      Its way off from being perfect , thats for sure. I've selected subjects, then the inverse to change the background and after a new background generates, I can clearly see the edges , ears etc have been pulled into the background, now wearing spock ears etc and other weird phenomonen, so the select subject doesn't properly work, so that needs to be fixed.

    Flashback to a wedding in 2021 when I had to remove the two videographers from in between the B&G in most of the ceremony photos because they would not move…. This tool could’ve saved me HOURS!!!

    I have been using it to repair old ripped photos. I took a photo that I had tried to fix last year and spent four hours on reconstructing part of a face. The generative ai did it with one pass. I just used the lasso tool and selected the ripped area and done. I simple couldn't believe it.

    I first dove into photography back in 1974 when I was 12 years old. My first camera was my father's Agfa rangefinder camera. I then graduated big-time when my father graciously bought me a brand new Nikon F2A in 1978. Everything about those film cameras was manual, including the exposure and the focus. I considered myself a "photographer" or "picture taker" back then. I then got into doing b/w darkroom work, which made me question whether I was still a "picture taker" or a "picture maker". But...Ansel Adams' photos incorporated a lot of darkroom work, so I didn't feel so bad when I thought that way. I then went digital and started using Photoshop in the '90s. Today, I'm doing even more amazing things with Photoshop and have considered myself a "picture maker" since I became fairly good at using Photoshop. But this Generative Fill just takes photography to a level beyond our wildest imaginations, as you so rightly pointed-out. And you're also right by saying we can never trust another picture we see from this point forward! I shudder to think about photos that will start cropping-up in the already heated political arena! Thanks for creating this video. It was quite eye-opening to say the least!

    It could affect people in commercial photography, but it will never replace the real photography, for example; wedding shoots, pet photography or anything of that nature. The reason being is because the biggest part of photography people are forgetting is to do with painting the character by capturing actual real moments. Sure, you could tell this technology to take the dog and give it this specific characteristic, but it's still fake. A real photograph is capturing something genuine, an actual moment that people can look back on and that cannot be replicated by A.I.

    • @mpetrie
      @mpetrie Рік тому +1

      I would certainly use this to make adjustments to "problem areas" in a photo that I want to fix. How is that any different than us going in with our clone stamp tools, healing brushes, etc? I would never use it to completely artificially make an image or have the faked item be used as the centerpiece of the image. I also would never use it for putting people in areas where they really weren't. For example, I wouldn't take a photo of someone near a waterfall and then use it to create a completely faked environment to make the image bigger. It's something I would merely use as a "touch up" tool on my photos.

    • @scottcjmckelviephotography
      @scottcjmckelviephotography Рік тому +1

      @@mpetrie, yes, as someone who is a pet photographer, to me this is ideal for certain things like removing objects, it's more powerful.
      I think problem areas like you've mentioned would be interesting to see the results of for what it will achieve.
      I tested it yesterday, it seems it is still a bit buggy where you can see the seems from where it's added on, but it's early days and given the fact it's able to generate results like that is crazy.
      Yeah, I agree with you, it isn't, it's something that will speed up your workflow. I do think, however, when people make it out like it'll replace the photographer, that just isn't going to happen. I mean, take a wedding photographer as a prime example, they're out there capturing moments as they happen, and it's really those 'moments' people look back on and feel fond of, whereas, A.I. isn't about generating memories, it simply cannot achieve that.
      I'll tell you what would be good if they adapted it, if you were creating your own surreal photograph and shot all of your own material to put that together where it would be able to assist you putting it together, but at the current time I don't think it enables you to do so, instead, it merely generates things for you.
      For someone doing still life, if they forget to clear up some clutter, it can be useful for removing certain things like that. It's like you stated though, problem areas.
      Oh and as for the fake environment, correct, people who have visited the location many times would see it's fake for that reason. So it wouldn't work out in landscape in the same manner, plus it just doesn't feel right.

    Embrace the technology. Overall I think this is awesome for creatives in general. However, for things like competitions we may need different classes and rules. Truly amazing, I just added some wild horses in a scene for added background fill. Loved it crazy good.

    For a mixed media project I made a series of images using my photography in AI model's Outpainting. Each image took me 3 days to create, with little sleep. It was a lot of fun, but still epic amounts of work. Not as much as making all the assets of images to create a composite, but still. To get the image to A3 I had to make it in selections and piece it together in PS.
    I have been waiting to complete my degree to play with that art style again. I'm delighted that Adobe have added this feature. It looks vastly more easier than the way I had to create my mixed media project.
    Plus love LOVE that they work with layers. To fix those faces is easy too, just delete that section of the AI generated layer to see the original image. It doesn't bother me that there are some glitches because overall workflow is now vastly faster.

    You kept saying “unbelievable” and “amazing”. Perhaps you should use ChatGpt to write a better script for you. Or, even to use AI to make this video entirely. Just a thought. 😂. Thank you for sharing.

    Hey yeah it will change everything, we will now have more bad photoshop pics than ever. Photography hasn't changed a bit, you're using photography from Adobe stock library. It pulls in images that don't match your image resolution, color depth, or grading. All this is doing is changing how you look for stock pics, do it yourself or let adobe guess for you.

      For me, the biggest breakthrough isn't the ability to add in new objects etc, it is the ability to clone out items which would have been almost impossible in the past, and the ability to stretch out images to new dimensions. It's incredible. I agree however that typing in something like "add a lion" isn't there yet. But it will be - scary

      @davidlovephotog2 Рік тому

      @@NeilRedfern I don't see how their stock library can compete with the other AI sites flat out stealing from the entire web for material, artist styles, etc. But anything away from the subject works good. Selection tool auto has always been bad with no improvement. Adobe is just chasing trends as usual without perfection what they are already renting out.

    Another nail on the coffin of photography. I can't believe how can a pro be excited with this knowing that anyone is now a photographer and the unemployment line will be huge. This means the end of professional photography and photography in general. Nothing is believable from now on

    I am on a mission to help have the average person know this is all hype on so many UA-cam channels. Adobe is desperately marketing a product (firefly) that is not ready and certainly not pro enough. The new replace tool is really pretty lame no matter how many youtube videos say it will change things forever....I realize these channels are getting paid to hype but, please, regular working digital artists put your hype filters on.....Firefly is about 18 months away from being a legit product.

      Are you saying I am getting paid by Adobe? I wish! Haha, I am a full time wedding photographer and this is going to change the industry. Generative Fill's ability to create new content, allowing you to stretch images to any dimensions is already changing the game. Just to be clear I pay for Creative Cloud, I haven't been paid a penny for this video and have no communication with Adobe whatsoever. This is going to change the industry and I felt it right to inform my subscribers

    It has nothing to do with photography, literally. The only thing this will change is more repetitive, randomly generated shit around.
