I can't imagine how anarchic and depraved this must have looked so soon after the Victorians and Edwardians. The 20s really made today possible.
Canuck Patriot you're right in many ways, though right now I see more similarities with the late 20s - early 30s than 60s (financial recession, extremist politics, rising backlash against social "liberal" attitudes, worship of money, fast living)
@@Sawrattan Today's "humans" are not even close to what these people were all about.
True, but it had nothing on the decadence of the Roman Empire. What goes around comes around.
Because of the technology of the time, the cameras had to film at a low frame rate - (15 fps) So in order to play them without a shutter or flicker, they had to be sped up :)
Regardless of how archaic this must seem the fact is Cole Porter's music is timeless. Even today this song can raise eyebrows. Clever, fun, very lively and musical and very suggestive.
PCplays99 It probably would raise eyebrows but not for the reason you're thinking.
Play this at the clubs today, I want to see if the people will still grind to this song.
It's the 20s again, so maybe so
That solves my dilemma about getting old
Depending on the party they'd either try and pull off some 1920s moves or grind even harder
Lyrics
We're all alone,
No chaperon
Can get our number,
The world's in slumber,
Let's misbehave!
There's something wild
About you, child,
That's so contagious,
Let's be outrageous,
Let's misbehave!
When Adam won Eve's hand,
He wouldn't stand
For teasin',
He didn't care about
Those apples out of season!
They say the Spring
Means just one thing
To little lovebirds;
We're not above birds,
Let's misbehave!
[Instrumental]
Let's misbehave!
[Instrumental]
Let's misbehave!
If you'd be just so sweet
And only meet
Your fate, dear,
'Twould be the great
Event of nineteen twenty-eight,
Dear!
[Instrumental]
Let's misbehave!
[Instrumental]
Let's misbehave!
I remember when the Great Gatsby came out, I was expecting they would include this song , then i heard it in the movie x) was so happy
which scene?
SaminSays the one when nick goes with tom to the gas station to meet myrtle
Now THIS is a party I want to go to
We're all alone, no chaperone can get our number... the world's in slumber... let's misbehave
Never get tired of hearing this wonderful recording.
i'm obsessed with the 20's!
Oh, to be young and surrounded by art deco opulence, extravagance, wealth, and experiencing a new modern type of fun. During those times when sleazy swing music, a convergence of exotic cultures and music was exploding in the underground must have been one hell of a time to be alive in.... then the 30's came : (
If I had the choice to live in any other era, it would be the 1920s. It had to be the most marvelous time ever.
Awesome editing on this film! The song you chose matches this perfectly!
SUPER.....Thanks for this delightful share, lovely sound....!!!!
Metropolis !!! I love that movie !!
I love their dancing. Side to Side all shoulders and head.
Except for that one dame with the gams who drank too much Giggle water..
Back in my day, We used to jump up and down getting closer and closer then stop.
The Beat would drop and then we do it again. But.. this is cool.
some of this footage is from the movie FritzLangFilmMetropolis
yes, good eye!
You are correct! !!
I still can’t understand how this generation could have ever thought Elvis was vulgar and obscene. Do people really forget that easily
A superb blu-ray edition of Metropolis is out, including recently discovered lost footage. This movie is a masterpiece depicting the primitiveness of wild capitalism.
Fun fact. This song was written by the famously amazing composer Cole Porter who you younger kids would know as "the guy who sings in the Fallout 4 sound track." One of witch is the song "Anything Goes".
Thank you, God, for creating men and women - greatest invention of all times. Imagine there were only one kind of human being. How little fun we would have.
Indeed. More genders = more fun, which is why we shouldn't restrict ourselves to only two!
There is no God are you schizophrenic?
Oh, we'd still have found a way to have this much fun.
MrJimmienoone minus the women
I just wish for eternal love
Adoro essa música. Bela filmagem. Os anos 1920 são muito charmosos.
Only one thing for sure, when it comes to bawdiness, we didn't invent it. I'll bet they had things that made Victoria's Secret look like a kiddie toystore.
The first half is from "So This Is Paris" (1926) by Ernst Lubitsch - must have been quite a party :)
This makes me think of The Great Gatsby
We're all alone, no chaperone

Let's misbehave
Heard this song on the show Z the beginning of everything
Live it up while you can. 1929 is looming..

Wonderful !!
Thank you for sharing and thanks to sssnazx for sending.
Very cool.Thanks for posting.
I hate how they all grew old and died since. I am forty, and what the heck am I going to do after 40 or so?
GREAT
I was born a half century too late...
1970s?
yes
TheIrishrogue68 Aaah.
Watch Midnight in Paris
TheIrishrogue68 SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE
WTF ! Eyes Wide Shut version 1.0 :)
Memories.......One more Time
They really need real music with a real band in the clubs now - everything is programmed and auto-tuned for too long now-pathetic. This song is silly but it’s real musicians genuinely playing their hearts out.
Love it! ;)
In the original stage production, this is sung by a young woman to a young man.
Some clips from Metropolis in there-I guess Fritz Lang was making a comment about the society he was living in-Berlin was the Wicked City back then.
Can you imagine the extras in the movies received a couple of dollars a day.
scenes from early sci fi "Metropolis" the dancing robot
2020s let’s social distance 😂
why are silent movies fast forwarded... i mean the editing of the videos are like fast forwarded :)
Super Stuff
EMGColonel Thank you very much!
I enjoyed your video!

