      pannic11 1200 crank HP from a 260ci LS? No, it isn’t, IMHO. At all. It’s a 1000 rwhp turbo combo. I build 284ci Ford street engines that destroy this all of the time. I’m more impressed with the craftsmanship of his billet intake manifolds than anything, I’ve never seen a Nelson engine that impressed me on power output.

    Reminds me of when i was a kid in the 70's. My dad had a friend that ran NHRA prostock and my dad helped him out from time to time. Back then, there were not a lot of go-fast catelog parts. You had to make everything. My dad and he were aircraftmachinists. As i recall, they ran a 327 small block stroked way down...i have no idea - 260 or 270 something ci. Concreted heads, o-ringed deck, rocker and crank stud girdles. Dry sump pump. This application was all about high RPM horsepower. Had to run a magneto for the high revs. He ran it through a race prepped powerglide and outback was some outlandishly low geared rear-end. One shift at the 1/8 mile mark and it was RPMs to the 1/4 mile mark. Not sure where the RPMs capped-out at but dad said it was in the high 4 digit numbers. I was a boy then so i don't have real numbers. What i do remember was the freaking huge tunnel ram and header pipes the size of tennis balls. They were moving some serious air. So old school.

    Edit: I'm still convinced the Chev 409 or Z-11 427 with today's ability & technology. That Big block has unknown capabilities of horsepower and RPM's even in the late 60's race teams found out 6,000 RPM

    None of these engines would live without Mike Laws' patented piston oil squirter. Patent is long expired but it was violated into oblivion. jack rousch was particularly fond of stealing patents like it, and selling them to ford. • @thebentley71
    @thebentley71 4 роки тому

    Great build Tom. I like the recessed edge of the top of the cylinder. I was thinking, why not make a raised edge circles on the cylinder heads to fit in each recessed valley. Perhaps make the recessed valleys just a little to small & heat them up, & the raised lip circles to big & freeze them, when installing them. I also think it would be more powerful if you fired two pistons at once, like the front piston on one side & the back piston on the opposite side. I'm sure these billet cranks could handle the force easily. Another idea would be to turn a V8 block into a 4 piston block by making rectangle pistons out of two cylinders, & rectangle valves. The intake valve would be on the top side near the jntake manifold, & the exhaust valve on the bottom. The header could be rectangle shape at the top that turned into 2 inch round tubes. I also believe a flat plane crank is better balanced & produced more power & rpms. I was also wondering if you've ever heard of throttle exhaust. We use it in RC nitro boats & they work really well, perhaps it would work well in fuel injection turbocharged v8 engines. Keep up the good work, your a great engine builder.

    Tom Nelson got your ears on ? I want to see a NRE small block Chevy configuration equiped cam, rods , pistons. crank , bearings etc. etc. set up of NRE choice set up to be compatible for todays modern two four barrel EFI throttle bodies which I just now watched a video from nitrous express express claiming you can program those bolt on EFI four barrel throttle bodies to spray more fuel for DRY NOS ....example of a EFI 4 barrel throttle body system
    www.edelbrock.com/shop/fuel-injection.html
    why you ask ..? these EFI bolt on plug and play self tuning 4 barrel throttle body kits are getting cheaper to buy ..allowing the average street racer to put more bucks into the build quality of the engine internals ...like this boat motor shoehorned in under the hood of a Chevy Chevette ...
    back in the mid 80s on south west archer avenue Chicago there was a speed shop specializing in selling turnkey pro street chevettes with 502 big blocks with a tunnel ram. rising out of the hood two holley dominators and those. huge full coverage vilocity stacks that look like spittoons level with the roof top of the car ..they were tub-bed out with mickey thompson's narrowed rear end so all you saw from the rear was big rubber a Dana 70 pumpkin and more big rubber anda short set of wheelie bars ...
    I believe your little buzz bomb boat motor with dual four EFI + NOS in a chevette could be exciting and get decent gas mileage and extra engine life as we know EFI has never washed out rings or bearings ....BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME ....and if it becomes popular and I think it will you will have the opportunity to build a specialized NRE optimized EFI intake manifold ...tada ..there I just made you another million ...like lee Marvin said to the ladies above the bar in "paint your wagons" " i give you the boy.. give me back the man"

      would not applicable lol... it only makes the power it does due to rpm , which means that small of cubic inch it needs alot of love separation angle because you cannot stuff that much pressure in to a small cylinder at low rpm due to turbo pressure is low at low rpm, now add to that tire rotaional rpm to gear ratio to torque converter multiplication rate.... look at how much it cost just for a true tranny to handle that level of power constantly....
      the oil squirt on piston underside is nothing knew at all... notice he used a thick height piston to absorb the heat generated from compressed pressure of boost,bhe used a big heavy rod because you need more weight to handle the high rpm, it's .5 longer than even the best ls sbc rod and probably 2xs heavier

    • @df5849
      @df5849 4 роки тому

      you would need a very steep rear end gear to keep it in its proper band per the valvtrain event timing, and where the fuk you gonna be hitting 9k rpms in ever shift lol ahahaha...

If you layout big money for engine does make sense. 1200 hp ls twin turbo v8.here in Australia we have 242 ci 4 litre inline six road rego with 1200 plus hp at rear wheel.check out dynamite performance with there destroke 4 litre inline six to a 3.7 litre 2000 hp 10000 revs.you think small block making that power is unreal .
