Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another QUEEN reaction with "Thank God It's Christmas." A song created in 1984 but released in '85, with lead singer Freddie Mercury belting out emotional but almost soothing vocals. This is a beautiful healing type of song, see what I have to say now!

Freddie is the rare singer whose voice touches the soul.
There will never be another Freddie...what a legend. I have been a fan of Queen since they began, and yes, I'm revealing my age, lol!
Freddie loved Christmas, he loved giving gifts, he always had a gathering making sure those who were alone got invited. Freddie also every year would provide Christmas dinners at hospital wards for AIDS/HIV patients, many of these people were abandoned by their families, because of their sexual orientation, Freddie wanted them to know someone cared.
Anything Freddie sings is sung with pure emotion. Then the intensity of his vocals makes it perfection.
This song’s lyrics are so spot on for what’s happened to the world this year. The song is decades old but you would have thought it was written for the world we live in today. So current. Miss you so much Freddie 😥😥😥

My mom was really big Queen fan, in every Christmas, when she cooked and decorated apartment, this song has always been played many times. This song is one of the strongest Christmas memories from my childhood and later years of my life. Unfortunately, my mom died in May, this Christmas was very weird for me...
This is one of them Christmas songs that is a classic up there with all the Christmas classics. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without it.
I simply love a man, who is not afraid to show emotions, when hearing music. That’s what music can and almost always happy or teary. Hair can stand on your arms and head. Happy new year Dereck.. I salute you from Denmark.

Great reaction! Freddie had aChristmas party every year at his home. When he sent invitations he sent all the guests names so folks could by gifts for them. He said he didn't want to be the only one opening gifts.

My absolute favorite Christmas song. Nobody could sing like Queen. They were always ahead of their time. Freddie loved Christmas. He sent presents to his friends to get in1991 a month after his death. Freddie sent Elton John a painting from his favorite artist. Elton said when he got it he opened it and just wept.

I was lucky enough to see Queen at one of their standout concerts, at Knebworth, Hertfordshire, England, in August 1986. Freddie Mercury was a genius when it came to working a crowd, no question about it. This song was written at a time that was difficult for a lot of people in other ways - it's the nature of life in a developed economy, I feel, and comes in cycles, whether economically, demographically, epidemiologically, or whatever. I've unfortunately lost friends to this virus and its awful effects this year, and my father-in-law passed away on 22 December, partly due to Covid-19, in Belfast, Northern Ireland - and we have urgently flown or travelled from London to take a ferry from Stranraer in Scotland, or Birkenhead near Liverpool, several times during lockdown and other travel restrictions, expecting the worst. This month, we spent several days watching him disappear. But life goes on, and the nature of life is that it doesn't stop for Christmas...next year will bring opportunities, and happier times. We just have to be alive to them, and take them when they present themselves - Happy New Year, everyone xx

It was released originally the same year (early 80's) as Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas" which ruled the charts. So this is a re-release with a new video and it's LOVELY.

I`m shocked, that cultic songs like this aren`t known in your generation. The 80s were a great time musically. Hopefully it gets more audience because of your reaction. In Germany this song is played on radio nearly every hour to this time of the year. Everybody knows it... ;) It`s still great.
Well, on the other hand not so surprised that it's not so known in the States. Queen was never as known over there as in Europe, Asia and South America. There are more "hidden gems" we Europeans consider classics, which are unknown in the States.

Freddie’s voice is so impressive in this song.
Love this. Freddie's voice is unbeatable! Queen is awesome. Try some more queen. The most hopeful of songs for the new year is The Miracle, official video. If you want to see his stage presence, try Dragon Attack live at Milton Keynes and to see his connection to the audience react to Love of my life at Wembley when the audience sings most of the song and Freddie conducts.

The way Freddie sings this reminds me of One Year of Love from the Highlander soundtrack. On that one also, it isn't just the words he is singing, his emotion and inflection take a wonderful song to another level.

got the uk single when it came out back in 1984. it was never issued as a 45 in america. this christmas i completely forgot about this song but seriously the lyrics mean just as much or even more 35 years later. a christmas song for the ages

I first heard this song the first year of COVID. and. also burst into tears - I also couldn't believe how much it felt like it could've been written for that year. It felt like a hug from Freddie after the year we had had. I think the most unfair part of this song, aside from how overlooked it's been over the years, is that it never got a music video to promote it back in the day - the animated video we're all familiar with now (and is the basis for this reaction) was only put together about 4 years ago at the time of writing this comment. Every year it hits me right in the feels, alongside "A Winter's Tale" (also by Queen), which could be considered a companion piece.

Brian and Roger wrote a beautiful song but Brian said in an interview that Queen were too busy to do a video. I don't believe it was ever released in North America, only in Europe and the UK. Obviously it was completely overshadowed by Do They Know It's Christmas? 1984 was a difficult year around the world. Recession made it difficult for anyone to keep or get a job and the miners were on strike in Britain and there was the famine in Ethiopia and the AIDS virus had just started to take its first victims. We have different problems in 2020 but the lyric resonates exactly as it did in 1984. Probably even more so. I love how Brian has put a fox in the video. He has an animal sanctuary called Save Me and does a lot for animal welfare. Love your reaction. Happy 2021!

I hope you would like to react to a new song, written by Angelina Jordan at 14, at the time her grandfather died. Angelina's stated purpose is to share Love with everyone in the world. Her vocal mastery will sit next to Freddie's one day. This song, Million Miles, is dedicated to everyone who has lost a loved one, and is a balm to our hearts. We really do benefit by crying during our grieving processes, but at the same time the lyrics are courageous!
