Hey this is amazing!! I am with the edexcel board and was wondering if you can add in a video for polyesters and reaction with 2.4-dinitro phenylhydrazine :)
Hey so I'm doing the new syllabus, edexcel and I'm wondering if you have a playlist for it as well? In organic chemistry, spectroscopy and chromatography are.included and I cant find it.
Why is the reaction of the ester with NaOH considered a hydrolysis if no water is involved in the reaction? Also i love your videos i share them with my chem mates all the time :)
Hi i was wondering if could tell me where you purchased that size whiteboard from and how much does it cost as i really need one thanks if possible the link of the website
The only mechanisms you need to know for AQA in relation to esters are acylation reactions. E.g. Acid Chlorides reaction with Alcohols - ua-cam.com/video/mfXjPT9J5Sc/v-deo.html
Sounds good however I don't think I have a board big enough. It may be better suited to a crib sheet instead. It is a something I am looking into making and linking with the videos. Organic synthesis is another topic difficult to depict in video form. It's just trying to find the time to do it. I get next to no income for this so I can't dedicate much time to it unfortunately.
The carboxylic acid gives away H+ and alcohol gives OH- but I've seen other people on UA-cam say the carboxylic acid gives OH- and alcohol gives H+!!! Which one is the correct one ? Please tell me🙏🙏🙏
I honestly can't thank you enough!! I'm in year 13 and your videos are a lifesaver! :)
not needed in the end aye haha
Doesn’t the oh group from carboxylic gets displaced rather than the oh from alcohol?
I have my mock tomorrow and I’m crying
Doesn't the oxygen come from the alcohol? I think the acid gives its OH and the alcohol the H
Thank you very much. This was really helpful for my studies.
Absolutely phenomenal

all hail chemistry!!! .. =D greetings from the philippines .. hehe!! ..
An international audience! Thanks!
you're welcome dude! ..
The greatest to ever to ever do it

i think its because NaOH is usually as an aqueous solution, the pure compound is a solid so has to be dissolved in order to react w the liquid ester

Heh. Yes I got it from Costco. There is one near where I live but you have to be a member to shop there.
amazing video👍
Thank you 👍
you are the fucking best. dont let anyone tell you different. your spot is in heaven
can you make it showing the mechanisms
I'll look into it. Which exam board are you using out of interest?
aqa

can you make a seperate video covering all the mechanisms needed for the whole chemistry a level?

Could you have ethyl ethanoate with the same formula?
Great video!
+Ahmad Shirzai Thanks very much. Please spread the word.

How come esters can hydrogen bond?
thank you very much very clear!
love it
i think alcoholz only give hydrogen,. the carboxyl gives hydroxel forming water but the oxygen that has single bondate on each carbon is the alcohol's
thx alot
Thankyou!!
the bridging oxygen is from the alcohol bro.
thank you!
You're welcome!

thx alot
