Madness is really two bands. Their young period, and their post 1994 period. Their post music is so amazing on its own, but because their youth period has such classic pop tunes, this music is not as appreaciated. This is a great song.
I grew up with The Nutty Boys. Right next door to me in Camden, whilst I was in Islington (Suggs, remember that Irish pub on the corner of Liverpool Road & Theberton Street, when you were having a go at being Management? Good Times ...) The maturity & development in this, did not come from out of nowhere. Vis a vis: Michael Caine. It just so happened that their audience back then, was not ready for it. So, being the Masters that they are, Madness rounded off the edges & Voila: Acceptable Pop & onto the back burner for another decade (or two). I would sincerely like to thank all the genuine people, who are involved in the sweet but sometimes torturous distillation process of Madness. I raise my glass to all of ye. Just this morning, after awakening to running the flag up the pole* then, rising with smoothly relieved smiles on our faces, I whispered into the ear of my Dearly Beloved of thirty years: "You are my Everything." It was exactly what I felt. Hours later, as I am always late for the party 🙄 I "discovered" (meaning - new to me) this Madness golden nugget. Thank You All. Thank You to The Love of My Life, with whom I have been so blessed to faithfully spend the last thirty years with. Honestly, I do not have words adequate to the task of describing how much you mean to me. In the beginning, I never wanted to need you because I was afraid of that but, you are my oxygen. I would not hesitate to put my life on the line, for you & as you know, our song, the one that explains just how we feel about each other is ... "It Must be Love"
all i can really say is... WOW! its as if that was written about me cuz i said nearly that to my other half! and it still applies! its an excellent song, i was really shocked it was madness! different feel but still very much the original band!
