- We weren't planning on getting a house cow for a long time on the new off grid homestead. And yet here we are, building a cow milking shed. I have decided to attempt to do more vlogging style videos because life is pretty busy with a new baby, but I am missing my UA-cam community!

Hi i am a 62 year old widow from a small town called Wagener South Carolina in United States I am not sure I found your channel but I am glad I did I am looking forward to following your journey and watching your family grow y grand children are all 18 and over so I love watching children grow and learning new things
I'm so glad you found us! Welcome
So glad your back! Congrats on the cow, what a blessing.
Take your time, enjoy that new baby... we will all still be here whenever you do find the time to put out a new video 😊
God bless you, your family and your homestead.
A house cow is a wonderful thing to add to your homestead with all those healthy children!!!!
You are a true wonder woman!! God Bless🙏🏻
Congratulations on your new wee addition. So excited for you to get willow, its on my list to get hopefully one day soon. So glad to see you back.
Thank you so much!
Yay I am so happy to see you back. Congratulations on your new wee man❤ and the house cow how exciting 😊
There is a manual pumping machine for milking the cow. you need to use one hand to keep the vacuum and the milk can be collected easily in the container.
House cow is a new term on me 😂. You have a lot going on and wish you the best. I’m looking forward to seeing more and wish you all a blessed rest of the week/
Luckily they don't have to live IN our house!
So exciting! We just got 4 beef cows. I cant imagine the work that goes into a milk cow!
beef will be next I suspect, we need a wee friend for Mrs WIllow
Hello! Lovely to see you again! And lovely to meet baby No. 5! And congrats on the house cow. She will be a useful addition to the family. I don't eat dairy but today I bought a tray of eggs and a jar of tahini and it was nearly $40!!! The struggle is real!!!
Food prices are out of control, even my kids will say "in my day I remember when *insert food item * was only *insert price from 2-3 years ago* " haha
@@FantailValleyHomestead That's equal parts cute and alarming! 🤣💚
I like the way you talk ❤
Welcome back!!!!
thank you x
When we had our milk cow AI'ed, we had a schedule of hormone shots to give ... to bring her in heat on the date the vet chose.
I had to build a chute to hold her for the procedure . It all worked properly
I miss having cows, but the work load is too much for me now.
We are hoping to avoid that by getting her a paddock friend so we can tell when she's in standing heat cos last time I priced it up a full hormone AI cycle was hundreds of dollars!
Congratulations on baby 5 and getting a house cow. Looking forward to your upcoming vlogs. Food is so expensive☹we dug up two rows of potatoes which came to 10kgs😊the last bag of 10kg pototoes I bought cost $29.I remember when they were $10bag.
Good effort on the spuds!!
Good effort on the spuds!
Not crazy at all!
I just heard you say she gives 12-15 litres per day!!?? Wow!! That's a lot more than i expected those udders to hold! Is that roughly normal for a cow? 🐄 🙏🥛
It is considered low! I was on a mentorship call today and the lady running it said her cow does 10 gallons a day (twice a day milking) which is nearly 40 liters a day!!
Hah- are you crazy? Yes, but all my favourite people are.
Haha mine are too!
How are the land rates in south Island ?
Council rates in rural clutha are much much less than rural Dunedin so I assume they are cheaper than many places further north?
