This guy is legit. Watched you from the first time on street outlaws. After seeing this video on UA-cam you deserve something bigger than a tv show. If I had 100 grand to spend on a motor the block would be on its way to your shop right now. Good to see there is still people like this guy out there. But far and few between.

There was a guy at my hometown track in Delmar Delaware this past season that had a Mike Henson built engine, let me tell you all something Mark and his crue of bad ass Mechanics can build one hell of a engine because that 68 Camaro Running the Mike Henson engine won the whole damn event. Good work guys my hat goes off to you Mike and the team from Gus just a ole truck driver out here in Delaware

All I saw was a hard working man making something out of nothing, and some people can't be pleased. They rather bash on others to make themselves feel better, superior or what have you, but the truth will always outshine the haters. Mike, keep doing what you're doing sir, you're a great example of what working hard means and inspiration to those around you. I enjoyed your video, plan B is an awesome car and it doesn't take much to see how well you do it. Good job Mike!

@@CRUSHFACTORPC Yessir your 210% CORRECT My FATHER TIM TIGNER AKA T&T RACING...... TIM&TRISTIAN...... HE shared so many stories to my now ex wife of 6 years, before he passed I tried to take her up the road and make a small test hit at my house but I was told I was a stupid IDIOT FOR WANTING TO RACE..... When you lived at a track every weekend fri thru sunday night that's all you know and lifestyle we live racing does take Tons of time, At the same time everyone needs support no matter what it is they love doing never knock anyone espically a Husband, Wife, Mother and Father I type this with tears. It's hard everyday but we just have to keep going and hold our head high make fast passes and let them smile above. He was so much like Mike Henson but we never had trouble with any motors we had and that was 1 406 18x SBC MY First drag motor in my old 66 chevy 2, then started breaking great suspension parts all strange and chassis Engineering parts etc. Sold that motor built a 489 BBC AND GOT MY TUBE CHASSIS 4 link car The IRON MAIDEN. MOTOR STILL RUNS STTONG AFTER ALMOST 15 YEARS OF RACING THAT MOTOR ALL OHIO CRANKSHAFT BOTTOM END, OHIO CRANKSHAFT By FAR makes the best parts I've ever ran or used never 1 issue at all. 170 and 250 shots every pass on street and no prep and was always a big tire car lol Daddy said son there's no way that car will hook a small tire!!!! He is sure suprised now in Heaven how the 28x10.5 tires has won 10s of thousands now! I did get the opportunity to RACE PINKS ALL OUT MMP MEMPHIS, TN 2007/2008 Only 2 years they had it there and I was 17 first time and 18 2nd time great memories with the ol 93 oldsmobile callis!!!! Great memories guys never let a WOMAN get you down over something you love and always will do, or anyone else I quit racing 4 years almost and killed Daddy the whole time he hated me letting the car sit like that little did I know he woukdnt ever see it run again 🤦‍♂️........ I can and do respect the time and effort that go into making those huge-HP "street cars" go as quick and fast as they do, but the fact is that its "electronics" that are making it possible to put that kind of power down and make the power in the first place. Even in the "old days" and among the "old-timers" you're lucky to find one "driver" in twenty that both know the basic fundamentals of what makes cars and engines "go" and when it comes to "tuning" and "simple" things like a basic "tune" to get the vehicle from A to B without stalling or blowing off the tires or breaking something, the number of guys that really have a clue gets even smaller. None of it is "rocket science" but I can tell you AS a fellow diesel mechanic and someone who learned "gas motors" at the best "tech school" in the world doing the same first two quarters as the "gas rats" and having my entire career worked on gas-burners just like diesels and building "stock" to "competition" gas-burners and in 25 years of wrenching working on everything from nitro RC engines to GE C-44 diesel-electric freight locomotives, finding an "automotive" mechanic/technician that isn't "scared" of a CARBURETOR is TOUGH these days. I'd hate to try to get them to do something "tough" like change a set of points, adjust dwell and do a basic "tune-up" on a carbureted gas-burner and do carb adjustments. Start talking "propane enrichment" or tuning with a vacuum gauge or mention how impossible it is to "tune" a "leaky" engine and the fact that "carburetor