The weed and still water in the lake is starving the oxygen level hence the carp are close to surface and gasping for air. Youneed to drag the pond weed out, grappling hooks or similar and get the lake pump working.
The pond water needs aeration quickly. Those fish are not playing or jumping for joy. They are trying to stay alive since the pond conditions have been ignored. Pull those weeds out of the water! Get that fish fountain going.
I love that you’re posting more often Phil. It’s a delight to spend some time “with you.” You have such a wonderful outlook on life.
Life may not be all about working, but you do enjoy a challenge! Carry on, Phil! 🍷
I could not have said it better @kathywillis7459
My Husband is a fixer, as well! We have saved a lot of money, due to his ability to fix things!! Be proud, Phil!❤
I love your philosophy, Phil-- buy it cheap, repair, remodel, refurbish, recycle. Very psychologically rewarding when you can save a piece of 'junk' and use it. Livin' the dreams. Crack on.
It sure is an absolutely beautiful day.
Lightning makes my day, such a sweet boy❤🐕
I absolutely LOVE how your dog talks to you
Love to hear Lightening talk...he's beautiful Phil 🐕
You are right. It is an absolutely beautiful day. Get outside and enjoy it. You don't get enough of those where you live.
Spectacular opening from the blue sky to the birds and gorgeous scenery!
Hubby who's a welder thinks it is machine cast iron. He also said to test it put a magnet near it , on it.
Hey Phil, I agree with you, go and enjoy the rest of the day. The rain will be back and that will make a great workshop day. Enjoy. Love from N.Y.
My husband would be so jealous of your workshop. Such a great space to work on all the things.
It’s not his workshop. Someone lets him use space in their building.
My son too.
@@atomicrancher3745 It is his workshop. He stores and works on his machinery. Who cares if he's not the "official owner" in possession of ownership papers.
@@marytaylor9185👍🏼
Your mechanical proficiency is incredible. I was a city boy in New York and never touched tools. I remain totally incompetent. If something needs to be fixed, I pay for it. However, I am very impressed with the equity that you put in.
Goodness Phil, the work looks insurmountable but I know you will do it and do it well. Enjoy the wine. Enjoy your friends the lovely weather and of course lightning. I think he’s your best mate and it’s great that he can talk to you, I just love it. Have a peaceful, happy and productive weekend. 👌🏻👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Perfect time to sharpen the lawnmower blades as well
It would be very interesting to see a restoration video of that mower! Bring it back to new ! Phil. 😊
Wow you are so knowledgable Did you qualify as an engineer or mechanic You seem to be able to address all of the problems related to the machines that you own
Very impressive 😊
Yes do go outdoors and enjoy life too Have a great weekend
Leave the collector off of the mower. With the amount of grass you have you will need to empty it too often. Love your dog
BUT it depends how often he plans to mow. Its no good leaving long grass cuttings lying on top of the grass which is trying to grow.
Phil you need to purchase yourself a few Beaver Traps to take care of the Coypu and to rescue the banks of the Chateau Mote.
Too high of numbers with no conservation control spells trouble in the not too distant future.
Phil, I'm so pleased you've got your mojo back, and by the way Lightening is talking back to you, I think the dog is glad to have you back too!! Enjoy the weather, garden, and life in general. Take care of yourself.
Loved the intro music! I was blessed to a a girl much like your Lightning for 15 years. Her name was Gabby. You know why!
All work and no play, makes Phil a dull boy! 🍻😁
You can do this Phil! Excited to see what your going to use to fabricate the missing bits. Enjoy your doggie, wine and friends…
I hope that you have a good weekend. My son is always fixing our lawn tractor too. It is old. We have swapped the engine twice and the transmission 3 times with many other fixes. He got tired of welding the deck, and replacing bushings. We bought a new deck and he built it with all new parts. Now our very old lawn tractor has a bigger engine, and it cuts beautiful like a new mower. Lawn tractors have doubled in price for a new one in the US. We cut 4 acres of grass every week! Happy cutting!
This is why I rarely do DIY jobs around the house. What looks like it will be an easy fix always turns into a major operation.
You could probably mig weld that pump housing but based on the break pattern it wouldn’t last. I haven’t seen it in your videos well enough to judge how it is put together but depending on the pump style it may be possible to get a used pump that is other wise not working with intact housing and replace the housing. If you’d like to reduce the amount of time you spend fixing the machines the best bet is to buy a new one. As for the mower, doing matinence is key. Even if it’s after season or before season each year. Cleaning, sharpening, oiling, the occasional paint job and a general check out will reduce your Time spent repairing the machine. I really want to know how many hours does that beast of a mower have on it?
Get your waders on Phil while it’s nice and sunny and get the weed out for the poor fish.
I l-o-v-e the dialogues with your dog! He's a star.
Out of the Chaos comes new choices.
enjoy your day, we are having beautiful spring weather too, and getting in the garden has done me a world of good. Give Lightening a good scruff up for me.
