Colin's "you've never been in love" statement is a very sharp statement. And I think the fact that it's hard to really nail down how I feel about it speaks to how well chosen those words were for the sentiment they were trying to express

I think it's a really big perspective difference considering that Colin is meant to be about 23 in the show. Compare to the 28 you guys referenced here: 49:45

1:22:56 although Colin might have needed Benedict's co-signature to use that much money, that's because it was likely in a trust. Penelope has to keep the money she has access to, with no need for co-signatures, underneath her floorboards. Because as a woman, she likely doesn't have the ability to own a bank account on her own (forcing a man's oversight over her funds as well)! Collins money is secure, Penelope's entire wealth could easily vanish in the case of something like a fire. there are pros and cons to needing somebody else when dealing with the sums of money

Problem I had with the letter was that the first one was address to Colin in Paris and Pen wrote about Eloise. Colin was in Paris this past summer when Pen and Eloise were not speaking and Pen did not write to Colin this past summer. It’s a detail but it took me out because it doesn’t flow with what they have said in the show. But they screw with the timeline SO much that the whole thing is unbelievable anyway.
For example Daphne and Simon who become pregnant at the end of the London season of 1813 then we see her give birth and this was probably June or July of 1814. All well and fine. Then we start season 2 to find Eloise is being presented in April of 1814 and Daphne says she left her husband and child at home…..not possible. Then when walking at the market Pen and Eloise are talking and Eloise states that she “thought she would miss Whistldown these last 10 months”……..showing we skipped a whole London season. which actually would have been great and fine but they keep saying Daphne was the diamond last year so that doesn’t track. Plus Colin leaving on his trip to Greece, if he would have had to be gone from October/November till April which it does snow in Greece and he talks about all the plants and things he saw- probably would not happen during the winter. Now just to season 3 when Francesca is being presented in April and Colin shows up that morning but his family keeps saying “how many cities did you visit this summer? Summer hasn’t happened yet. makes the storyline very confusing.
Sorry as you can tell I like to overthink and things need to flow logically. Had they just skipped the 1814 season and had Anthony marry during 1815 everything would track fine
