Thank you for this vlog, Jordan. M*A*S*H was one of the most popular TV shows in the history of television and a personal favorite of mine. I was saddened to see this site is nothing more than a few rusted ruins given the many fans that still enjoy the show. The M*A*S*H set deserves a true recreation down to the smallest detail. I would pay good money to visit the "Swamp", the O.R., Colonel Blake's office, the mess tent, Rosie's bar... How amazing it would be to visit the 4077!
Awesome Vlog!! M*A*S*H was a very special show I watched as a kid, I actually saw the finale when they aired it. Love your Vlogs too!! very compelling to watch! you are a great narrator! and Jaw is way too cute!! Keep up the amazing work Jordan!
Nine days ago was the 40th anniversary of the last episode of M*A*S*H on TV (February 28, 1983). It would have been out of this world heart warming if the remaining cast members would have returned to this original filming site to watch that last episode live and to reminisce about what they felt in that last episode and the series. Also, the very first person's face clearly seen on camera in MASH history is Kathy Denny Fradella. She is the front nurse running towards the camera in opening credits.
Glad I'm watching through your older stuff.. this was great! I've watched through MASH several times and will again. You did a pretty thorough job of this so thank you.. it's appreciated! BTW I'm enjoying your videos, youtube has replaced our conventional TV habits and you've become a regular around here.
This vlog was awesome. Brought back some great memories of my favorite tv show ever. I have seen several vlogs about this filming location but your is the best of all. Thanks for sharing.
Another great video. I enjoyed this because I watched every episode of MASH. One of my favorites. Yeah, I’m old. 😊 I remember Alan Alda saying how their tents were full of fleas, so they had to deal with fleas every day.
My family and I loved watching M.A.S.H. when I was growing up . I still would watch the reruns if they came on . I'm so glad you took us there . That's what so neat . Like you said , I probably won't ever get to visit California and all of these awesome places like this , so I for one am so glad you videoed this . Don't you ever get scared being out somewhere like that by yourself ? I probably would have freaked out if I saw that guy out there in the middle of no where . Glad , he was someone you reconized . Thanks Jordan !
Thank You, Jordan! I certainly enjoyed this episode about M*A*S*H filming location. Very cool. I was a young high school student for much of that time period, and watched the show. Another fun and interesting vlog. Cheers!
A walk I could never take. You are right thx. It is odd I lived in Cali 80, early 90's, and missed so much. Glad your out now so I can see some of what I missed.
thanks for making these videos they are interesting and yes you are right there are lots of people who would never get a chance to see these places or even know they exist but because of you we can have a glimpse before the future fades it all away and who knows maybe years from now your videos will be worth a fortune
Great video... this is the of also about. VanHalen and shows signed actual stuff from band...just a few days ago...we lost to cancer..Eddie folks...Rest in Peace Eddiie🙏🏻✌️🙏🏻🦋🤘👩🏻💻
I dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the password. I appreciate any help you can give me
@Derrick Arthur Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I gotta be honest about this MASH show..... I cried when the last show aired in the 80s. It was really REALLY difficult watching them say goodbye to each other after I and millions of other fans had gone through this TV war with them. Trust me when I tell you, it's impossible not to cry watching that episode. And I'm a man that rarely cries in my entire life.
You know what I liked about this one, was that you walked the trail down to where they shot the show. But what got me were all the mountain ranges above the location, where for over 100 yrs Hollywood made outdoor films like cowboy movies and shot up there in them hills! So beautiful. The stream looks great to fish out of. I could see Ronald Reagan ride his horse through the area. Glad you have moved and got out of that fitly area your apt was in. So many beautiful sites now flourishing with wild life and new growth. No more people destroying it's beauty.
I love this. My mum used to watch Mash when I was a child and in some of your videos I noticed those hills and I wondered if that’s where they filmed Mash. Then sure enough, this video pops up. Jah is hilarious! The start of this video had me laughing right out loud 😂
Just watched. Remember the opening scene(s) the MASH crew running up to a helicopter to see to the injured. They followed you back to L.A. lol The area looked like it went through a flood with all the debris around. I'm backtracking your vlogs now. Reminds me of what you said; the last to find out about it. But I did. Keep up the Good work. You've come a long way. Jah's the Best!
I really loved seen the mash episode thank you I was young when it was filmed but I've watched the reruns and I am a fan thank you for taking me where I'm not able to due to my poor health keep up the good work
I love MASH! I watch it on Hulu all the time. I always wondered where they filmed. When the series started everyone said it would flop, at the last episode celebration the actors/actress were really mobbed with news stations and reporters.
That vlog was very exciting. I watched every episode except the last good-by. I can't tolerate good-byes so I have yet to watch. Thanks for the vlog. You ought to go out to Newhall and see the gunsmoke set if it's still there.
