I have an ED and this triggered me to the max. Katie is so gorgeous and has a smaller body and Josh pranking about it just makes others feel terrible. I’m truly disappointed and upset. This is terrible and so triggering !! I wish people thought about what they posted and how it affects others.

I totally agree with you! I’m also recovering from an ED. I understand he didn’t mean harm, but the fact that he didn’t think this would be problematic is a little crazy. Katie definitely has body dysmorphia like she is literally so skinny and the smallest comment always throws her. This kind of content and attitude towards her weight is very damaging to young girls in my opinion. If someone said this to me I would simply be like no I didn’t and why would it matter if I did. She is not demonstrating body positivity and rather very damaging views on weight gain.
Ive always noticed her having a very anxious attitude about her weight and it makes me feel so bad for viewers because its telling them if they aren’t skinny they need to be worried about it.

Body dysmorphia is a mental health condition, not a physical one. It refers to someone who spends a lot of time worrying about a specific aspect of their physical appearance, which Katie obviously does, and the "flaws" that someone with BDD sees about themselves are often simply just imagined and are invisible to everyone else. For example, Katie is very skinny, but she is still very self-conscious about her weight and as soon as Josh brings up the topic, she is suddenly terrified that she looks fat, even though it's obvious to anyone else that she is skinny.
Just because someone is healthy and works out doesn't mean that they don't have BDD. If anything, that could suggest that someone does actually have BDD if they are showing an unhealthy obsession with trying to change their body. Being fit and healthy should be lifestyle, not an obsession.

It's Katie's preference to be skinny. Once u put a lot of work into building a body ur proud of, the last thing u wanna hear from someone is that you're losing progress. Imagine ur 300lbs and u wanna lose wight. U go to the gym for a year and ur down to 220 and someone comes up to u 2 months later and says "it looks like you've gained some weight." It's like a shot to the heart. That was the prank, a shot to her heart, not anyone elses

Her being in this shape keeps her at low risk for heart diseases and obesity. 36% of Americans are obese. 32% are over weight. The leading causes of death in the US are heart disease, cancers and diabetes. Being overweight and unhealthy onsets an avoidable death. A change in behavioural lifestyle is encouraged now. And while no one should force them selves into an eating disorder they should stop look at ‘fat’ as acceptable because it’s unhealthy. And I’m not talking about if you have fat, im talking about unhealthy, overweight fat that decreases your quality of life and doesn’t promote optimum health.
Love you guys but I wouldn’t joke/prank about a girls body or your wife’s body. That’s what gives female body dysmorphia and disorders. Maybe because deep down they know they need to start putting in the work to lose weight if they're overweight. Being overweight is not a good thing. Not only does it look bad, but it increases your chances of stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease, and it lowers your life expectancy. Stop being emotional about it, and just get to work.

This was such a heartbreaking, disturbing, and honestly concerning video. How did either one of them think this was okay to post? Especially when their primary demographic is young girls who are already pressurized by societal beauty standards to look a certain way. When Josh started grabbing her body fat and reassuring her later that “you’re skinny” and “I can fit my hands around your entire waist” like wtf? Even when he forced her to weigh herself and she reluctantly stepped on the scale; it reminded me of a traumatic moment in my life where I was almost physically forced onto the scale to see my weight, and this was when I was at my worst with body dysmorphia. This is so triggering to girls with body image issues, and it’s implying that gaining weight is unattractive and undesirable when in actuality so many girls work SO hard to gain weight in order to be HEALTHIER (e.g. girls recovering from anorexia)! It goes both ways; just like how obesity shouldn’t be glamorized, neither should extreme thinness. Not to say that Katie is unhealthily thin because I know her and Josh are both healthy and she looks gorgeous! But that’s not the only beautiful or desirable body out there, and this video, I’m sorry to say, implies that and is incredibly insensitive. And unfortunately it’s not the first time they’ve done this. They really need to be more aware of how videos like these trigger their viewers, and as influencers they ARE role models, especially to their younger fans.

Yes, this was just a prank, but the underlying messages that they portray are insensitive and problematic.
Commenting negatively on someone’s body is never okay. Forcing someone to get on the scales and check their weight when they don’t want to is not okay. Reenforcing that being “super skinny” is always good is not okay.
I am mostly concerned about the audience that watch these videos and feel like they have to live up to this super super impossibly high standard.
It’s great that this video didn’t affect you personally, but it clearly affected many others.

I love your videos and the two of you as well, but this video is not it! You two are very fit and we all know you work out a lot and keep your bodies healthy. However this video only says that fitness equals being skinny. Which is not true at all, and as someone that is struggling with losing weight due to many reasons, this videos doesn't make me feel any better. Katie can for sure have insecurites, we all have them. But putting this video out there can send the message that a body like Katie's is the standard which can really mess up young people because not everyone looks like that. I love you guys but videos like this are triggering even for me! I struggle with body weight and I am no where near a size 0-2 so to see her react the way she did believing she was actually “gaining weight” was very triggering. Like she is already very thin how could he even say she’s gaining even as a joke. Some people wish to be a size 0-2. And it feels like y’all are promoting it. Maybe unintentionally but it would help if body weight and being thin wasn’t so emphasized on your channel. :(
The way they think that being skinny is beautiful and gaining weight is a problem probably shows that Katie needs to gain weight. They idolise being skinny and think they should be in the lowest fat percentage. No. It's natural if your weight fluctuates. And it's not healthy if you think skinny equals healthy. Overweight is a problem. Underweight is too. Fitness should be a lifestyle, not an obsession and you should strive to be better than yesterday, not skinnier.

This video is really concerning for young girls out there who have to feel like weight is everything. The fact that he “weighs her” and she looking on her body to see where the weight is is so upsetting. This can be so triggering for so many people.
