From my understanding (I haven't played through Polaris Bond yet), is that the people of Kowloong who uploaded their minds to what is basically an amazon serverfarm to keep living in VR in a world where a virus makes being human and alive mutually exclusive, gave up their lives and put their 'essence' into Qu. It goes a little deeper than just a sophisticated 'take all my energy' meme, and there is alot of lore there I'm not saying, like the fact that Kowloong is supposed to be this completely massive city that she once ruled over, ultimately becoming a ghost town after an immense battle, or how Qu before this point wanted to accelerate the downfall of humanity so the virus could disappear and her people could live on in peace in the digital world. I could type like 20,000 words more of lore but I'll leave it there.

Check out the animated short film "Fate Unchained" from PGR, the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal along with the animation, and it also features a fan favorite character and is also one character which has Narwhal as one of the OST's dedicated to them.
There are other animations for pgr like this one: Astray, glimmering spiral and weaved vows honestly awesome stuff that utilizes music very well and the art style they have are beautiful honestly wished there were more
I believe there also other company have done this, Hoyo just got heavily censored because the company was from China while Kuro is in Hong Kong. From Korea was also got that like Path To Nowhere even Blue Archieve have blood.
