Looks great. And thanks for the warning. I just recently purchased a hill 4x4 here in the Philippines. Ill be very careful about what wheel I put on it in the future
Congrats man, I bought Hilux in Feb 23, and I upgraded tyres, bfg 265 65 r 18 on stock alloy, thats the max one could go on stock alloy. Any thing other than than one needs chopping n lifting everything.
Thanks for sharing. I am thinking to upgrade to 265 65 R18 AT on my stock alloy 2022 Hilux. Can you please confirm if there is any rubbing on the mud or body guard when turnning max on the front wheels?
@@dino8ieltsi have 265-65-18 on stock as well and in 4wd and some slow speeds mud guards little touching, i can feel it, but after a while when tires get thinner after use it passed. But as friend say that’s the max tire size without any problems. If you have mud guard problem as like me, you heat and flattening with hammer.
BF Goodrich AT are great offroad, OK on dry road, and terrible on wet road. Since trucks are driven in RWD while on the road, it is very easy to lose control on wet road with BFG AT (the rear end "dances" like crazy when turning). Unless you will be using this truck solely for offroad, I would recommend installing a less extreme AT tires that have better compromise of on-road and offroad performances, something like Falken Wildpeak AT, General Grabber AT, Toyo Open Country AT or Pirelli Scorpion AT.
Very helpful video. 👌 I want to know exactly about the alloy paint, should it be painted in a specific way with a specific paint type? Where did you get yours painted? Please suggest something.
Please an urgent question: Can I fit 16” inch alloy wheels from a 2023 Toyota Tacoma (7” width and 30mm offset) on a 2024 Hilux double cabin narrow body that has 17” steel wheels (6.5” width and 50mm offset). I’m wondering if the new 16” ones will clear the caliper. Thanks!
You went from a 7.5 inch rim on +30 offset to a 9 inch rim -15 offset. Rim increased by 37mm while offset moved 45mm. Should have used rims with -5 or zero offset to keep geometry the same and avoid cutting. There should still be some clearance with the upper control arm. You could fit up to a 1 inch larger tires if you use a 8.5 inch rim on a positive offset.
@@bigwheelsmotoring3642 Yeah am aware . Have used them on my earlier car for 80k kms. Just wanted to know if the wheels foul with stock alloys. Got the answer . Thanks :)
They are pretty fine. Not much of road noise…even the ride quality is fine…you can always play with the tyre pressure if you find the ride quality hard…these tyres are preferred because of the stronger side wall…I think on a pick-up truck one should always have tyres with stronger side walls because you will use it at times with heavy cargo for eg. ferrying motorcycles, overlanding setups etc.
Another important point people generally tend to ignore is CB dimensions. Variations in Center Bore between stock and aftermarket wheels can cause some safety issues.
From where you got the wheels painted in Pune? I am not a big fan of changing wheels, so really liked your insight. Waiting for delivery of my truck, hope to hear from the dealer soon since it is a long wait. I have opted for a manual one. 🙂
Lift Kits do not give any extra clearance for tires. They will still rub. Lift kits allow for larger tire sizes where you will still run into the issue of rubbing. Putting on bigger tires and lift kits you will have no choice to body cut and modify.
Your biggest friend would be lifting the car (minimises the cuts you spoke about) On any pickup you will NEED a lift kit before any wheel/tyre upgrade is fitted

I have a 2022 Hilux Invincible X. Suspension differs but geometry should be roughly the same. Currently running 285/60/18. Slight rubbing on the front left fender only when reversing and at full lock. It just touches the front of the guard slightly. Enough to make a noise but not enough to damage.

Toyota is slacking in R&D in major ways at times 🙄 The most glaring example is not lengthening the rear axle of the new 70 series fleet. Not modifying the cab and wheel arches for the Hilux for years has not responded to the consumer's preferences.
Toyota hilux is a pretty much utilitarian service man vehicle here in UAE. It is used by painters, carpenters to construction company for their staff. It is not anything remotely luxurious. Why it is such a luxury in India.
One man’s scrap is other man’s treasure…thats how the world is! The Hilux might be the utilitarian poor man’s workhorse in some countries…but that does not steal the fact that its a robust legendary pick-up truck with strong Toyota engineering and performance. In India the taxation is very high and differs from state to state…which makes some cars expensive.

Lambos, Ferraries Porsches you can rent in 1500 AEDs for one hour .In USA and other Europe pickups are the best sellers as private vehicles… bro dont compare UAE with other world.
Would a 2” suspension lift kit help to avoid touching of tyres to wheel well with a negative offset rim set?
Suspension lift on IFS does not give you any extra tyre clearance, because the wheel moves through the same space as the suspension compresses.
Thx so much cos i was thinking negative offset in my hilux, and this problem was confusing my mind

I'll wait for a year before changing them. The original tires are good. Let them worn out rather stored them.
that’s exactly what I am doing, stock tires wear out pretty fast 30,000km that is 1.5 years wait for me upgrading. Zero offset is the ideal offset.

The BFG’s are a tough / hard rubber compound…so the drive quality is hard.

Put a lift kit and then try again 😂
Lift doesn't give tyre clearance on IFS, if you have a 2" lift, and you hit a bump that pushes the tyre up 2" then it will hit in the same places.
