The Sims 2 is still the standard 20 years later. The gameplay is still top notch and the look and feel make us feel something. Love this look back from the development to first release
I miss when game devs would delay games when they werent ready to release. I was 2 years old in 2004 and my first game was Sims 3 (on the wii before i played on xbox 360), but i am obsessed with the Sims 2. It just has that magic. I recently played Sims 2 PSP (its WILD) and it was so weird, so weird in the best way.
Honestly, although Sims 2 is my game, I would hate that. At this point I wouldn’t want to give EA my money for anything and I doubt they would put any care into making it less corrupted etc. 😕
Unfortunately I don’t think EA would be able to remaster the series without Will Wright’s permission. He is the one who made the sims 2 and added that magic to the series. I believe he owns the rights to TS2. That is probably why they can’t upgrade the game or even speak about it. They would need to pay Will Wright and I doubt they want to do that. The Sims 2 is great series, it would be wonderful if it can be remastered to enhance gameplay further with a massive free update (clothes, current technology, build and buy, food, personality, CAS, more towns, etc.) I don’t think Will Wright wants to touch the game or allow anyone else to mess with it.
All those years ago and I still remember the first time I played TS2 on my friends computer, how impressed I was and still am! I remember begging my mom to buy me another EP, experimenting with gameplay, how I discovered CC on modthesims with my cousin and broke the game because we downloaded so much content! Wow, you took me on a really nice trip down memory lane haha, I still play sims 2 when I feel this specific need and I would love EA to give the next gen of the game as much love and care as the second and third part had.
The sims 2 will always be that game! It had hooked so many simmers and built core lore for many games to come. May this game continue to be cherished and celebrated for thousands of more years!
Thank you so much for making this video, watching it. I felt the wave of nostalgia. I felt when I was younger and my dad drove me to Best Buy to buy the Sims two. I fell in love with the Sims one at my babysitters’s house when I was young and I never really liked video games that much but I fell in love. I don’t think I’ve ever felt the joy or excitement that I felt waiting for that game to come out and when I got to play it for the first time. I will never forgive EA for ruining the Sims, They don’t listen to the players at all. We’ve been telling them for years what we want and the executives ignore all of their players and now they’re making a multiplayer online version of the Sims and the Sims four is going on 10 years of being broken and with every expansion pack, it gets broken even more. The Sims four just felt so hollow to me, none of the quirkiness none of the chaos just bland, boring, it’s the Sims two was worse with slightly better graphics, but I don’t even like the art style anymore. It’s too cartoony for me. I loved the Sims two Hardstyle. I really wish EA would listen to the remastered version of the Sims combined with the Sims three with better graphics that’s all that we wanted was a progression graphics progression features to build upon each other not to subtract. I will never forgive VA and they will never receive a penny from me.

Not that EA will do this but for it being the The Sims 2 20th anniversary, they should make it available again today. It's a groundbreaking game and an important one to EA's history and for us players who have played it from day one up til now. Imagine if they announced a re-release on steam and a limited physical edition. I'd buy it in a heartbeat! i remember picking up Makin' Magic and getting so excited about the ad in the booklet for 2. And than preordering it at a local retailer and getting access to the CC demo disc playing around with it for hours! I remember counting down the days to the release of the full game and than every upcoming expansion as well. It's a very special game that should not be left forgotten by history. Have tiny hope maybe a re-release could happen now with Mysims being labelled ''retro release'' i hope its a hint for more re-releases.

Why did you say at 1:11 that the Sims2 came out on Sept. 14th, if the source shown at 7:30 says it was shipped on Sept. 17th (as I always remembered)!?
Commenting again but Ive been having trouble getting Sims 2 to work on my PC nowadays though because i dont know how to install patches and such to have it run correctly on my 2017 PC... if anyone has any tips or links to simple walkthroughs, please leave in replies 🙏 (It crashes when i try to load a household after making a sim on the sims 2 ultimate edition)
