Its funny the kids refuse to let the trix rabbit have any of his cereal while force feeding sonny cocoa puffs.
6:03 - Miss these two guys. They were must watch television for me. Sure, I didn’t always agree with them, but they had such great chemistry, and the film criticism world has never quite been the same since their individual passings.
After Roger Ebert passed I'm not sure if there's a popular film critic that most Americans can even name or put a face to. People seem to put their stock in Rotten Tomatoes these days, which might offer more of a fair consensus...but there's nothing that can replace a well worded and opinionated film review from someone like Ebert.
I love the Garfield and Friends bumpers, 🐱!
Ah the early 90s, with all the neon and bright and breezy attitude held over from the late 80s, before grunge rock bummed everyone out with its sad and its plaid.
These are the best gems to find. Love anything Saturday mornings. And the crisp video and audio clarity of the content is superior! This is gem mint 10! Keep up the amazing work and diligent content mining!
You had me at Garfield and wrestling legends from the WWE.
I'm so happy to hear bumpers and end credits with the original Garfield and Friends theme, I always preferred that to the Calypso one.
0:12 - Because all the cool kids back then talked in potato puns…
dying to know what that 'tournament of power' was like! sadly looking it up online didn't help all I got was a bunch of dragonball references... ah well. sounded like something I'd totally be into back then, at least.
Chicago Tribune article about it from 3/29/90:

@@80sCommercialVault oh thanks for the info!
Teddy Grahams- Even as a kid, I thought those costumed bear characters in commercials like this one looked like nightmare fuel.
Beetlejuice Vanishing Vault- I find it funny how the kid playing with the Beetlejuice action figure tries to imitate Beetlejuice's voice throughout the commercial.
7-Up- If they ever made a live action/animated movie starring this Spot mascot, I would absolutely watch it. This commercial has the makings for a plot for such a movie. If you look closely at the end of this commercial on the shelves where the 7-Up soda cans are, you can briefly see a product placement of Keebler's Tato Skins chips on an upper shelf.
Teddy Grahams is now Five Nights At Freddies😂
Ah, 'Tato Skins... LOVE the variety they used to have in the Keebler days! Tried as many of those as possible from Plain to Sour Cream 'n Chives (whatever those are), to Bacon and Cheddar!
Nowadays in the TGIFriday's era... Bacon and Cheddar. AND NUFFIN' ELSE! PLUS you can't get them in stores anymore... x.x
Something about that video game tournament ad that made 1990 an amazing year to be playing games like that, but I'm LOLing at unlicensed NES companies Camerica and Tengen and what the heck is POWER PAK? It's like they just took a bunch of random companies and try to make them "cool".
Amazing quality on this one!
Retrospectively awesome video game competition.
I still play the original Commodore 64 and
Amiga 500 😺👍🕹️.
Also, GARFIELD meows ruling 😸😺👍.
Alumni Hall was the venue where DePaul's basketball teams used to play. It's been demolished since, and now the teams play closer to the lakefront at Wintrust Arena.
Really curious what Tournament of Power was. Wonder if it was like the Nintendo World Championships that were held later in 1990.
The girl in the Pop-Tarts commercial is Kiersten Warren she would go on to play the part of Alex on Save by the Bell: The College Years
I don't know a kid who wasn't dying for an action figure of their favorite character actor, Glenn Shadix.
3:43 I'm pretty sure most youth hockey leagues have rules against fully-grown cartoon tigers playing in games...
Will the rabbit really get to eat TRIX? Or will he literally give up and commit suicide? To be continued!
McDonald's-missed opportunity to have Jim Nabors appear at the end of the ad:"FRIES SURPRISE!!!"
Trix-Maybe the Rabbit should file a lawsuit against General Mills
Yum Yums-sounds like they're from a South Park episode
Tournament Of Power-the eSports of its day
Beetlejuice Vanishing Vault-Beetlejuice 2 is finally going to happen..with Jenna Ortega as Lydia's daughter
Dungeons & Dragons-hopefully there will be some sort of animated series Easter egg in Honor Among Thieves
3:31 - Tony, if you really wanted to help the kid, you would have suggested he eat breakfast BEFORE he got to the locker room…
I still have that regular sized Beetlejuice!
The Apple Jacks commercial was cool
0:27 - The 20/20 Crystal Ball in me says it was a wasted opportunity not hiring Don Rickles for the latter half of this ad, but meh. XD
That little blonde girl in the Honey Combs commercial with Andre the Giant is Anna Faris, right? And the robot sounds like Billy West maybe, he's in loads of these 90s commercials, along with Tom Kenny.
Also, SEVEN cereal commercials in one block of Garfield. Plus Pop-Tarts. Would these have aired before school in the morning?
Anna Faris was not a child actress and did no commercial work to my knowledge.
