I’m turning 65 next month, and 43 years ago, when I ran the concert program at the University of Florida, I booked this concert! I’m so proud and happy to see that it has made its way to UA-cam! RIP Joe Lambusta, who in my opinion was one of the greatest concert promoters of all time, especially in Florida, and who was primarily responsible for bringing the Dead to UF.
Thank you for booking that event...and it was a true UF cultural event. I was 20 and remember it well, attending with a half-dozen buddies. Whereas some concert excursions have designated drivers, I served as my group's designated reality resident.
This is my birthday show. 11/29/80. My dad took me to my first show 5 months later at the Berkeley Theater. Then again at the Greek several months later. I couldn't believe my dad took an infant to shows by himself until I started taking my infant son to see Dead and Company. Hell of a way to grow up. I'm thankful every day.
This was my second show....I had know idea how much of a treat to see the boys in a small college gymnasium at the time. The bleachers were extended and I was very close to Bobby and Jerry. Honestly at the time, I brought a camera in without flash. I swear Bobby and Jerry looked right me like WTF? :)
I was there, did most of that amazing tour. Just an extremely strong show during a very strong period generally for the Band. Sound in the basketball court wasn't great, but this tape is fine! Thanks, Okie!
Actually, 'Ship Of Fools' lyrics originally referred to Nixon and his cabinet, or those who conspired in the Watergate affair. So, no, this didn't refer to Biden voters anymore than 'Loser' referred to Trump voters. Not meant to be critical toward any side, just an opposing observation from afar. But really it was just an excuse to work a couple of song titles into a sentence
You're welcome kitten77. I'm here for the music anyway, and to escape all the political b.s. we are assaulted with constantly. Switching topics now, How about that transition out of Shakedown into Franklin's. Absolutley seamless

I'm absolutely 100% definitely kidding I'm just trying to be funny and at the same time possibly spread some consciousness! Make sure it's organic and grow it yourself! You can grow everything yourself, so grow everything yourself..... everything yourself.... it's worth it!!!

Hey Bro ✌️
Thanks Mr. Okie
Always loved this show. Had a copy of this for almost 40 years now. Sounds like the same audience as mine. Was hoping this would show up today
Curious about your post on 11/25: Does that make all of us who voted for the "Lost Sailor" his "Ship of Fools"?

definitely wasn't expecting shakedown to morph into franklin's without a break.... it wasn't exactly seamless LOL but quite ballsy and fun.

My four month old daughter won't settle down. It's coffee time. Who wants a cup?
@Paul Leavell
How do you like it?
Coffee and an early 80's Dead show...Fine way to wake up. One day the little kiddo will feel the same way, don't worry. The music never stops...
