Thank you SO much Paul. I have only had my guitar for 6 weeks & never imagined that I would be playing something that resembled Wonderful Land in such a short time. A very easy tutorial to follow & you speak so clearly! Thank you again & my best wishes
Excellent job on teaching this iconic Shadows tune. This is my first E.guitar song and thanks to you I have nearly all of the moves down in one morning. Now I need to spend a couple of weeks getting it up to speed! Many thanks!
Excellent job.wonderful land is a great shadows tune,I remember the tune coming out when I was a kid.The Shadows were my idol this was way before the Beatles and all the British Invasion groups
This is absolutely mint. Learning this on an acoustic and due to the way it has been taught have got it down pretty good after a few hours. Ordered an electric on the strength of this lesson! Thanks for the effort you have put in
If anybody is a bit confused when you get to the Palm muted part of the song he doesn’t do 9 7 10 all on the d string he does 9 7 on the g string and 10 on the d
Amazing video, as they all are. You are by far up there with the top guitar tutors. Being a novice player and a big shadows fan you are a God send! Is there any chance, should you get the time, do a vid showing how to play 'Crocketts Theme' from 80's Miami Vice? It's a an awesome track. Thank you one again for all your hard work and sharing. 👍🏻🎸
I like tabs but I have no problem paying for them to us much like you would with sheet music. I use your teaching and the tabs for reference, both your teaching and the tabs are for me excellent. Thank You for showing me how to play a great Shadows song, I have several albums by them.
Dear Paul Great started learning this one again after forgetting most of it thank you perfect. Have you ever done The Frightened City, If you have I would be so gratefull Regards Paul.
Very good lesson, thanks for sharing. Naming the sections makes it easier to follow. The number of sections might make this one of the more complex instrumentals from the Shadows? It is a really nice piece, no wonder it was in the charts for so long, probably liked by both kids and parents when released.
Great instruction video. Thank you so much. Could you possibly share with us how you achieve the echo/delay sound? That seems to be a trade secret, but you have mastered it quite well. Thanks
+James Duggan I used a Boss DM-2 in standard mode with the repeat at about 40%, the echo about 30% and the intensity about 60%. Check out this video I found with Hank discussing delay. ua-cam.com/video/0kaVxgey9w4/v-deo.html
Dear Paul Just picked up my guitar again after sometime can I ask do you do a tutorial on Atlantis as this is one I always get so far on then get stuck, cheers Paul
This is a very helpful lesson. Slow and easy to follow! Thanks very much. Can I ask if you are using a delay pedal and if so which one? Many Thanks. Nic.
Thank you for this great tuition, its helped me a lot. Please can you let us know what echo unit you use to get the shadows sound, and how to set it up. Also what amp do you use please.
Thanks Michael. I used a Boss DM-2 in standard mode with the repeat at about 40%, the echo about 30% and the intensity about 60%. It's not going to be exactly right but It gives a passable Shadows sound. I think for this song I used a Vox AC30 amp.
This is Single Melodic line music, with a lot of guitar echo. Do you not have a full fingerstyle arrangement: Melody; Harmony and Accompaniment - all on one guitar? If so, please teach it.
This instrumental has a great melody, but it also becomes magical with the correct echo repeats. The echo used here is way too simple - if you are going to attempt this melody - get it right! Hey ho.
Disagree. It's simple so us non-guitar maestro's can follow along with our cheap and cheerful guitars and amps, and not worry about the techie stuff.Great video, and one of the few Ive managed to actually stick with until I can actually play it!
Finally, a teacher without like to talk, but demonstrate. Good job and thanks.

Thank's Bruce, glad you enjoyed it. The Thumbs up thing is me fishing for likes on the video.
Very easy explanation on the playing of this song. It is good if you can also find the tabs on it with with this video on you tube.
Thanks for the comment Garry. I'm avoiding doing tabs; it's something of a grey area where copywrite's concerned.

+Paul Coyne Thanks Paul, I've never play the frightened city but I might get around to learning it at some point.

So helpful for me ( I am a somewhat mature beginner )

Excellent tutorials
Do you do the frightened city by the shadows including the chords for the rhythm guitar
+Paul Morgan Thanks Paul. That's not one I'm familiar with but I might be able to have a look at it.
A great lesson, thank you for sharing this, your guitar looks lovely., could you tell us what gauge strings you are using ?
When I recorded this I probably had Rotosound R9 stings.
Many thanks
is there an effect that will give that chunky sound without having to mute the strings. I am just killing the notes dead when I try

Hi paul can you tell me what echo pedal you using for shadows songs as I need to buy a good echo pedal
hi any chance you can do a tutorial vid for lady in red by the shadows
Hi Dean. I will be doing more Shadows videos soon. Hadn't thought about that one but I might get round to it at some point.
Did you know many years ago when I learned this song in England they taught me. to play it in Ty-Pha rythem
+Philip Simpson Don't think I've ever heard of Ty-Pha rhythm. What is that?
Can you play bad boy by the shadows?
Great lesson. Anyone else.. is his G string sharp or is mine flat?! ahaha
pl add a digital tab on to the screen
That very first bit, Why do you play there when you can play easier on 1st + 2nd strings ???...same notes and pitch ..
This instrumental has a great melody, but it also becomes magical with the correct echo repeats. The echo used here is way too simple - if you are going to attempt this melody - get it right! Hey ho.
