I was your round 3 opponent - the reason I took so long to cast Overrun was that I also had Liliana in hand, I was going to slam Liliana but then realized I should check if Overrun was lethal, and it was
Lol you sandbagged that hard. 3x4 is 12 hes at 12 life with 2 lifelink to account for. That math takes like 5 seconds. you took over a minute and thats also not evaluating on your turn as well
@@salliej03 personally, I would never, even with gourmand back, he would have no board and would be at 2 life, so best to play to win than to not lose
@@markonom2 Definitely agree with playing to win, though I believe he would untap at 2 life with Savior facing down the Llanowar Elves and the Banishing Light for the Beetle. Of course the opponent may have not played Overrun if the Gourmand was left back, but we are winning that game if nothing changes based on the Ghoul/Skeleton and Crawler.
At 52:18 I was surprised you didn't sac the -Tinybones- Legitimate Businessperson or Burglar Rat to Eaten Alive. Even though you have enough mana to cast Eaten Alive for 5, it seems better to put a creature into your graveyard so that if they kill the Panda -- like they immediately did in response with Bite Down -- it has a target to get back. Good games, shame this deck didn't quite make it; it seemed very solid.
I took a stab at Day 1 and built what I thought was a very solid b/w deck with some clear sac and recursion. Fumbled with some very dumb play errors and didn't respect Midnight Snack with Make Your Move in hand one game where I got ran over by weenies. Been learning a lot through your videos, every time there's a pick to make I can pause and run through my own thought process and then see what I'm missing in comparison to yours.
I had a disappointing Day 2, sadly. The draft at my table was very poor in card quality. I was able to scrounge together a decent BW sac deck with several bits of recursion, double Gourmand, and some removal, but even with a turn 2 Gourmand half the time, quality won out over quantity. Hope the experiences of you and anyone else at Day 2 went better, Paul ❤
Nice deck! Great curve, bombs, and removal. Was really surprised it didn’t go all the way. But in the bright side, it just means more content, lol. Looking forward for more videos. I didn’t do well in my Day2, so hoping u did well.
Hey Paul! At 51:49, what do you think about attacking with either one of your 1/1’s (maybe both) just to try to get the panda online in case they do have the byte?
Great way to start my morning haven’t watched the full video yet but good luck Paul and hopefully this goes good for you. I know you don’t love sealed 😂
I feel like your draws were very unlucky most games. Sure, some good topdecks obviously with the meteor Golem and the Panda came quite nice once I believe, but overall it was a lot of lands with some removal in between. It deserved better, I blame the algorithm for dealing you bad cards.
Pretty solid deck, better than any of my pools yesterday, unlucky draws on your part. I wish they did Arena Open in draft both days, would that be so difficult ? They did once already right ? (not sure)
I would have had to try to find a way to play the Alesha....especially with stuff like Gourmand in the deck. Not sure if that means you would have needed to go UB so you could use the saltwater cliffs or not....I preferred the BW shell as well...but yeah....I would have tried for the Alesha
Do you feel like reaching day 2 with this set is more luck based than the previous one? I know crokeyz isn´t the best when it comes to limited events but he´s still pretty good and he had 16 failed attempts at it
Foundations Sealed Deck - Very difficult! I appreciated the observation that the blue and black configuration was disadvantaged compared to white based on the number of BB UU cards that would be in the deck. I might have missed that as an issue with the build. Also lol "GG Salt bag!"
This has been a hard format to trophy with. I'm doing....OK but I've only trophied twice. I've had good decks underperform and somehow blue/green decks picking up a surprising amount of wins.
I so want to try one of these events, but with my luck I'll get a pool of 10 unplayable rares, or 6 in color bomb rares and get 0-3 due to mana screw/flood 🤣
That’s this format unfortunately. You only have a few cards which really impact your chances of winning a game, and every color struggles with flooding and lacks good ways to dig at common.
When your opponent plays a forest turn 1 with no plays but Arena appears to be holding priority for them AND there isn't a creature to target, you know 100% they have a bushwack in their hand. You should have just played a 2 drop and held up the ghoul activation.
That's not even remotely true. 20-40% of games are won or lost by the randomness of the game where even the worst player will beat the best player (I'm assuming some skill floor of bad player where they play their lands and attack with their creatures and not intentionally lose).
I love you Paul but seeing you getting salty is realy funny 😂❤ On a serious note i cannot believe this deck didn’t trophy, im glad i stopped after 1 try, hate hate this format.
i'm not about that life. i good game my opponents under 2 conditions: 1) I'm about to lose and will concede immediately after 2) they pre-emptively good gamed when they were ahead on board and then I turn it around and have the win many turns later. I know people do it differently and that's totally fine but I'm allowed to mute those people
@haumph I also say it as they swing for lethal or have obvious lethal on board. I don't usually click concede unless I'm sure I will lose but it would take 3+ turns for the game to actually end.
OK so opponent has, literally, the best Offer You Can't Refuse possible, and then still loses to the two treasure tokens. That card is a F minus minus minus. Like if you cast it you guaranteed lose because you just put a Black Lotus in your opponent's hand. I lost it laughing at your commentary during the lilsalty game
So sad to me that various chat emotes ("Nice!" Etc) always seem sarcastic in your case. I always say it totally unironically :( if they have a nice play or card I want to let em know!
43:47 “GG salt bag” 😂

I was your blue/green opponent at 48 min. Good game. Nice top deck meteor golem. I was very sad. I'll prolly post my PoV to my magic channel later.
“GGs saltbag,” got me really good. Fantastic. 😂
That had me cracking up.
SAME! HAHA
43:52 HAHAHa I’m weak the good game sent me
Love hearing you talk through how to build a deck. I’ve learned a lot watching you lately!
Awesome, thank you!

Dang! That deck was pretty nutso. Sorry that it didn't go better.
Great content Paul! How do you sort your building pool by color? like at 3:23
You have to manually drag the cards AFAIK
editing magic
i manually do it while pausing the record button to make for a better viewing experience for all of you!
@@haumph Ahh well it's much appreciated. I was just wondering if there was a shortcut for it or not
Made it to draft 2 for the first time with a 3-1 dimir deck! Hoping to ride that wave to my first cash as well!
best of luck!
This may be the only recorded proof of anyone playing An Offer You Can't Refuse in an unsideboarded FDN limited game
Had an opponent play it against me in best of 1 draft the other day too. “There are dozens of us” this has happened to. 😅

yes I think this sealed format is the worst one of all the sets this year

You are so good at drafting you definitely lose a few points with sealed.
I just made it to draft 2 off day 2. I have no doubt you made it too.

My experience with the format so far. Win rate is 20% lower than the lowest I've ever had.
mine is also significantly lower in sealed deck (roughly 15%)
4-3 was the furthest I got. Way too many bombs it feels like. Lost one game to triple Kaito.
Yes oh so many bombs
Sad.
🤮 this set blows chunks
