Love black eye peas this cook up looks delicious, will definitely try this version with all those nice spices & keep bringing us more dishes & flavors. Good luck for 2022 🙏👍
Excellent statement about sauteeing the aromatics. That's how it's done in the northern islands (Bahamas, Cuba, Haiti, etc.) Tomato or tomato paste may be "fried down"/"sofrito" with onion, sweet pepper, etc.
Badawi. I have already down loaded and shared the book. Zina must be very proud. This black eyed peas and rice looks and i know tastes fantastic. Doing this for Friday. Did not know about the oil
I went to my local bureau en gros got it printed and made it into a book to put with my collection of favorite books. Wish I was able to share here the outcome!!...🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🤝🌹🌹🌹🌹
I wish I saw your recipe sooner. I made my black eye peas pelau and I had to add more seasonings to bring it up to what I like. I thought of the same ingredients you used. I will follow your receipe next time. Have a wonderful, safe and BLESSED New Year.
In Guyana. Ohh yea it's black eye peas cook-up with plenty meat. Old year's night is a must that a pot of cook up rice is cooked, so that at midnight food is in found the pot, it the belief that once food is in your pot the next year you will always have food. This is our tradition.
Happy New Year Baidawi and EAF family! 🥳 I'm excited to try the recipes in the ebook in 2022 God willing. I learned so much from you guys in 2021. All the best 👌
Beautiful looking BEP and rice! I cook a lot and try new recipes often, but I’m always hesitant to cook with coconut milk/cream because I’m not sure if I’ll like it. So now I have a little dilemma: Do your recipe as is because I’m pretty sure it’ll be delish🙂, or use vegetable stock instead as I normally do.🤔
Hello, what can I replace the ‘rookoo’ with? I do not have access to that where I live. I don’t happen to like black eye peas but I’m willing to try this recipe because it looks really nice. Be safe and take care ! Happy new year!
My bredren. All the best to you and the family. Seeing that you enjoying the sister isle. Good vibes! I have you covered with beats man. Will definitely send you some tracks. Keep making great content. Wishing you good health and continued success in 2022. All the best my brother.
Happy New year badawi! 🎉🍾🍾Thank you for this, I will be making this today, however I'm in London and don't have access to "Rookcoo" is their a substitute ingredient or can I just omit this part of the recipe?
Mmhhmm! This dish looks good, eh!! Question, can I replace the coconut milk with broth? I don't have ruku, but I have annatto seed paste. Could that work? Or can I simply leave it out? Thanks!
Thank you. Yes to both! You can certainly swap out the coconut milk for broth and annatto paste or even sazon seasoning will work just as well as the roucou!
West Africans don’t eat this on New Years. It’s okay to say you saw & learned this from Black Americans eating Black eyed peas, collard greens & cornbread for luck, money & prosperity.
First of all I’m not African I’m American and Black eye peas aren’t African. Soul food isn’t African they come from Aborigine/Indian American heritage. There were NEVER any African American traditions and food because they don’t exist.
You're not African so how would you know? You're absolutely correct about soul food, that's western and not African. Black eye beans however are worldwide. Imagine claiming something that grows organically all over the world. You know what doesn't exist? The term African American.

Yummy happy new year.💖👍💖🍀💖🎉💖😋💖🥗🍚🥒🥑💖
Look great
Looks amazing but what is Ruku?
Thank you. Roucou is an extract from the achiote fruit. ua-cam.com/video/KC3mU9vpte8/v-deo.html
I could do with that now with some coleslaw and avocado 🥑
What is ruko not sure if I spell it right first time hearing it. I want to try that recipe. Can anyone help please.
Hi, roucou is annatto extract. You can find out more about it here:
ua-cam.com/video/KC3mU9vpte8/v-deo.html
What kind of rice did you use?
Long grain parboiled rice
@@eatahfood thank you darlin!!
You're black eye peas and rice looks delicious but I'm having trouble finding roucou in the UK
You should be able to get Annatto which is Roucou in powdered form
@@eatahfood thank you
Happy New year badawi! 🎉🍾🍾Thank you for this, I will be making this today, however I'm in London and don't have access to "Rookcoo" is their a substitute ingredient or can I just omit this part of the recipe?
What is the red sauce you used? I've never heard of it?
Roucou or annatto extract.
Congratulations on your book. Is it only thru Instagram as I am not on that app but will love to view and share your book
Thank you Indra! You can check out the link in the video description. It's actually on the website
Happy new year artists ✊✊✊⚓
What is rucu? Is it puried tomato?
Gonna make this today. Did you use parboiled rice?
Looks tasty
Looks good ..but I didn't see any pumpkin or green seasoning😊
What is rocou
It's annatto extract: ua-cam.com/video/KC3mU9vpte8/v-deo.html
What is Roku? do you buy or make it?
Roucou is a liquid made from annatto extract. You can buy it in select markets or make it yourself if you have access to the achiote fruit
@@eatahfood Thank you!! 😊
❤️
