@@plumlazy You know how your face and expression would look up on the stand in front of the world giving testimony about the murders of your brother and mother by your father? Everyone processes emotions differently, it doesn’t make him cold hearted. Don’t let the sins of the father be the sons burden. That isn’t fair.
Thus poor man's tears and deep grief are heartbreaking. When he said that he had to clean everything up for his traumatically lost and loved nephew, Paul, it hit home. I have not had anything like this happen in my family, Thank God. However, the last gift I gave to my Mama on this Earth, was to fix her make-up for her funeral. John Marvin's grief is real, his heartbreak is real. God bless him for what their family is going through because of Alex. Heartbreaking.
Miss Cindy, I realize that my comment to you is the complete opposite of this Double Murder Trial, but here goes: In October of 1963 my mother’s younger brother Tommy who lived 3 blocks from my mother, father and my 3 older siblings. My mother was pregnant with me and I was born 3 months later in January of 1964. Anyway, Tommy had made sure that his daughter, who was in elementary school, left to go to school, then Tommy taped a note warning whoever read it, to not allow his little daughter come inside after school let out, then Tommy locked every lock in his house, called one of his other sisters, Beverly, and while the two were talking, my aunt heard a loud noise and asked her brother Tommy if he heard the noise also. Tommy told her that he did hear the loud noise, and as calmly as ever, he told her that he had shot himself with his rifle. My aunt while completely hysterical, told Tommy that she was going to call for help and then call him right back, but Tommy begged her to not hang up the phone because he was dying and just wanted her to pray for and with him before died. In the meantime, with my mother, one of Tommy’s other sisters living 3 blocks away, did not know what had happened with Tommy. My father’s supervisor had to track my father’s delivery route and inform him that the police needed him at his brother-in-laws house because they needed a family member to identify Tommy’s body there at his(Tommy’s) house. After that was done, my father went home and my mother was surprised that he was home so early from work. My father walked up to my mother and wrapped her in a hug and told her “Tommy’s gone”. My mother told my father that Tommy was at work but after work he would back home. Knowing that my mother was not understanding what had happened with Tommy, my father, as gently as he could while still hugging her told her “Tommy is dead, he shot himself”.
Exactly you hit it right on the head. And im sorry for the loss of your mom. I commented before i even read yours that i had a friend accidently overdose, a bf actually. He died 40 days after my mother died. I felt it was my duty to clean his blood, vomit and body stain. I also was able to put pants on my mom b4 the amulance came, my last attempt to do something for my mother. (She died u expectently and only had a t shirt on and i knew i couldnt let her be indecent in front of people). This mans pain is really real. I believe every word he says. U have to experience these things to understand.
@@jesseschbrt8769 You are exactly right, you have to experience it in some manner to understand. My deepest condolences on the loss of your mother and friend. Grief is strange, we do recover from it, yet it is always there just under the surface ... while at the same time we are learning to live with it, continue to live our lives. My brother pointed out to me a few weeks ago that I had actually lived longer now without Mama than I had with her. Knew this was true for him, always looking out for my little brother, he is almost five years younger than myself.
I believe this man is pained by the loss of his nephew and SIL. But he is woefully ignorant of how he sounds when he describes his family and just a regular family. They tried to paint themselves as that in their interview on tv. They’re not a regular family. They’ve very privileged with both wealth and community “support”. They’re very land rich with multiple homes to go to that are fully stocked with anything they may need. They’ve been largely untouchable in regards to being able to get away with doing what they want.
How do you think he should have explained his family? When you’re wealthy, that’s all you’ve known, and you work hard to maintain that, they don’t think of money/wealth when asked to describe their family and the relationships. They seemed to have unusually good relationships and had the world by the tail for sure. I think they are classy enough not to talk about their money in that way.
It's clear that they have what we old-timers call "good breeding" ...it's unfortunate that you can find bad actors in the best of families...they clearly benefitted and enjoyed the wealth and privilege they were born into but it's also clear that they have worked hard to maintain and grow that prosperity
The fact that he started cleaning up the crime scene.. started washing down the crime scene alone makes me suspicious that he was involved. How dare he do that during a active investigation.
The crime scene had been released.. 🙄 John just totally forgot to mention he wasn't the *Only Saint* there mopping up blood and bits of Paul. *Mark Ball* helped clean up. It's all there in the trial footage with Mark on the stand. Mr. Mark Ball *is* a _Genuinely_ lovely gentle quiet man.
