I'm more of a period/historical performance guy when it comes to Bach on organ, but the fact that you play amazingly cannot be denied. However, what I love most is that you play sock-footed! Good for you!!!

Rien de choquant ou d'incohérent dans ces registrations changeantes qui permettent, en vérité, un splendide feu d'artifice contrapuntique et illuminent la construction, le développement de la fugue. What a wonderful interpretation on a glorious instrument. Very modern indeed and truthful to the traditional sound at the same time. I don't believe Bach would object a bit. And as to comparisons to other artists that some people were making, socks or glitter shoes. Well. I don't think the world has so many genius young organists that they all can't possibly bring full enjoyment to their listeners. They have to me!
People are just jealous they didn't think of playing in socks before they spent all that money of organ shoes! I'm a short organist 5' 4" Male, I play pedals mainly with toe rather than heel simply because I don't have the leg length to do it. I need two bum shuffles to do a pedal scale! I was always taught to feel between the gaps for pedal notes, you miss a gap in socks you won't do it again. Have a listen to some of the other videos on this channel, it's top class.

I keep coming back to THIS particular performance. To me, its a very powerful reminder that there are incredible musician in our present day - and that such incredible levels of musical talent aren't a thing of the historical past.
Magnifique version de cette fugue virtuose. L'une des plus belles. Bach, de là où il est, doit bien jubiler d'entendre son oeuvre aussi bien interprétée. Ah s'il avait pu bénéficier de grandes orgues de cette qualité acoustique et architecturale, je peux imaginer la magnificence de ses oeuvres jouées par lui sur de tels claviers. Vivement une intégrale Bach par Monsieur Righetti.

Bach is life and this interpretation is a monument to him and the joy of life. I cannot express with words how fabulous was to listening your playing. And the last D note is pure ecstasy!!

Après on aime ou pas ça ne se discute pas ! c’est comme les goûts et les couleurs.... Excellent display of virtuosity and analytical thinking, indebted to both Jean Guillou and Cameron Carpenter (with a slight predominance of the latter). You can feel the Fröhlichkeit much more than the drops of sweat bringing it to the listener.
BRAVO ! Love the way you color this piece with the many sounds on this magnificent instrument. Would love to hear the power of the pedals more, but no doubt a great performance!

I like the unorthodox approach to registration here. I'm guessing your goal was to use this piece to showcase the different tonal colors available on this instrument.
@David Poole My point is, like his interpretations or not, Cameron Carpenter is profoundly talented and, like B. R., Cameron also pours his heart and soul into his performances. To call him a "novice" is to woefully misunderstand and misjudge him. I agree, all the other organists you mention are also fabulous, love all of them.
Definitely not how I was taught to play this piece! If it wasn't for the fact that Mr. Righetti is one of the most gifted and genius organists of our time and always in control of his progressive interpretations, it would be something of a silly display of ego feeding a needlessly overdone performance. Bravo Sir. And Yes, I wholly support different colored socks! Just wish I could go "sock foot" on my pedal board.
This is interesting. You are right about the virtousity, but why do they play the pedal solo in the Toccata BWV 564 much slower than the semiquavers in this piece despite that both compositions has the time signature C?

Astonishing performace! I played this piece on my final exam in music school, but what you did - it's simply amazing, maybe a bit too fast, but still there is a lot of clarity. I wonder, you change manuals every few seconds, I'm just curious - for variety of sounds, some kind of "topophonic" or just for cool performance? Or maybe all above are correct? Great job, I'm looking for more!
The primary goal was to make a short video, with as many registrations colors as possible, for the mobile app of the church, and if possible to play Bach... I thought that with this work, I would win more than I lose by doing that! ;)
Magari Bach sarebbe stato un po' perplesso a sentire tutti questi mirabolanti e fantasiosi cambi di registrazione, praticamente ad ogni battuta. Chissà se l'aveva concepita così. Io resto comunque affascinato dalla mostruosa bravura tecnica e dalla padronanza dello strumento di Righetti, ..che paragonerei al giovane Guillou: un talento straordinario. Anche se i cambi di registrazione a volte mi sembrano eccessivi.

Astonishing performace! I played this piece on my final exam in music school, but what you did - it's simply amazing, maybe a bit too fast, but still there is a lot of clarity.
I wonder, you change manuals every few seconds, I'm just curious - for variety of sounds, some kind of "topophonic" or just for cool performance? Or maybe all above are correct?

The primary goal was to make a short video, with as many registrations colors as possible, for the mobile app of the church, and if possible to play Bach... I thought that with this work, I would win more than I lose by doing that! ;)

Magari Bach sarebbe stato un po' perplesso a sentire tutti questi mirabolanti e fantasiosi cambi di registrazione, praticamente ad ogni battuta. Chissà se l'aveva concepita così.
Io resto comunque affascinato dalla mostruosa bravura tecnica e dalla padronanza dello strumento di Righetti, ..che paragonerei al giovane Guillou: un talento straordinario.
Anche se i cambi di registrazione a volte mi sembrano eccessivi.
