna die, old man has key, map reveals the cure and that's it. We never actually see them get it or take it
the manga makes more sense because if you experiment on something there will be some sucesses , is it convenient? Yes, but it makes more sense than some random dude has the cure
@@kameronrogers4000 Actually, in the powerpoint presentation, in one of the slides we actually have a frame of norman and victor playing chess, and Norman getting (what I pressume is) the cure. Still shit tho.
I think so too, because (spoilers if you haven't read the manga, because I'm going to reference something from that and I didn't watch the anime so I don't know if they said that there) they said that they ate the demons they killed. ATE them. That alone shows that just because Norman switched sides doesn't explain how their hate for the demons just went away.
12:27 Amazon is developing a Promise Neverland live-action tv series. My hunch is that CloverWorks were pressured to rush the anime adaptation so it wouldn’t overlap with the upcoming series which is being financed by a much larger/powerful media entity.
Promised Neverland Season 2 is a currently recognized bandwagon amongst anyone who watches anime videos. The title expresses a strong opinion in language even a UA-cam bot could understand.
same. although after watching this video i'm surprised that season two is basically everything from after the escape till the end of the show. that's a lot of cut content

I watched season 1 and then continued in the manga. I absolutely love it, one of my favorite stories. I adore the goldy pond arc and Yuugo really grew onto me. But I couldn't even finish season 2 because I was so pissed. Ugh all the excitement completely destroyed
I would prefer to have only two seasons adapted rather than a season of *t h i s* Edit: I also am kinda sad that we never get to know how to pronounce "his" name, or as Lowart called him, Mr. Scribbles.
@VinceSM the soul eater anime tone changed too drastically in the anime original parts and I thought the way they ended the final fight was silly. But that's just me of course.
The best anime original end was probably Kekkai Sensen season 1 (blood blockade battlefront). It does help that that series is more episodic than most anime but even still, the overarching story of both Black and White is great and despite being anime original characters, both are very well developed.
The ending 'slideshow' raised many questions; which became frustrations. I thought I'd consider picking up the manga since the fanbase says it's better. After watching this I'm not sure about continuing with this series.
What bothers me the most about this season is that there are weirdos on the internet that actually enjoyed this anime and call it better than the manga.
The only explanation for why this season ended up like this that makes any sense to me is that; *aliens showed up at CloverWorks, killed everyone working on this show and continued the production as undercover agents.* This thing left me absolutely dumbfounded.
There is a simpler explanation. The second half of manga is shit and the anime would not have gotten a third season. So they could have either adapt the Goldy Pond arc and leave the story unfinished, or finish the story by any means necessary.
@@emmalion1976 It is, Emma gets to be with her family in the end (she doesn't remember them but she "feels like she wanted to see them" (which is BS, as it implies she DOES remember them)) Also, she Talks-Jutsu her way out of every conflict in the second half
@@TheManInTheRedHat come on, try to have some hope! We’re already getting a live action series, if that’s successful maybe we could get some more animated stuff too!
No way...Many people didn’t like manga ending and criticized the author. So he had no confidence for full adaptation of anime. So he made it short cut.And manga is the real source of income.Anime doesn’t give that much profit. So this is the happy ending
You say your video is "disorganized" but i find that quite fitting cause season 2 promise neverland is even MORE disorganized. Watching season 2 almost gave me the exact same feeling when watching the final season of Game of Thrones. Owh God
the fact that they could've made an entire season out of that powerpoint slideshow bugs me so much. there was the queen and royal shit, the "promise", meeting the kids norman saved, saving the mass produced farm children, etc etc that could've been made into a whole season. a movie, at least. but they didnt.
Man and its so sad too because I was like "oh, its going to deviate from the manga a little, im interested to see where this goes!" And then it's just.... actual trash LMAO It's such a shame too because the story, while having some issues, had some good stuff in it, and was easy to fix! I just don't understand why they made the changes they did
The last episode was dogshit. Just so, so bad and rushed. I was so disappointed with season 2. The last few minutes of episode 11 was basically a power point presentation.
i read the manga after ep5 and at one point in the manga they say smth like “if we dont get this guy (aka yuugo) on our side, our chances of survival are close to none” so i literally screamed “THEN WHY WOULD YOU WRITE HIM OUT”
If you want an extended version of TPN first arc then maybe you should try and read Shadows House. You might find it even better than TPN in terms of story, plot and the consistency of the horror/mystery aspec of the series..
Lowart you are the best FMA 2003 defender on UA-cam and I can't appreciate it enough, I can't stand this trash season being compared to something actually good as a negative
They could’ve fixed the manga ending and made this anime perfect all the way but they threw all of it in the trash for no reason at all. One of the most disappointing shows I’ve ever seen.
Watching the anime made me cry, not because it was sad or beautiful, but because it was so horribly shit. And despite some major issues with manga, I enjoyed it because I read it after the anime, and it just felt so much better
Can we really call it dissapointing when the studio gave up making it and simply rushed right through it because they lost the money. There was good effort...they did made a pretty good Power Point presentation of what a happy final episode could have been.
Did Norman die after the anime? Because he was dying from a disease he had and part of the reason why they invaded headquarters was to find the cure, but the cure was never brought up again afterwards. My head cannon is that right after the last scene Norman just just dies right there
*Mild Spoilers* The way I see it they should've kept this season up until the next time skip. That way the events at Goldy Pond and the characters in there would be included. Thid would also mean the studios plate wouldn't be full of so much stuff and so by that point a 3rd season could be made and that's where the manga started to go downhill so the studio now that they have less stuff to deal with could make a separate story. That way season 3 would end in the way the Anime would want it and not take the direction that the manga did.
When i was watching the anime i thought exactly the same when they said that they would stay in the demon world. I was a little disappointed at the end.
I have heard a lot of rumours saying the creators got told to hurry up and end the manga which shows - sadly common in the manga industry- so when I saw this season 2 was going at it differently I was hopeful that the creators might get to end it how they wanted to, heck maybe they could even get a 3rd season to properly end the story. But sadly no, it seems what plagued them in the manga industry followed them to the anime industry
The only thing worse than not having a season 2 of a great anime is getting a terrible season 2 and never being able to renew it.😢😢😢😢 If you can't do it right, don't do it at all.... The wait is always worth it...