Found your vlog about a week ago and have been binge-watching. Great job. I love all the behind the scenes stuff. But I always HATED M*A*S*H! You did a great job covering the site though.
Love this vlog I think I've seen all the MASH episodes There's a very good autobiography of Alan Alda called 'Never have your dog stuffed' It's really a funny book I couldn't put it down
I just noticed the date on this video. You shot this within three weeks of one of the wettest winters on record. Your comment about the tree debris (scarecrow Blair Witch Project) made me laugh. IF you could be in that canyon during a heavy storm , you'd be blown away ! The amount of water coming down that 'creek' is unbelievable. You would not be able to cross the creek ! Great video.
Thanks Jordan, this was just great to see. I thought you put on the straw hat in homage to BJ as seen in the last episode as he rides off into the sunset on the motorcycle.
LOL, you're so funny it's, the 4 OH 77 (th). I absolutely luvd the show & the hike, I've done it several times over the years. Thanks for all your VLogs.
thank you for doing this i am from illinoi about 1500 miles from california am disabled iwill never get to go to calif i have traveled when i worked south east elpaso never had time to go to calif
Still my favorite vlog you've done. My grandfather got me hooked on MASH in the 80's. My favorite episode is the Captain who thought he was Jesus. Quo Vadis, Captain Chandler.
terrific....what a hike! I think there were more involved tours of the 4077 location years ago. Alan Alda went to Fordham University/Bronx...and in Spring 1983, as MASH was ending, the guys who were occupying Alan's old dorm room in Martyr's Court dorm set up the 4 room suite as Hawkeye's tent....got some local TV and radio coverage. Alan and his wife Arlene have lived in Manhattan for years...just reading her book from @5 years ago JUST KIDS FROM THE BRONX...short bios of "kids" from the Bronx who created some notoriety, like Ralph Lauren. Calvin Klein, Gen. Colin Powell et.al. 36 years have passed since that last episode in Spring 1983...a lifetime.
I loved this vlog, thank you!! I was 9 when this show first aired and remember it well. What a great walk you had! Although all I could think the whole time was....mountain lions?? I was worried about you haha.
Fond memories of M*A*S*H. One of the shows my whole family loved to watch. In those days we only had two stations that came in good enough to watch. CBS and NBC.
Wow thanks so much for finding this site and doing this vlog! I never new that it was filmed here in the U.S. My mom was a big MASH fan so I had to watch it all the time when I was a little girl. She even had a MASH beer can but I dont know what happened to it. (S. Reiner)
Thank you for sharing this one. Due to medical issues I would never make it there even though always wanted to. My father who I helped take care of passed a few years ago and myself and my husband who is former USMC all watched it. My father and I shared fond memories watching it together while I was growing up. Was nice to see wish my Dad was still about to share it with but know he's seeing it where he is. Thank you again for all these awesome blogs!
My grandpa served in the Korean War! My dad without his glasses looks like Alan Alda ! My dad always watched MASH when I was little and I love it as well!
My former roommate an I were lucky to have gotten there, shortly before it was burned down in the early 80's. Regretfully he has all the photos and have not seen him in 30 years so thanks for the memories. Am pretty sure that parts of the area was burned in last years fires. Mash is one of my favorite shows and I recall seeing the final show like yesterday
You were right. There are no more MASH sites or artifacts on that road beyond the site. I visited the set from that direction. It's a shorter hike, all on that road. But you also need to park in a residential area by Malibu Lake. Too bad you missed the copter landing above that gives a good view of the whole area.
His last name was Styles. First name... ??? I wonder if that swill they called gin was even Drinkable. Or was it water. I watched another Video by Loretta Swit. She took a lil Differant path. She didn't cross that bridge you crossed. Or did she. Just may not have filmed it. I could probably spend most of a day there. I wonder how far the Korean village was from camp. Probably Rt down the Rd.
I always found it funny that the MASH TV show lasted 8 years longer than the actual Korean war. Not only that, but one whole year in the series, went by in one episode.
Wow ...this is soooo interesting ...thank you so much for this...I ´m in Germany and sometimes I watch what you visit ….even Mash-... a Dream to visit it ...so I thank you for this ...greetings from Germany !
I first went out to this site in the late eighties. At that time, the rusted ambulance was there, and that was all. The site struck me as kind of small to hold the camp, and the helicopter landing pad seemed lower to the ground than I expected, but that's the magic of Hollywood, i guess. I didn't watch the entire video, but you may be unaware that the original Planet of the Apes was filmed at what was then called the Malibu ranch, and the Park Ranger's office was originally Mr. Blanding's Dream House. Apologies if you mentioned any of that. I'm sure a lot of other filming was done there, as well.
I’ve been in the Director’s for around thirty five years and the Director’s credit must appear right before the program content starts. An alternative to this would be at the end before closing credits start. I’ve put credits on over five hundred sitcom episodes.

