Gyro is not even a traditionnal greek food. It s persian. It came to greece last century with greeks coming from turkey during the population exchange. Traditionnal greek food is pies: milkpie, sweetpumkinpie, cheesepie, spinachpie etc
I did Samaria Gorge when I was 15 and I LOVED it! 15 years later I still remember a lot. It was sooooo beautiful and amazing. We also got up early, around 4.30am, but it was SO worth it. If you visit Crete you need to do this but don´t forget to bring real hiking shoes!

It should be a challenging shock for you Mediterranean's heat after Canada. I think it is your biggest difficulty to deal with hot weather of Greece Alina.....
So nice. It reminds me of Italy and some hiking in islands such as Corsica. The landscape looks really similars. What I love in Greece is that there is 16000 km of sea shore if you count all the islands.

She started embedding these about a month back - very wise idea for copyright strike reasons. BTW, I think it would be great, as you mentioned in another comment (yes, I read them sometimes) for her to do some vlogs in the NW USA - would be closer to her Mom’s location in Saskatchewan. Meet-up with Steves would be a great idea, and so affirming for her. Also, didn’t know you were a body builder - I have a female cousin who competes nationally and came in very high in deadlift - first name “Lindsey”, maybe you know her? Sorry to hear about the hives and heatstroke. I've never knew that hives can be induced by strenuous physical exercise. Learn something new every day. As for the video, awesome as always. Excellent scenery - you must have been awed with those two mountains on either side of you. Glad to see you made it through to the end, it looked extremely difficult. BTW: Watched the Happy Hour video as well. Very cool. You asked whether I'd want you to do more live streams... Definitely! Hopefully I can make it to some of them :-) Keep enjoying!

I don't think any vlogger can beat you, I mean for that they'll have to walk the extra mile of being over-adventurous cos no matter how well-maintained one is, one can never beat or even compete with your God-gifted beauty and innocence!

I did the hike in August time sever years ago. (Mistake, too hot) I wore trainers which were a tiny bit too small and bruised my toes. One month later my big toe nails came off. My fingers also swelled up with the heat. Recommend hiking boots. Thanks for the memory and well done for completing it.
this takes me back did this in oct 2003 from rethymon it was amazing hike but the next day could hardly walk met a couple of 77 year olds h&w well soon they hit the bottom whoosh they were gone very fit people wonderful day

А по красоте - на Мальорке, в горной цепи Тримунтана,2-й по длине с выходом к морю. Там горная дорога, реверсивная, но с остановками на обзорных площадках. Советую побывать. С уважением

I remember doing this on my holiday in Crete. One of the guys that planned the trip miscalculated what time the ferry was leaving at the port, so we had to rush the entire Gorge as to not miss our ride home. Ended up with severe heat exhaustion and passed out when I got to the beach, only to discover that we actually had 4 hours to spare. I'd do it all again though, the views were beautiful.
Yeah this was quite a trip :) did it 10 yrs ago , but on the plus side the pure mountain water around resting areas is the best , people were taping water into their bottles all the time :) making it event more exhausting due to additional weight of these bottles :D .

I have walked this gorge 4 times and everytime it's an amazing experience. I've also taken a ridiculous number of pictures in this gorge. :-) I didn't have the filming technology with me back then. Now I have, but I am unfortunately not able to walk this gorge anymore due to an injury.
Good hike. Please come to CA on an "inch hike". They last up to 26 mi at 100 degrees, and cover about 6000' elevation gain. Unfortunately I have never been to Greece or Crete.
@@AlinaMcleod After checking out a few more videos, I would I would say the hike takes 3h walking time, and nothing needed to take other than credit card to get back.
I did this walk with my wife about 4 years ago. The following day was the worst....lactic acid in the legs. A lot of downhill that we were unused to. But spare a thought for the guides. Our Austrian guide walks this route almost every day in the tourist season. It's nice to see it again from the comfort of home.....
I'm going to Crete with a friend for a week on July 29th. I was considering doing this hike, but didn't really take the heat into consideration. Might have to reconsider hahah I'm glad I found your video, if not I might've not thought about that.

I walked the Samaria Gorge in 1971, and saw about ten people all day. We'd all arrived on the same bus. I went back some years later and was told that 2k people per day are walking the Gorge. Best not to go back to places, maybe.

When I was a kid, it was hidden from me that the path from our village to the railway station, with descents and ascents, took about 4.5 kilometers. Despite the spectacular landscape, I felt then that it was something bordering on sadomasochism 😅 But I'm laughing now & remembering it with warmth and gratitude for that time. I think in your case it`s also a great workout before visiting the Caucasus. I don’t know how effective it is, but it might also be worth recommending a kind of bicycle helmet with open ears in places with avalanches. And, of course, big stock of caution. Stay safe with the feeling that You are alive! This gorgeous episode is very much alive & I thank You ❤️
My feet was aching so many days after this trip. I can still feel how awful was to get down stairs all over Chania... But, it is definetily worth it. This place is awesome and the most beautiful and epic place where I have ever been in my life yet. I will walk this gorge again some day, that is a promise. Maybe with kids, i doubt they can take it though... ;)
Fact: Greece have 2 Gorges, one is in Crete where you are ,and one in mainland.Samaria Gorge is the longest in Europe and the ather one Vikos Gorge is the deepest in Europe and second in the world after grand canyon.

My favorite book is about hiking New Hampshire, Vermont trails. Some of the trails had waterfall as a reward.....for soaking our feet of course.

Greece has many gorges because the landscape is very mountainous. The two you mentioned just happens to be the most famous.
Vikos national park is probably the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

I was just wondering... aren't you gonna visit Knossos the bronze Age archaeological site on Crete, close to Heraclion,Europe's oldest city?
I was planning to and then ended up feeling really ill on the only day I had left to go. Will have to go back sometime!