The wine and visiting friends was a great call!
One day I hope to see you cleaning out the mote . It has way too much vegetation growing in it .
It's a feast for the eyes and ears around your chateau.
Amazon sells a product called Mo Deck that prevents grass clippings from building up in mowers. It is a polymer coating for mowers. Good luck!
Perfectly imperfect is still perfect :)
We relate to the weed growing in the seat of the mower.
Hi, Phil 🙂 you had asked everyone about the birds talking around your moat...what kind of birds are they? To me,they sound like a family of kingfishers. Normally they are solitary, but it's Spring. They like to eat small fish, but I think they will eat frogs and bugs too. They like to perch on posts or branches that are near or overhanging ponds and streams so they can see their prey better. That being said; look for likely perches and watch for any smaller birds who sit at the spot often. Time lapse video to see who it is.
Hi Phil. You seem to have turned a corner. You definitely seem happier. Good luck to you and post when you can. 👍🏻
Wish we had clear blue skies here in Iowa , so I can finish planting my veggies and flower gardens... There has been too much rain in the past few weeks.. 😮
What a beautiful day! I agree that it is best to take advantage of the beautiful weather and spend some time relaxing and enjoying a delicious glass of wine! I sure Lightning will enjoy your company. Life is too short to spend it working all the time. You can always work on the mower another day. Glad you have such a great perspective on life. Well done.
Sometimes it just helps to know what you're dealing with....and that's a big accomplishment in one day.
Good for you Phil, enjoy your day!!
Have a nice weekend Phil.
Enjoy the sunshine with your friends. Have a great weekend Phil.🙏❤️
Hey Phil, I feel your pain, we have 2 acres of grass that needs mowing and our mower is in the shop. Since my husband can't work on the mower anymore we have to take it to a small engine place and wait on them to do the repairs. Oh well, it is what it is!!! Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Hi 👋
At a glance it looks like a Aluminium hard casting casing 🥺
Hopefully your welders a interchangeable MIG,TIG and all the other good stuff in between kinda one 👍🫶😁
Yep that’s the one out into the sunshine …Rome wasn’t built in one day 😁🙌🫶 enjoy your wine 🍷
Hi lightning ❤
That looks like some nice compost you’ve emptied from the mower, Phil!
Love the chateau life.. have a great weekend Phil ❤🎉😊
Dear Phil, I know that you’re going through a difficult time and I want to thank you for being so positive about it. It’s not easy to be a role model when you’re feeling like shit because of what’s going on in your life, but there are so many people who need to see someone like you, simply putting 1 foot in front of the other and carrying on. They also need to see someone who makes time for what’s important - themselves
The lawn will still be there when you get to it, but time with your friends and your dog are finite as are we.
I look forward to seeing how this transformative part of your life will allow you to continue to focus on yourself and the joy the chateau brings you, instead of being a slave to details and hard work that will always be part of your stewardship of your chateau.
Just remember that the château has survived because people made do with what they had and fixed and repaired the most important parts of the building, but none of them could afford to make it a perfect showpiece instead, you have a beautiful home that looks lived in and tells its own story because it’s not perfect.
Fighting the good fight is not about winning, it’s about fighting, and If the fight is unwinnable, you just have to keep standing and moving forward.
I think you’re fighting and winning - and you should be proud of that.
Lightning has so much to say!!
We shouldn't worry about the small stuff, when it's a beautiful day. That's for free.
HI, I tend to do that 'recycling' approach to equipment, mend and re-purpose etc., so much better than just getting new things, which is outside my budget anyway. (I think the bird you asked about is probably a magpie.)
I knew that looked like hard, challenging work, my back and legs hurt just watching you pull that mower apart. It is great that you can fabricate those essential, but key parts, welding them into the thin, rusty metal will be the next challenge. Old metal like that blows out so easily. Still knowing the mower monster you have to slay is half the battle, getting the plan to slay it is the other half. Relax and get the plan right, battle can start during the next dull, wet day.
Phil, if anyone can resolve your mechanical issues, it is you.❤
Enjoy your wine and Lightning time! 😊
Hi Philip wondering if you’ve got an update on evicting those pesky rodents from your property. Your grounds are looking stunning ❤
if it cannot be replaced or welded , in the States we have a product called J-B Weld . simply , it's an epoxy glue for metal . i checked Amazon and found this product available in France . i've experienced various results , but it may be worth a try if the part isn't experiencing undue stress
Cheers to perspective 🍹
and sunshine, good friends... and the humble tomato, cuz why not, the night is young... right? 😁
Good choice to switch your day up.
Good evening Phil chateau looks beautiful. those are carps omg!
What a great piece of property
What a beautiful blue sky...