problems" are more often than not intake manifold gasket leaks, loose carb bolts/screws/studs and that you can "tune" on a brand-new carb on a "new motor" that isn't "broken in" yet and especially one with a "big cam" for days and days and never get anywhere because the vacuum signal isn't there and isn't steady and until the engine is "complete" including the air intake system, air filter etc and they've got glazed over eyes and can't wait to go back to their "code reader" and "scan tool" and some "easy" work like replacing injectors on an EFI engine that really needs a new "sock" on the fuel pump, a new fuel pressure regulator and the MAF/MAP and "oxygen sensors" cleaned and checked before ever thinking about "injectors" but because of "electronics" will be "fixed" by simply reducing the leakage at the injectors enough to "band-aid" fuel pressure back up where its supposed to be which will help the engine make enough "power" and "heat" to kinda-sorta "burn clean" the O2 sensors, etc. I honestly think doing things like calling them "02 sensors" when all they are is TEMP SENSORS using EGT and how quickly they are heated and cooled to "extrapolate" the supposed "02 level" in the exhaust gas is irresponsible and "intentional" misinformation trying to make "electronics" sound more capable and "smart" than they actually are and the "victims" aren't "drivers" but "technicians" who could start to put together the pieces they have and find the ones they don't for the "puzzle" of how "electronics" actually work and once "clued in" start to be much better technicians and much more confident and knowledgeable about the basics to the point they'd start to get that if a carburetor can keep an engine "alive" and make for good "driveability" AND produce similar if not superior "fuel economy" simply by how much LESS electrical power a carb/HEI-type ignition system require to OPERATE, they'd be in a position to dramatically increase the "market" for "high performance" parts, vehicles, facilities etc. simply because no amount of "technology" is EVER going to make it as "cheap" to build an "electronic" race car for "street/strip" as it is to find an "old beater" GM A-body or G-body, put together a very "basic" but almost "bulletproof" SBC with a decent converter, trans and gears to go "quick" and "fast" enough on an 1/8-mile "small town" bracket track to know that it doesn't TAKE cubic feet of cash to have a "race car" AND provide them with something they actually "get" as far as how it works and can make simple changes to one at a time to "get faster" or NOT and know exactly WHY its one or the other. I know all "electronic" tuners who know enough to be "dangerous" to anything but their customer's wallets know this the same way "old-timer" tuners do but the worst possible thing that can happen to any "tuner" in his tender years as a "tuner" is to make several changes, "get lucky" and "go faster" and all because the "base tune" was "lean" and all his "tuning" moved things toward "rich" so from that point onward his whole "philosophy" is "more fuel". Of course if you're running "power adders" its damned near impossible to go "too far" with more fuel. Get a naturally-aspirated motor-only "project" and start with "OK" tuning with maybe a little stumble or hesitation and do the "more fuel" thing and figure you need to make big jumps and "tune" the car right into a "rich bog" and only somebody "smart" enough to understand and explain to them how "richer is slower" and "leaner is faster" at low speeds and high loads will "save" them and their car from jumping from "fuel" or at least "jetting" or "injector pulse width to everything else trying to "tune" a "stumble" out of an engine/car that was already getting "too much" fuel and now is getting it by the "gallons" and in the process is getting the cylinders washed down and is losing compression and vacuum so after the initial massive bog and a few revolutions and cycles to "dry out" and "re-oil" the cylinders, suddenly comes spitting, sputtering back to life and "pulls hard" because by the time it gets to the second "launch" its obviously just on the "power circuits" and isn't dealing with "enrichment" and has enough load, enough vacuum signal and enough "inertia" to finally get into its "power band" with a good head of steam and is "breathing" and "burning" strong and clean and doesn't need anything but the "tuning" UNDONE and taken BACK EVEN FURTHER a "step" or two to reduce the pump shot and idle and transition fuel/air adjustments just a touch AND to make sure a good strong and consistent vacuum signal stays in the intake and in the distributor to keep the timing retarded until the advance is needed. There are SO many guys who have NO IDEA that a "vacuum advance" advances the timing when vacuum DROPS rather than increases. Throw in a "vacuum secondary" carb and they're screwed.
