I never understood the beginning of this game. Isn't it MK1 canon that the tournament ended with Liu Kang beating Goro in his lair, and then Shang Tsung? And that Scorpion killed Bi Han? This just makes it seem like they gathered every fighter in one room and had them fight it out randomly. Is it just a different timeline altogether?
If the original timeline had a story mode like today's games, it would so be like this. I know there was the Konquest mode in Deception and Amrageddon, but that focused on an "observer" while this focused on the main characters' storylines.
Why didn't they create a game just like this and definitely in 4k? instead of make traditional fight games that boring and quickly finished only in a day. i know some hardcore fans doesn't like this game but dude games like this is fun to played many times..

No, they dont have their own campaign. they have their own movesets but in cutscenes they have the voices of Liu kang and Kung lao. you can unlock them via cheats in the PAL version or: Finish as kung lao for subzero Finish as liu kang for scorpion Unlock both in co-op