Good for you. You can fix things. ❤
Good thinking. Hope you enjoyed your wine. ❤🐨
So much more positive Phil ✨️ love to watch your videos ❤
With the pump look into having it tig welded back together. Might work
Phil, love that opening music…. 🎶 …. No idea on the machinery fix but you’re just about a genius with machines and repairing them. I’m thinking if it’s a cast metal you can’t weld it I’m thinking…. but what do I know 😆 you could sharpen the blades before putting back together ✔️💯🤷♂️ Good idea go out and do the machine on a wet day yay! Come back soooon
I love that you have loads of cool shit. I wanna tour of all the stuff.
Your carp are loving your natural moat garnish they are doing well what do you feed them? I agree some kind of cleaning would be useful. Ryan's parents and uncle have fish as well interesting what they feed them. Hope you are able to fix your equipment a shame you don't have a barn or outbuilding to use but glad you have somewhere else to share and do so. You have a gardeners house but I know that is in not usable at the moment. Maybe one day you can tackle that for use even if you rented it out or use for storage. Your machine needs a bit of paint as well as a fix. I am surprised Billy wouldn't have some idea how to fix it not mechanically inclined me. What if you contact the maker of said machine if they are still around I saw that Iseki sbc500 is still around or being sold so that is good.
It’s a shame you don’t have a good place to store your equipment at the chateau, but having the shop is probably a godsend. I hope you can get the two pieces of equipment fixed and running again. Have a great weekend! xx
Alternately, if the hydraulic pump housing is cast aluminum, you can get low temperature aluminum/magnesium alloy brazing rods from Belmont metals (and other suppliers) that you can use with a plain propane torch - but it is probably more likely that the housing is made out of a zinc alloy (Zamac) and has a low enough melting point that you would have to use a zinc brazing alloy. It's unlikely that the housing is made from an iron based alloy like cast iron, but if it is, you can use ordinary brass brazing rods, but you have to be very careful because thermal shock will crack it more.
You can figure out what the housing is made from by measuring the volume by submerging the whole thing, getting the mass, and then calculating the density and comparing with the density of aluminum, zinc, and cast iron
Getting all done❤
Phil, you’re getting the work/life balance right! A little work and a little play is just right!
My attitude to work, too! 😂
Love you Phil i wish i'd had your outlook after my break up. You're amazing
Ooooo. Those blades need quite a bit of sharpening, too. I agree, a glass of wine in the sunshine while playing with Lightning is much preferable! ❤
Lightning is such fun! You go play with him... he deserves it... I love it. Phil, you are fantastic... you'll have that all patched up in no time I'm sure.
A man that can fix stuff is far more attractive than one who can't. 😊
Love the quick updates, too. [Some others' videos are really too long, actually. ]
Happy Friday🎉
I totally agree with you. Glad you enjoyed the sunshine. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
Have a great weekend. Stay safe
All in due time Phil. Enjoy the beautiful day and have a glass of wine with your friends. Enjoy the weekend as well! Love the music at the beginning of the video!!
Dang that mower deck is in rough shape but nothing you can handle after watching you restore the Range Rover. Enjoy the lovely weather!
Hang in there, things will come together and will brighten your day with or without the sun.
enjoy your wine cheers 🥂
That was fun!!
It's amazing how you repair stuff. I wouldn't know where to start. It is fun watching.
All of these tools are good when they work but they need maintainance.
The repairs can wait a bit longer. You need to enjoy the sunshine and have a good chat with Lightening and your friends. Lightening seems happier too!
The mower screams "Run Away!"
Buy a newer one & get cracking on a chill summer.
Hell weld a mower deck under your Maserati.😅
Happy Friday 🍷
Hi Lightening 🤗👍 good luck Phil on fixing your equipment🍀👍
Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
I tried to follow what you way saying about the mechanics but tbh you may as well be speaking Swahili. Wish I understood stood about engines but have absolutely no clue. Fair play. Enjoy your wine and chat with the dog, sounds like much more fun x
Have a great weekend Phil & Lightning, I didn’t hear any of the Magpies calling today, they must have been out for their breakfast 😂 K🇬🇧❤️
How fortunate that Lightenings Dad can fix just about anything! I’ve heard he’s quite adept with anything that runs on gas! Maybe he can help you out!
And … He has a lovely sense of humor and a bunch of love for his Dog and his home!
Good to see you again. I think the housing on the chipper is cast aluminum, you might be able to do all your welding on the outside of it with some JB Weld on the inside but I would add a piece of thin steel around the outside to help brace and give it more strength. Anything is possible, where there is a will there is a way. Have a great day
la, la, la 🙂 commenting to support Phil in his endeavors at his beautiful and interesting château. Yessssss, & Wondering if they have mosquitoes there. 👀 lol 🦟
❤❤❤
For the shredder hydraulic pump, different fluid psi ratings require different metal types. Yours looks like pot metal or aluminum. You could TIG weld the broken aluminum or pot metal parts together. Steel would be a preferred metal.
Phil, did you find out what kind of metal the hydraulic pump has?
