This was a class tip. So simple explanation. Went out and tried it and what an improvement to my game went for 15-20 feet from the pin to consistently hitting within 5 feet from the pin.
"Bounce is your friend" - Well said Mr Poulter. Similar to a bunker shot, adding bounce will also help you to not digging into the ground off a wet soft lie. If you have a tendency to dig into the ground before the ball on chip/pitch shots, opening the club face slightly - and therefore adding bounce - can help you a lot.
I like this explanation. Almost all the youtube videos about bounce make it sound like more bounce is always better. But Poulter is saying the opposite for tight lies. I guess it really all depends on what your typical miss is. If you blade your chips, then you need less bounce. If you fat your chips, then you need more bounce.

This was incomprehensible.
2021 Champion Golfer!
I don’t understand bounce, if I try to use it I blade the ball
Bounce can be your enemy too if it bounce up too early and the club lower edge hit the ball!
My 56 is 14 bounce
That means I should have another club with lower bounce for tight lies
In fairness to Poulter that was all over the shop. Poor attempt at explaining how bounce works.
Pretty poor explanation
Anymore brown nosing and ill be sick