I have to tell you i loved mash growing up and i still watch the reruns of it,thank you for showing the filming location !!!! two thumbs up
Love this episode, Jordan. Old enough to watch the series, and still watch reruns constantly. Thanks!
I used to watch MASH as a kid but now I'll have to watch it again to see how much the scenery has changed over the last 50 years! Thank you!
Awesome Vlog!! M*A*S*H was a very special show I watched as a kid, I actually saw the finale when they aired it. Love your Vlogs too!! very compelling to watch! you are a great narrator! and Jaw is way too cute!! Keep up the amazing work Jordan!

Loved this and thank you for mentioning it in a live feed on 10/08/21.
NWO 4 LIFE!
I remember watching the last episode of MASH ,I was at cedars Sinai hospital after having my second open heart surgery. best tv show ever made .
Have enjoyed MASH for many years and am enjoying your vlogs! Your hat was a perfect fit - Hawkeye wore a straw cowboy hat in many episodes :)
yup. wore that straw hat...especially in the earlier years, with Trapper John/wayne rogers.
I dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account..?

M*A*S*H is one of my favourite shows of all time. Got all sorts of beautiful sad nostalgia watching this.
I loved this! M*A*S*H will forever be a classic!
What a trip down memory lane, thank you Jordan. Jah your funny :)
The helipad ? That's almost the most iconic spot.....
I know, i couldn't believe he didn't go up to that section or even mention it.
so so fun to take these trips with you. Places I would never be able to go.

Mash was one of the coolest shows. I think i watch it now more as an adult than i did as a kid
Always thinking about this place King David here* good job ! 😎
My grandpa served in the Korean War! My dad without his glasses looks like Alan Alda ! My dad always watched MASH when I was little and I love it as well!
I was almost going to be mad. I was waiting to see where the Swamp was. Nice to see that Radar didn't send all the Jeeps home 🤣
Loved it, can’t get around anymore, really enjoyed this!
I love seeing things like this. We've all watched MASH and this is interesting.
At first I thought you had the hat because Hawkeye on occasion wore a straw cowboy hat.
He was the 1-2-3 kid when he started on the WWE
Awesome, loved it. Good job
Hat looks great I think. Thanks for doing what you do.
This is great ,now I understand why they were always so sweaty. You did great walking all this way.
Love MASH. Enjoyed your video.
I met Alan Alda in Falmouth, Cornwall in the 80's. He's a really nice man.

It's called show business, it's entertainment. Many shows that depicts true events & history aren't exactly accurate!!
at 4:00, it looks like where some filming was also done. Klinger reading and then skipping down the hill.