Alex's brother truly fails to realize that Alex woulda taken every bit of everything of their parent's assets. His brother is completely blind to Alex's ways!!
Side note but all the testimony about Paul leaving stuff all over the place bugs me. They present it as a “funny quirk” that was so endearing. I find it entitled, immature and lazy. Especially leaving loaded firearms just laying here and there? I’m sorry what? And leaving all his hunting stuff in the blind? Sounds like he assumed that someone else would always be there to clean up after him.
Yep just a spoiled silly young man the Alex and Maggie raised .Buster very immature and going no where in life .The all lived high on the hog even Maggie carless spending no job and they where not hunting hogs when they lived high on the hog .
They try to make it seem as if he was such a carefree guy but in actuality he seems to have been totally careless towards others as he made them constantly clean up after him. Also this tidbit of testimony worries me a bit as it might bring ideas that loaded guns of the family might have been left there from previous huntings, which then could be in easy reach for anyone to grab and use.
@@tmusa2002 My suspicion is that Alex had been blackmailed for a murder Buster committed. No way all that money was spent on drugs. The feds need to start probing every aspect. As you said, the whole thing stinks.
Then there was the law school reunion on the property that same night. Who goes to an active crime scene?! If anything - you stay away, so as not to get implicated! I’ve never heard of a crime, packed a suitcase and ran to the crime scene; never, not once.
Why are people saying he’s genuine? This is a family with history of covering things up & lying.. & why was he there cleaning up the crime scene?! He’s obviously covering things up too. They both seem guilty
Even if a lot of times a person is genuine, by the time they run through a testimony it then becomes "rehearsed". Although I am sure he did love his family, other than on cross, his testimony did feel/sound rehearsed. Either he really thinks, and or wants to believe his brother is really innocent, or he is putting on a front to save what little dignity his family has left.
Strange, he cleaned up so he wasn't interested in leaving murder evidence alone. He has lots of anecdotes, like party conversation. The whole family is sus 🤔
Probably after they where all done. I had to clean up my brothers then call EMERGENCY clean up people to lift up all our carpet and floor boards. It was awful!
He wasn't thinking straight and did that out of respect to his nephew. Still..he needed to leave it. And if SLED did their job correctly, yellow tape per crime scene would have been around the property. I can't stand the lame cops.
Was all the smiling and being a bit funny planned as a strategy?? I have to believe it was because this is his brother and his testimony vital. The smiling turns me off due to the horrendous murders and crimes.
He is a graduate of Criminal Justice! Even without that, most people know that you don’t tamper with a crime scene- unless one is trying to get rid of evidence.
Bless this poor man. You can tell he loves Paul and wanted to give his brother the benefit of the doubt. It’s a shame Paul didn’t have him as a father, instead of the POS sitting at the defense table.
If alex is innocent ,then when is he going to stop crying everytime maggie and paul are mentioned and get angry and demand the cops find those responsible ?
Man... Nobody wants to believe someone they love could do something so heinous. The mind is a powerful thing. This man knows that his brother did this, 100%. But some people are capable of completely commiting to a narrative. And some people are very good at playing it out and living it. But deep down, I believe those people know the truth. So they dig their heels in even more and ultimately live the rest of their lives playing a role, and ALMOST even convincing themselves of what they know not to be true. Can't even imagine. People are complicated. And I bet the way these brothers grew up made them very skilled at playing roles and acting out self constructed narratives. 2 lawyers and 1 salesman.
I completely agree. He seems to be in complete denial. I don't think he was trying to be deceptive, just completely unwilling to believe his brother could do something so heinous. (And certainly was trying to help his brothers case with all his answers.) Even at the end of this video when the state was questioning him about the CFO of Alex's law firm (Jeanine) saying Alex claimed his dad had taken a turn for the worse, which was patently false, John began getting angry that this lawyer was implying Alex lied to Jeanine. And even implied himself it was Jeanine who must have heard Alex wrong. Which has to be one of the most clear cases of denial I've ever seen. Time and again it's been proven Alex is an adept and practiced liar. Even admitting it himself on the stand. And yet his brother refuses to believe that Alex might have been lying on this occasion?? That it's more likely Jeanine heard wrong or is lying herself? Just unreal. I'm sure John is a nice guy, but he's need to open his eyes to reality.
