I inherited a collection of Shiny Brite ornaments and knee hugger elves from both my mom and my mother in law. Christmas is extra special with trees filled with fun and beautiful pieces. The elves always reminds me of a Little Golden Book my Mom read to me called Santa's Toy Shop! ❤

My special thing is a lip balm. It's in a thin rectangle tin. The lid slides off. The reason it's special to me is because it reminds me of when I was in Elementary School and my mom got me and my sister one. ❤ Loved it so much. It really brings alot of nostalgia back.

Show & Tell - how fabulous! I'm a US gal living in UK. I'm an air force brat, so moved around so much, and our household items kept to a minimum. But - the virtual trips through Goodwill often resemble our pantry items - cornflower corningware (it's with me now) and pyrex mixing bowls. I think of home everytime I use! And 2 beautiful Noritake gilt candy dishes from my great grandmother. I love stuff with a story ❤❤❤

one of my first antique finds was a flow blue teacup and saucer, I got it for about 14 dollars, and my aunt who knew more about vintage wares than me at the time told me my good find and it instilled in me a love for thrifting and shopping at antique stores
My best memory is when mom&dad were at the holiday gas station store (wisc.) & I saw a tonka blue jeep&boat-trailer& i wanted insanely a few weeks later mom picked it up after work after she got gas it had gone on sale best gift I remember that was in the early 70's .

Your GW has amazing stuff and for a good price. Here in California the GW is very expensive and all the good stuff, worth money goes on their auction site and not in the store. Im so jealous you find so many good things

The wildflower pattern corning, matches a casserole dish I purchased at a thrift store years back. Actually got 1 pieces with lids but 1 became MIA........The other gets well used. When I bought them I actually had a lady following me around the store for like more than an hour. I finally asked her could I help her, she had the gall to ask me if I was going to buy those, pointing at the corning ware, I said yes if course, it's in my buggy. She said well, I was following you to see if you would put it back. I says nope, it's going home with me mam. She weirded me pur following me around tho😂😂😂.

I love your owl from your grandma(dad). I think the things I have that mean a lot to me are my mom's kitchen utensils. I have a soup strainer she used all the time and she gave me things that meant a lot to her, too.. - kitchen utensils from her grandma. And I have some ivory chopsticks from my grandma when she lived in Japan. ❤ cooking with these antiquities. And I found a soup ladel exactly like the one my mom had for 50 cents at the thrift! May fav of your score are the pyrex bowls. They are my weakness. Anytime I see Pyrex I buy. I inherited my great grandmother's Bavarian China and then found a china cabinet while thrifting for $50 and restored it to display all my treasures. I would love to know where you shop. Goodwill stores in St. Louis do not have the slection of treasures that you are finding at your goodwill. ;)

You found a real variety today- love the Shawnee and the soup tureens! Enjoyed the owl memory 💕. I'll always remember warm summer days playing on monkey bars at my grandma's apartment courtyard in Seattle. Then coming inside and having ice cold grape- always grape- KoolAid poured from her frosty Jeannette Iris Herringbone pitcher. I now have her pitcher, and it's so special to me for all the fun times spent with her.

Was raised in foster care . Saw my 2 sisters during the holidays . One Christmas ny sister got a wood burning kit . I still have the little thing my sister made . I have a heart shaped glass dish from ny other sister . How I still have them is a miracle ❤️🌹❤️

Love you shorts. Mum and I go round like you when I was young. 74 now. Murano coloured blown glass and ceramics, crystal I love why do people discard sure beautiful items that were high end.

@@THRIFT4DECORplus lm from England and think I got my love of murano when I saw the glass blowing on the island of murano in 70s. Ebay I found a tear drop art glass from seventies with incised coloured glass which is very difficult to do and a silver sheen starfish shape bowl. I remember the prices in 70s were beyond my pocket.
I think my favorite was the bud vases. They are very pretty.

I have a set of cast iron pans and baking pans that belonged to my Great- Grandmother then my Grandmother then my Mom and now me. I use them almost daily and am constantly strolling down memory lane…. These are the best memories!

Not glass related but when I was 3 my grandfather worked in Atlanta at a doll factory. For my birthday , he gave me a teddy bear that was as big as me. I am 60 years old and the bear sits in my grandmothers rocker in my home.

I have a handmade Owl similar you the one you have. It was made by an old school friend years ago and he sits on my windowsill, the Owl not my school friend 🤣

I’m getting ready to move into an apartment next week and I have nothing to put in it. Goodwill has all kinds of old nice things I could use. I’ll travel back east to get my household from storage this summer

I grew up in Argentina my mother is very crafty/ artistic, she got lots of As through our schooling (there are 8 of us) she stayed up a lot for lots of “last minute” assignments! I have none to share with you. Wait! I have a sweater she knitted for me during a visit, she knitted it in 2 weeks, it is mohair and I can’t wear it but I will keep it for ever! She now knits for the needy, we have lots of homeless in Buenos Aires, so sad!
I always appreciate people who can knit. I cannot. Lol

About waiting for the dish set to go half price: my philosophy is that you do that _only_ if you absolutely can't afford to buy what you want at the ticketed price. If you are willing to possibly lose what you want for the sake of saving a few dollars, you get a thrill from the bargain, not the item. In other words, you don't want the item enough; leave it for someone else and only buy what you truly love.
Back to my favourite item: the Shawnee teapot.

As a theatre costumer at some point in my life, I did a lot, and I mean a lot, of shopping. So I do understand the distinction between professional shopping and personal shopping. My comment was aimed at the personal shopper.
If an ordinary, non-professional person goes into a thrift store, sees something appealing and decides to wait until it's $3 rather than $6, I have to wonder just how much the shopper wants the item rather than the thrill of getting an extra-special bargain. That is, unless money is so tight that the $3 actually makes a difference (and I have been there too at some time in my life).
What caught my eye were the white buffet plates that had the indentation for the matching cup. Did you happen to see white cups that would have matched?
You have to tell us where you shop. The other tubers do.

My papaw would keep suck candy in a crystal bowl and lid like that ❤ he would said "now I can only give ya one piece cause you could get sick" 😂 then he'd take his spoon out of his coffee and touch our arm or leg with it and burn us and giggle 😳🤣

What Goodwill are you at?!! I'm in Northeast Ohio. Ours are not as nice as yours! I'm originally from Pittsburgh. I think I'm planning are road trip. The "Burgh" has "Red White and Blue " thrift stores that are Veterans connected. As well as Goodwill and Salvation Army.
I'm a sewer. And look for material and large amounts like flannel sheets..Long wool men's over coats. I deconstruct them a make quilts and art work to hang!

Did you ever get a price on that clear swung vase? My brain is in swung mode all the time....although I fear the swung vase craze is starting to calm down. I have about 20...and I think I need to start releasing them to the universe. My favorite item that I have is a cannister set from the 1960s that Mom had. Bright silver lids on dark brown metal containters for flour, sugar, coffee, and tea! Hey, maybe some day you can tell us your first name? I'm Corky (real name is Tim).

I'm just peanut butter and jelly that your Goodwill is not picked over and junky like the ones around here. That being said, the clown stein is the stuff of nightmares.
You asked to share stories about sentiments pieces. My family moved to this country when I was a little kid. Our former country went through wars and revolutions, and my family was not well off, so we didn't have too many family pieces, and what we did have didn't survive the move. I believe the trauma taught me to not put any sentimental value into any physical thing, so while I have stuff I like, I've never allowed myself to get emotionally attached to anything. Stuff breaks, gets lost, gets stolen, gets left behind. Memories and people are real treasures in my life.