More people need to be talking about this... like I'm anime only and even I had problems with the way they were pacing the show, the second season is just a major let down to what a thrilling first season.... hopefully one day we get a full metal alchemist redo of it
I left s2 on the back of my "plan to watch" shelf since I did read the manga, but hearing this I don't think I need to bother. Sounds like they cut the parts I enjoyed while emphasizing on those I didn't.
Yeah but saying is “horrible” and “very bad” is over reacting don’t get me wrong I understand but when I say I like it people try to convince me it’s bad or I should read the manga BUT I DID tbh everyone hyped goldy pond SO GODAMN MUCH and I was exited to read it and i didn’t like it as much as I should
Apparently they decided to go with this whole semi-anime original ish approach because they weren't happy with how the manga ended which is fair as it seems that the author rushed it. But instead of "improving" it, i think they just tried to make it "cleaner". I believe the main reason they remove the whole goldy pond arc was to not make the story too convoluted even tho their sacrificing one of the best arcs in the entire series, doing this means that they don't have to deal with introducing all those kids from the goldy pond arc which gives them a much lower amount of people to work with and to develop. Following the core structure of the story whilst not deviating too much and introducing too much plot points in the story. On paper it seems fine and understandable to do. But i think they misjudged what exactly caused the downfall of the manga and they tried to introduce something that they thought would seem natural to implement in the plot and everyone would be fine with it, but they never bothered to fix the already existing issues that they were trying to fix in the first place that would led them to the desired ending that they want. And this might be a hunch, but i think they might have realized this at the end bit of this adaptation which what caused the whole ppt presentation of an ending... So in the end, i think the author was too overwhelmed with the convoluted storyline she created in the manga, introducing way too much characters that she can't possible develop and explore them all, and i think she realized that at some point, with time against her, she had to just end it there and i guess she wanted to fix it all in the anime. So she made it extremely clean here removing all the stuffs that made the story too complicated but she completely dodged all the other issues in the story. So instead of actually trying to fix the story, she and the studio just erased everything that they thought were causing issues. Unfortunately, it didn't went so convenient for them as it did for emma.... Just a thought to share ^•^
Fans: so are you guys going to fix each of the plot points and actually take your time in developing each of the concepts and characters in a more thorough and proper manner? Author and studio: nah, were just going to completely remove what caused those issues in the first place, then were just gonna have it all conveniently play out so that we can hopefully create a more cleaner and natural storyline.. Fans: wait, so you guys would just rather completely erase the issues rather than fixing it? Isn't that kind of lazy? Also isn't the story being too convenient one of the biggest issues of the manga anyway? Author and studio: wait, it was? Fans: what? Author and studio: wHaT??? *and thus, the slideshow ending was born cause they fucked themselves*
In a 2019 interview, one of the producers said "So right now we are working on the 2nd season of The Promised Neverland, and the original manga is still ongoing. For the first season we stayed true to the story of the manga, we left the story more or less unchanged, but in the 2nd season I think we're going to have more flexibility in how we portray the story that's in the manga. Of course we can't say for sure how that is going to work because we're still working on it, none of it is quite fixed for the moment so there is a chance we will deviate from the manga but we can't say for sure yet." They were working on it already while the manga is still ongoing, the author is working on the manga while they work on the anime, so I don't think the author is involved when they were making the changes. And the manga hasn't even reached the ending yet they were already deciding to deviate from it.
Haven’t watched one of your videos in quite a while and I have to say the way you’re talking, the projection and inflections in your voice are different. They’re more hyped but feel more natural of someone who makes these kinds of videos. It’s not so cold and calculated that it feels like only a die hard fan could understand where you’re coming from. Phrases like “forty minute chonky boy” really help keep what you’re doing alive, so to speak. Keep it up.
3:38 I had literally the same thought! "Huh, where's the old dude? Did he appear later or do they just shuffle some things around?" and was really confused.
This season was such a let down, and they could’ve easily avoided this if they stuck with the manga and changed what went wrong within the manga, plot holes, and other flaws to make this season a near damn masterpiece
I've heard others theorize about what happened. The one theory that made sense to me was that they were ordered to end the story within the season. If that is the case, I kinda understand why they had to do it like this. Yeah it does feel very very rushed but they tried to keep events in the manga relevant still. Yeah the "slideshow" didnt make sense but they kinda just put it to show us that they still happened even if they didnt have time for it.
Ok so I just finished your teen titans videos. I subscribed. I'm going to watch the rest of the channel starting with Avatar the last air bender. I would absolutely start supporting your patreon the day you did TMNT 2003. I just watched it for the first time in my life on Paramount+. You would have so much to talk about character development, lessons, and themes. Right up your alley. Cheers you put alot of work into these.
If anything, Neverland S2 is more comparable to Tokyo Ghoul Root A, where it intertwines anime original content with a rushed version of the ideas and stories present in the manga to make a vaguely original yet vaguely adapted ending where all sorts of deviations have occurred at odd intervals while the production values tank below the first season. I've never heard the FMA comparison before for S2 until now, and yeah, it's bonkers when everyone already has Root A right there to use. The only major difference is that Root A covered the end of TG's first manga so that it can eventually get 2 more seasons to rush through the TG:re manga. Neverland doesn't have a continuation, and it probably shouldn't get one.
Even if this season 2 was a good adaptation I still wouldn't bother with considering how bad the manga goes later. I'm happy just stopping at S1 and having it left open ended
Season 2 could've been as much of a masterpiece as season 1, but they decided to f*ck it all up and basically tell us to read the manga if we want a good story, the anime was not just an adaptation of the manga, it was a god damn demo of it
I completely agree with literally EVERYTHING you said. And something that I've been holding onto and have a hope of is that they make a season 3. I know it sounds ridiculous and could possibly never happen but I really do believe that the slide show in the finale has a greater significance. The slideshow could either be a very horrible ending or a set up (more of a preview) for another season. I kid you not I saw a tik tok of an anime only saying, "wait, what even was the promise they made at the end?" and that got me thinking, poor anime only's have no idea what happened!!! Like, I genuinely feel bad and I hope that a season 3 would just cover all of that!

