    I know I'm probably really late to this but I have a 2018 colorado with an on board air system. I absolutely LOVE it!!! I have 8 air horns too!! I actually have 4 horns sitting in my engine bay under the coolant RIGHT where yall put the compressor... I have 2 viair compressors for a cfm of 4 and 250 PSI capabilities, along with a 3 gallon tank. It's all actually mounted under the bed. Using the spare tire cross member for all the brackets. I still made it so I could keep my spare tire under there as well. It's well hidden, doesn't interfere with anything, and along with an air hose mount with a 1/2 inch air line connection to really be able to move air in large quantities for amazing volume for anything. The air hose quick release is actually just under my bumper right below the spare tire access hole. I have a 25ft, and 100ft air hose behind the back seats rolled up against the wall. The 1/2 inch air hose from the tank to the quick release makes airing up tires, floating, pulls and anything else a simple breeze. I also have a pressure control valve under the gas flap next to the gas tank so if running air for air guns or anything else. I can lower the pressure to whatever desire I would like. Best thing I did to my truck. This was over 3 years ago as well.

    As always, you guys did a great job (minus the initial installation of a rubber hose) with the installation. You could have saved yourself some time and hassle buying/mounting a PowerTank CO2 system. Not like you need the air for the lockers. It airs up 2-3x faster than the ARB. No need to disassemble the air box/coolant, run hoses, remove spare tire hardware. Again, good clean install.

    • @JasonExplainsThings

      Yeah the hose situation is pretty frustrating. He tried to get the right thing first, then we hoped the cheaper hose would work, and braided hoses are still backordered. But all the info in the video is good. And before the hose expanded and blew off the fitting it was inflating tires very quickly.

    First off, the air horn is a must! Another great video gentlemen. Curious if this would fit on our rig (already have a catch can bracket installed utilizing the post behind the coolant tank). By the way the icon kit and wheels/tires set up are still holding up great (going on a year now with them).

    • @PNW_Bison
      @PNW_Bison 2 роки тому +1

      Awesome, glad to hear it. Regarding the 589 mount, I'd be wary if you already have the catch can there. The fitment was really tight, but there are other mounting options available for the Colorado in different locations if you're interested.

  • @leolabond5856
    @leolabond5856 2 роки тому +1

    The reason the hose might have been blowing off is because you didn't install the air manifold kit with it. (The ARB single compressor has one built in, the double does not) On the ARB instructions they say to use the manifold if you are going to be filling up tires. This is to lower the amount of heat going into the hose after it. I did the same install on my Bison a few months ago with the under-hood double compressor with the manifold kit and I have not had any issues. The bracket used from 589 fab has mounting points for the manifold as well so it is an easy addition.

      It was definitely the hose in this case. New hose is holding nicely. 👍

  • @BowTied69

    Good vid! It wasn't really talked about in the video why you chose to mount the compressor under the hood vs other locations; any comments? Also, no to train horn - it makes me think of the juvenile vids of guys scaring people at the mall. jmo Upgrading the stock horn or adding a second normal horn, sure that'd be great.

    Maybe I missed it in one of the other videos, or I’m just an idiot…. Did you do a spare tire relocate? Or is there a way to lower the spare & still delete the factory “hangar” so you could run the spare as usual (under truck) & still convert the tire lift port to the air port on the rear bumper?

  • @gregnauman922

    I noticed you connected the ARB wiring to the fused area of the battery connections not straight to the battery posts itself. Is this OK as the ARB can draw quite a bit of current?

But I’ve been off roading several times now and have had no issues with the 32’s. But any bigger and I’d need a lift and trimming. Next week’s video will be Tacoma related. 😀

    “Full rear Bumper air outlet” seems cool but it’s a huge waste of time and money. When do you ever air up your tires while moving? Obviously never. Your stopped, one two that compressor uses a a lot of electricity so your truck should be running. So, if your stopped and idling it’s always a good idea to have your hood up to get rid of heat. If your stopped and the hoods up why not plug in your air hose directly to the compressor. This also makes a remote switch dumb. Open hood plug in hose turn on switch all right there. Less time, material, connections and relays equals less to troubleshoot if something’s not working, win, win, win all around.

    • @JasonExplainsThings
      @JasonExplainsThings  Рік тому

      One reason for the relocation is that the air compressor is mounted underneath the coolant reservoir. But yeah do mods how ever you like.