Its just way too horrific to say out loud, even silently in their own head. Psychologists will say getting somebody to say out loud " This person is abusive to me" can take years.
I hate when we lose family. I know its very hard on the Murdagh families. I know how it feels to lose family its never easy. My prayers go out to all of Maggies and Pauls family.
Perfect example of how people can show what they want others to see and hide what they don’t: “Maggie and Alex had a GREAT relationship.” “Alex was very close to the boys; they always came first.”
@@plumlazy I can't stand Alex, but no they wouldn't necessarily. I'm very close with my siblings and call daily but once I'm off the phone, they could be doing anything? And if they are a seasoned liar like Alex you would have no reason to doubt them!

This guy is crooked just like the rest of his family. Get your head out of the clouds
Fake
Why does it seem like Jim the defense lawyer for Alex Murdaugh keeps asking questions that are basically burying Alex!!!
I feel like he’s the best liar of all of them
The Murdaughs are so good at manipulation. It's a family trait. And judging by these comments you all are lapping it up.
Don’t forget he was in the hospital trying to get people to lie about who was driving the boat
Seriously...
Who put that thermostat there?
I keep looking at that too!! Lol
And they keep that thing at 66 degrees! It’s gotta be chilly in that courtroom
@@loveatfirstknit Rather that than people sweating and having to smell Alex’s prison butt….
Chilly enough looking at the Murdaugh family.
😂😂😂😂
How is Harpootlian gonna complain about the state taking so long! Tell him to look at the family annihilator sitting next to him!
Man this lawyer sounds so insecure when he asks questions
he's trying to play a role. elicit sympathy. maybe it works for him in some trials but here...no. I like him though, does not seem arrogant.
And there you have it... guilty verdict .. 👏👏👏👏👏
Do these brothers ever just answer a question without a soliloquy.
I wish somebody would release John Marvin's and Randy's interviews.
I wouldn't trust this guy acts like a politician
Agree
The fact that he started cleaning up the crime scene.. started washing down the crime scene alone makes me suspicious that he was involved. How dare he do that during a active investigation.
The crime had been released before John Marvin started cleaning
he had permission ?
The crime scene had been released 🙄
The crime scene had been released.. 🙄 John just totally forgot to mention he wasn't the *Only Saint* there mopping up blood and bits of Paul.
*Mark Ball* helped clean up. It's all there in the trial footage with Mark on the stand. Mr. Mark Ball *is* a _Genuinely_ lovely gentle quiet man.
How many times do you need to hear they were done investigating and he was given permission to clean it.
Why is he smiling like this is a guy talking having a beer? Weird with the circumstances
He's not smiling LOOK
Why he can’t stop smiling? Is this amusing? Crazy people
A lot of people smile when nervous 😟
It seems like I read this past week that Paul was ADD, which would make sense if he was.
And drinking alcohol at his age like a 30 yr old drunk. Yes he was a spoiled brat. But did not earn a blasting to his head.
These things are symptoms of Paul's ADHD.
100% sweet man. I’m so happy to know Buster has him. He will undoubtedly be his father figure now.
Buster is a killer too
@@digitaldemocracyai-rob You may be on to something! I’ve binged most of this trial now and everywhere you turn there’s something fishy.
@@tmusa2002 My suspicion is that Alex had been blackmailed for a murder Buster committed. No way all that money was spent on drugs. The feds need to start probing every aspect. As you said, the whole thing stinks.
I think Buster resembles him a lot, too!
Buster is shady . This whole family is!!!!
Maggie and paul did have blood on their habds, too!
Since when can a civilian clean up a crime scene
Friends in low places
Unbelievable !!
The police did a terrible job of securing the crime scene.
They did a horrible job from start to finish... it's like they've never seen not one episode of CSI 🥴
I was thinking the same thing after Alex’s brother said he started cleaning like what???
Then there was the law school reunion on the property that same night. Who goes to an active crime scene?! If anything - you stay away, so as not to get implicated! I’ve never heard of a crime, packed a suitcase and ran to the crime scene; never, not once.
@@chellierenae SOP
its almost like...they were in on it or something
Why did he clean the crime scene? Where was the police??? Wow!.
Had permission
They need to investigate the whole family.
Is it just me or are there sirens in the background constantly during this trial? What is going on in that small town?
Yes why the constant sirens.... are they replaying body cam videos during testimony
This man is in denial.
Good call.
He seems like a really nice guy.