Wasn't it somekind of masterpiece the manga?
In the manga they get a really tiny moment (and an extra chapter dedicated to Isabella)
That basically happens to Ray in the manga too lmao
i heard somewhere that ray was supposed to be killed off. that makes the rest of the story make more sense as ray isn't that important of a character there.

When I saw no yuugo or Lewis I just now it's not worth to watch any further.
Your day was ruined for that?! That's stupid lol
They also never went back to:
- Sonju literally saying that he can't wait to eat wild humans (which is so important considering he was taking care of all of those kids for a couple days)
- The secret that the demon whispered to Isabella's ear when she was in prison (the demon was going to kill her, but said he would spare her if she brought all of the kids back and then whispered another thing she would be rewarded with)
- THEY NEVER TALKED ABT THOSE SOLDIERS THAT RAIDED THE SHELTER?
She says the note could destroy her, what did your 12 year old son write that could destroy you???
in season 1 it's obvious Ray is Isabella's son, bruh, they even say it
@@DamageMaximo Yes, but after they say it and season 1 ends it isnt brought up again at all in the following season. That was the point they were trying to make.

Oh god not the gantz
It has amazing ideas, creative monster, good lore, and variation of characters.

The manga droped in quality way before the final arc
the anime was the chance to retell it, the autor was involved.................
@@johanvasquez4564 no he wasn't. They threw his name in at the last minute as damage control knowing that shit was about to hit the fan
We never actually see them get it or take it
Nah, it's the same
the manga makes more sense because if you experiment on something there will be some sucesses , is it convenient? Yes, but it makes more sense than some random dude has the cure

The way I see it they should've kept this season up until the next time skip.

@@rivo3 There is no should though when it comes to enjoying something. If you like it, enjoy it.