I'm telling you, the ONLY thing that makes it possible for "car guys" who can't begin to "tune" much less "build" their own rides to "compete" and be "competitive" and not get consistently "whooped" by "mechanics" spending 1/10th the money on their "personal rides" as the "car guys" but "infinitely" more time given the fact that they start "investing" their time in "winning" the day they pick up a wrench and many "car guys" don't even OWN a wrench besides maybe the "tire iron" in the flat tire "kit" are the facts that not only do "mechanics" who do "get" the basics not have the EXTRA time to put into their own "rides" AND the desire to put their "extra money" into "toys" that are just another "job" in many cases the "hard" job compared to wrenching at their "day job" when they can/could be buying stock "toys" that aren't "fast" but start and run and get from point A to point B whenever the owner wants like motorcycles, boats, RVs or MAYBE a "street rod" or "hot rod" or "vintage" car that may be all "aftermarket" and "high-performance" looking on the outside but is completely or mainly "stock" inside AND the fact that not only is "beating the customer" NOT good for business and a good way to get accused of "cheating" and/or "ripping off" and/or "stealing from" the customer(s) they'd beat, but not ALL THAT MUCH FUN when the "customers" who have everything it takes to "build" and "tune" a car but the ability to do anything but write checks/swipe cards and "prep" and "run" the car at the races.
Because if more "mechanics" had the "balls" guys like you and I do to simply "talk back" when assclowns on the internet are "teaching" and "educating" and "calling out" mechanics/shops on their "social media" accounts that the assclowns only visit in the first place to "learn" from AND had the desire to "invest" valuable "money" and priceless TIME in a hobby where the "competition" is the guys who have to pay someone to do everything BUT "prep" and "build" and "tune" the car and were as thin-skinned and insecure about "car stuff" and dependent on playing "expert" online to try to keep "competition" off the track, inevitably the "posers" would run out of places to "troll" and "contribute" online and/or would get "boxed in" to putting their money where their mouth is or just their "reputation" where their mouth is, the number of "posers" out there would drop along with the number of wannabe "builders" and "tuners" who are really "profiting" MAINLY from the "car guys" clueless enough to "need" a "tuner" or "builder" for their "race car" that's never run a "real" heads-up "drag race" EVER and the steadily but slowly increasing number of good "customers" who want to work with and learn from "mechanics" combined with the decreasing number (relative to the "general population) of guys willing to "get their hands dirty" working on ANYTHING much less "building" and "tuning" aftermarket/modified/fabricated "race engines" and "race cars" for the "write the check" crowd so generally across the board, "labor rates" and "revenues" across the board would increase, the hours spent working on "projects" for "posers" would decrease, the real "car guys" needing/wanting/willing to pay for "good work" would be able to get ,more their stuff in and out more quickly and the "mechanics" wouldn't need every last dime from every last customer just to make it "worth" turning wrenches at all and would have some "disposable income" and "spare time" to put into "educating" the "posers" in person.

DEEREMEYER1 Dude. Much respect for your obvious knowledge, but have your blood pressure checked, or lay off the Meth. I understood probably 75-80% of the terminology, and theory of what your referring to, but the incessant rambling with no punctuation is maddening.
You are, however, completely correct in your assessment of most men in this generation, not knowing a piston return spring, from 26% methanol blinker fluid. It's really sad, because when you consider that the powers that be, are leaning closer and closer to Wi-Fi enabled, Google piloted, govt run vehicles, not knowing how to change a set of plugs, adjust fuel ratios, or check resistance of a spark plug wire, we're ALL screwed. Good points, great knowledge, and amazing passion for all things internally combusted, my hats off to you.

When this much goes into building your engine does the price really matter? This is REAL quality work that you don't see anymore