Very kind man
Listening to these testimonies really help me to further understand the saying…the dead does no wrong.
Why such an uncomfortable chair to sit in for hours???
Why are people saying he’s genuine? This is a family with history of covering things up & lying.. & why was he there cleaning up the crime scene?! He’s obviously covering things up too. They both seem guilty
Why is he smiling the entire time?
Weirdo.
He's not
@@debravowell8337 No he's not smiling the entire time, but does switch from tears to a big smile pretty quickly. Theatrical talent runs in the family.
It’s not really a smile.

If i hear the phrase "Paw Paw" one more time..😅🤣
It's pretty annoying, I would agree..

So bizarre!
It’s their way of sounding relatable to the jury.

It's a southern equivalent of Vinnie.
He decided to kill his wife and son while his dad was in the hospital fighting for his life & his mom suffering from severe dementia wow!!
He's too quick to answer and he can't look at the jury...hmmm
Do you mean anecdotes?
@@garfield2439 Yes, thank you. Corrected.
This guy sits down and is beaming and looking happy just to be there. Bizarre reaction to say the least!
He was happy he could help.
He’s in the equipment business! Big giant smile!
So the brother thinks its ok to clean a crime scene wtf
Probably after they where all done. I had to clean up my brothers then call EMERGENCY clean up people to lift up all our carpet and floor boards. It was awful!
He wasn't thinking straight and did that out of respect to his nephew. Still..he needed to leave it. And if SLED did their job correctly, yellow tape per crime scene would have been around the property. I can't stand the lame cops.
It was a released crime scene
How much stolen money was used to buy equipment from your company or help in your business? That's what I would have asked.
Also how much money did he hide selling Alex's farming equipment?
HERE IS THE BROTHER THAT BEHAVES LIKE JOEL OSTEEN, WHEN NOT BUSY CORRUPTING CRIME SCENES.
Don’t be fooled by his demeanor.
LOL! This man knew how his relatives were and kept them at least an hour away from all that madness.
I don’t believe a word he says.
They all wreak of arrogance and used to getting their way on anything! They are trying way too hard to be super sweet!
Agree, acts like he's at a social event.
*reek
Great liars, that’s the family trait🤬
👏👏👏👏🎯
Agree 👍
Was all the smiling and being a bit funny planned as a strategy?? I have to believe it was because this is his brother and his testimony vital. The smiling turns me off due to the horrendous murders and crimes.
The smiling could be nervousness
Could be nerves?
He is a graduate of Criminal Justice! Even without that, most people know that you don’t tamper with a crime scene- unless one is trying to get rid of evidence.
Exactly.
It was no longer a crime scene
Thats strange yeah... But he was extremely emotional, this was family, you dont act or think like you normally would... Still something to note.
Poor man. Seems like a descent guy.
Why not just have your brother confess?
I feel like he’s so genuine and sincere…I may be wrong.
Aww, this guy's a genuine human. I bet he was always more of a dad to Paul, he seems younger, sounds like they were buddies 😓
But why did he try to clean up the boat after the boat crash and then go and clean up the kennels after the murders?
Bless this poor man. You can tell he loves Paul and wanted to give his brother the benefit of the doubt. It’s a shame Paul didn’t have him as a father, instead of the POS sitting at the defense table.
He’s at a murder trial. What’s with the smiling and chuckling throughout the trial?.
I said the same thing!!
That could be entirely down to nerves.
No,that behaviour doesn’t appear normal to me.
I wonder if the other brother is on drugs, Did they know Alex was a druggie?
@@marilynsnedden1709 They claimed they didn't know.

I hate when we lose family. I know its very hard on the Murdagh families. I know how it feels to lose family its never easy. My prayers go out to all of Maggies and Pauls family.
He knows his bro is a murderer! Common sense.
He must take after his mother’s side of the family and not the dirty lawyers. He even notes his pride in not being a lawyer.
Perfect example of how people can show what they want others to see and hide what they don’t: “Maggie and Alex had a GREAT relationship.” “Alex was very close to the boys; they always came first.”
Haven’t the brothers been catching Alex in lies all his life?
You would if you were as close as they claim to be
@@plumlazy I can't stand Alex, but no they wouldn't necessarily. I'm very close with my siblings and call daily but once I'm off the phone, they could be doing anything? And if they are a seasoned liar like Alex you would have no reason to doubt them!
