My father was in the RUC and people don't understand the threat was not just on duty but at home and with families 24/7. I still live the trauma and anxiety and depression of what we seen and went through and my father to. The RUC were the bravest and best police force in the world stuck between violence from all communities to try and keep law and order. Yes I understand things on all sides were done that were pure evil. But unless you served in the RUC or the UDR or have a family member serving. People don't understand the families suffered to. God bless all who served in the RUC. Law biding citizens of Northern Ireland had nothing to fear the worlds best police force were serving here. Lest We Forget
Absolutely. The bravest Men and Women who put their lives on the line every day to keep the peace on the streets of Ulster and to protect against terrorism. GOD BLESS THE ROYAL ULSTER CONSTABULARLY🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Not being disrespectful to any other Police force but the RUC always looked like Police should. Tall, well turned out with a great uniform and badge. Things seemed safer when they were around.
Young May Moon is an Irish folk song published in Moore's Melodies in the 19th Century; it was adopted by the Royal Irish Constabulary (1867-1922) as their quick march, and thereafter by the Royal Ulster Constabulary until 2001. There never has been a Royal Ulster Regiment; the Ulster Defence Regiment was established in the early 1970s to provide military support to the police. They were amalgamated with the Royal Irish Rangers and the Royal Ulster Rifles to form the current Royal Irish Regiment which dates to 1992.
I worked with a lot of RUC as a soldier. The vast majority of them were good blokes who wanted to help their community. A very small number were undoubtedly bigots.
@@dessy-cs9ws Technically they do, they're just amalgamated into the PSNI. Indeed, the official name of the police now is (shortened) "The PSNI incorporating the RUC"
I always found it odd that the RUC wore a Cap badge with an Irish Harp, their uniform was dark Irish Green ; they looked so much more Irish than the Garda in Eire who have a Blue outfit . The reason i think it had to be abolished was that it did not reflect the Population of NI as it was too Protestant . The PSNI is at least a reflection of the NI society .
Superb footage, god bless the RUC GC, from an ex UK Cop 👍
I totally aree. The Royal Ulster Constabulary should be held in the highest respect. God bless the R.U.C.🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Typewriting mistake, I was thinking about Royal Irish Constabulary. Thank you for correction and interesting historic reference 😃

Maybe you should walk in a Widow's shoes and make comments!
Irish Catholic and love our RUC ❤️
They don't exist anymore.

Primary police force in UK and Commonwealth...

The PSNI is at least a reflection of the NI society .
The reason is because they were a direct continuation of the Royal Irish Constabulary who wore those when they policed all of the island.
Ooo neat
Thank you my friend 😎
It’s all over now baby blue.
Not funny. Get a life and get with the programme😡

@@DuleVideos No harm intended. Kind regards. Seems to be a misunderstanding on my part. No disrespect intended. My apologies
