Yes. After countless hours of reading and watching I've learned to do this step if I'm unsure if fragrance accelrates too fast ! With trial and error (t&e) I've learned the hard way believe me! Let me tell ya though ive never ever wasted a batch even if it seized, I just added lots of water and turned it into laundry detergent or rebatched cause dang it soap ingredients cost too much money to throw an unfortunate batch away😊❤ i absolutely am still blown away with your story and im so proud of you!! Thanks!
Yes you can, you can rebatch it, which is basically hot process soap. Melt it down in a crock pot, add a little more water, any additives you want to introduce, and quickly remould. No need to throw failed batches away - no way do that. Save it, rebatch it. Very grateful for the whisk tip when using aromas that accelerate fast. Bless ya Soap Gal.
Good evening, Madam. You are truly a beacon of knowledge to emulate, and your work is very, very beautiful. I follow every video on your channel. Thank you, Madam. Thank you for this valuable work.
Thank you so much for this information. But what do we do if it Rices ans seizes, like Gypsy Rose FO? That one smells beautiful, but oh my goodness, it riced and be ame soap on a stick in seconds. Thank you.
Hi Soap Gal, love this tutorial here thank you. Only one thing though, and sorry if this is a silly question. You said R & D around six times in this video without elaborating. What does this mean, what does that stand for? You got people all over the world watching from different languages and cultures - why the abbreviation, is the phrase too long to say it? Would appreciate the explanation, then this will be jargon-free lesson in soapmaking. Many many blessings. x 1 hour later! Okay got it - research and development, spelt out clearly on another of your videos. Cool!
No problem! Happy to explain. You can also reference "How to R&D your soap bars" This is research and development. I mentioned it here because what I am performing is a test - sometimes you don't always know how your fragrance is going to behave which is why you want to "test" or perform research and development to learn how your recipes behave and test to ensure consistency.
Thanks so much for the video. You went super fast. Question…. You added water to the oils the lye water (50/50) to the oils? Or did you add all of the water to the oils then dry lye?
If you watch all the way to the end you can see how to prevent it, but there's really no way to recover it the cold process way after it has seized but you can hot process melt it down. This is why I always recommend doing small test batches before making large batches
Thank you Joanna for your teaching and all you do. I've watched some of your great videos and I love them!. One question though, to do the R&D do I use my type of oils or do I need to use the Trinity oils?🤔 Thank you.
Not sure as well but basically your suppose to do a test batch of the fragrance to see how it will react. If you really like it you can try the method she showed.

Hi Joana. Can you still use the soap that siezed? Can you cook it? Thanks

R&D is Research and Development. :)

Glad it was helpful!
Good evening, Madam. May I have a link or the soap calculator program that you are working on? I am one of your followers from Jordan
Cheers from Sydney Australia
What if I want to use less than 3lbs of the oil blend? How will that work for a beginner?
Thank you
Thanks so much for the video. You went super fast. Question…. You added water to the oils the lye water (50/50) to the oils? Or did you add all of the water to the oils then dry lye?
Great question! I added water to my oil, then 50/50 lye solution to that mixture
Awesome thanks so much for responding.
To clarify: just use a whisk instead of an immersion blender once you add the fragrance?
Why did you add water to your oils, mica, fragrance? I’ve never seen this before.
Doing this allows for a smooth base to add the lye into so you can focus on the trace
Uh oh, now you have to show how to save the soap after it seizes! 😉

Research and Development
Research and development! This is where you confirm that your recipes are coming out how you want them to and ensuring consistency for your customers
My soap seized without any fragrance. Why ?
It's likely you used too much lye or not enough water!
Blue slushy?
The actual kids frozen sweet?
No that's just the name of the mica :)
This video shows how to AVOID seized soap .... not what to do with seized soap!!!
Thanks Scott! We will change the title. sorry for the confusion!