We LOVE IT DARLINGS
i saw women's feet pillars on 0:18 at the ballroom. What's the name of the club and where does that located?
Just like the great gatsby!!
Thanks, Woody Allen
well damn
What genre is this?
Its a form of jazz thats all i know
Swing?
Check out Stelar Parov for incredible more contempary stuff.
It reminds me Bioshock :)
🥰
ooh.... thanks :)
Metropolis :)
What is the scene from 1:52 from???!!!!
Rob21ization "Metropolis" 1927
HOLARC - In silent movies usually people appears foolish and silly. With exceptions like Maria Falconetti in " THE PASSION of JOAN of ARC " and Chaplin.
You should watch more silent movies and you wouldn't think so.
🤔🧐
This video goes well with "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody" by Fergie from the Great Gatsby soundtrack
how about when Christopher Walken did his strip tease to this song (Al Bowlly version) in Pennies From Heaven??
I just checked IMDb--in the 1981 Movie "Pennies from Heaven", the version of "Let's Misbehave" is by Irving Aaronson which is what this UA-cam video is a recording of. This is NOT Al Bowlly,
That was so cool - the man has no fear!
I recall people were baffled by the movie (happy music, grim story) - maybe it would be better received now.
Oh God :)still so catchy! I'm totally gonna grind to this on cam
The reason why I liked the music of the past, is that they really showed their use of instruments and it all sounded beautiful together.
Am I the only person here from history class? Lol. I didn't know you could teach a song like this in school. 😐😐😂
Omg I came here too 😂😂
We had music appreciation so that was the start of my love.
I'm here because I'm interested in the 1920s and 1930s. Screw humanity today.
The end of the war, the up rising of women in the 1920's is why i believe I'm so captivated by it. The dancing, the 19th amendment woman having the right to vote, the fashion, dancing, how everybody gained a free spirit no matter how brief due the crash of the stock market leading to the great depression. So much history, to go back in time for just a week to see all that in real life. All them flappers/vamps considered not lady like, if they saw us now in 2015!! Lol
omg your comment is soo dated :(
Great grandma knew how to have a good time!

Let's misbehave🎷🎷🎷🎶🎶🎶love this
Many of the scenes in this montage are taken from Fritz Lang's film Metropolis (with surprisingly good quality, Sir Riehl). That was a 1927 German sci-fi film about the future. It's funny about popular entertainment and it's portrayal of social movements. The Jazz Age (flappers), Beatniks, Hippies. The pop entertainment industry has always sought to package and sell them.

The video was taken from Fritz Lang silent movie. -METRÓPOLIS
+bennygoodman1000 yes, but here its played at the wrong speed. too fast of course, making the movement and people appear foolish and silly.
To not mislead people, only certain segments, and not the majority of them.
It appears to be from "The Complete Metropolis" (Kino - 2010) with the restored footage found in Argentina in 2008.
Boy, talk about the Roaring '20s!
definitive version of this fun Porter tune and perfect vintage footage. thank you for a wonderful experience.
Tf you mean it came in 1920!? It came in 1928! Ou wait it came in the "1920s" whoops sorry!😎
Only in overseas films one could see the full partying of the Roaring 20's.
Bridgette Helm in Metropolis. The full dance is on UA-cam somewhere, just look up 'Maria dance Metropolis' or something like that.
fun to think that this was basically the "punk" music of the 20s :D
I just love the least little Let's Misbehave
@MPL029
Bridgette Helm, Gustav Frohlich, and Erwin Biswanger. Most of the rest of them were extras.
Swing Republic brought me here
@MPL029
Oh, and Margret Lanner is the lady putting on lipstick in the car
Les morceaux de films que l'on voit dans la vidéo sont des extraits de Metropolis, un film de 1927 et qui correspond encore avec notre société actuelle, je vous le recommande.
@FarnhazenBrep
Yes, you're quite correct. I love that movie!
Ah, the 20s
A Non-English film wins the Oscars, a movement starts against the murder of Black people,A child is named after a Pentagon password, songs have been centered explicitly after vaginas producing an excess of cervical fluid, and a worldwide pandemic
And that's just the first year
To be honest this is better than any modern music and I'm just a kid I'm not an old person
First heard this song in the movie johny dangerously. Thought they were saying misty hayes. Love the song.
@greengringo2003 I am not a leftist. I am just opposing any kind of totalitarianism, either communist or capitalist. After your comment I checked what political view Lang wanted to show on imdb. You are right. I admit that I misinterpreted the movie's original intent, shouldn't have posted here without checking. But it's strange that if you don't read about it's historical background (like me), you can easily view it as a criticism of exploitation of the lower class in today's terms also.
My mum lived in this era.
Do you see what I see at 54?
Oh it is Metropolis.
Looks Metropolisy
So this is what grandma means when she says, " In my hey day we used to ___________!" *fill in blank*
I'm here in 2021🙂
Art Deco?
One nifty keen humdinger! Check out the swell gams on these hip-to-the-jive blottoed dolls zozzled on bootleg and hop. It's the bees knees, ...and how! :]
