Visit to Scotland and the Highlands in July 1993
    Part One
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of my first trip of this year to Scotland and the Highlands. Initially to capture on film the sleepers being double headed with class 37s and the Perth to Inverness services, loco hauled with 37s. The video is in three parts due to the overall length of material so I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. The first ports of call are familiar ones, Carstairs station and Mossend yard and a re visit to Perth station (My old depot in the 1970s). Moving then into the Highlands for some spectacular scenery and great locomotive action albeit at a leisurely pace. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

@@RoyTheMouth I remember there were some drivers ,one in particular who had the same done to them back when I was at Perth, they became drivers but within station limits. That was "Darky" a loveable chap and he was great fun to work with. When I say work he stayed in the "Bothy" and played dominoes while as a Sman you were left to do most of the work...shunting, coupling, fuelling the locos. One day I turned up for 12.00 prep & disposal and the fuel road was hanging out the end with locos waiting to be serviced and where was "Darky" in the messroom, He had not been out to have a look for around 3 hours....aaahh those were the days Roy....I miss all the blokes up there, Jimmy Crammond, Stuart Laing (Who I saw in 2022 on a visit, Arthur Mcmahon....so many to mention...All my regards ....Mark

Always found it odd that they stuck the 90s on freight, rather than takes some of the older locos off the WCML IC services.

I believe the reason was maybe the 90s were more powerful than 86s and 87s....just a guess.....many thanks and my sincere regards......Mark
