When it comes to reselling, you need to make sure that your items are as clean as possible. Same thing goes for shoes, if you’re selling a dirty pair, that will make a huge difference on what you will be able to make on that pair. In this video I’m going to show you how I clean the shoes that I resell after trying many different methods.

A lot Of Work For Cleaning I Use Water Dish Soap And Shout 3-5 Sprays Depending Amount Of Water And That’s It Crispy Clean And If I have Stubborn Spots I Hit It With Shout And Let It Sit For 15-25 mins Quick Clean Super Clean I Use It On Jordan’s High End And Low End Kicks This Method Was Way Too Much
I clean vans shoes all the time with Dawn soap and water and a good brush for the sides I'd say it's thr most efficient way to clean as long as you give it a strong scrub
Great video just use Formula 409 Cleaner for the white works great with scrub daddy
I clean mine the same way, but I use Dawn and a little water. It soaps up nice like that fancy stuff. I also use this automotive solvent to remove marker and any residue. Nice job on your shoes! The white came out so bright.
Hey Jon Great Video. I have a Buddy of mine who sells only sneakers (no shoes sandles boots or flip plos etc..) and he has a really slick system he use to clean plus cut time on cleaning as well. What he did was he bought the motorized boot shoe and or sneaker polisher (2 of them with 2 rotating bursh or pads on each unit) and he bought replacement pads or brushes with different stiffness and run the sneakers on them. I was looking at his process and it does very quick work on cleaning the sneaker's soles and mid soles and for the delicate parts, the top, he has a softer pad or brush to condition it. It take about 2 mins to run the whole sneaker through that process and then he toss them into a rinse tub and let then air dry. That guy can clean about 25 to 35 pairs in an hour crazy fast and they come out surprisingly clean. He took this idea watching me use a polish/buffing machine I was using to polish a strip of stainless steel molding. Goes to show what people can come up with in a given situation. Hope this help Seeya in the next Live!
I've been hoping you'd do this!! 😁
Best thing I've found for cleaning midsoles is a magic eraser or sponge... Incredible results but I only use them on more expensive trainers because they break up quite easily. But I use them for so many things, marks off toys etc etc. Every reseller needs magic sponges in their lives 🤣👍
can you skip the cleaner and go right to the goof off? it seemed to really work.
The cleaner gets a good amount of the grime off first.
I put my own shoes through the washing machine once in a while, but then I am not selling them. I never put them in the dryer.
Thank you! Getting ready to list a bunch of my aunt's shoes and needed some pointers!
I just cleaned 10 pairs of shoes. I put them in the washer and hoped for a miracle. So far only one pair came loose. A pair Brooks
You killed Brookes!
@@luker.6799 I got lazy and didn't feel like washing them by hand. I heard someone in the comments say they put their shoes in the washer on gentle and they come out fine. I knew better but just got lazy. Lucky only one pair is bad
@Susan Miller thanks
Food for thought: Not good for washers to have sneakers in them. And it's not good for sneakers to be in a washing machine if you're reselling. If their yours to keep no big deal. If to sell your asking for problems down the road. I wouldn't say I loathe to clean shoes. But I have about 30 pairs I need to before I list. It always pays more money too. I even try to use rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover with Qtips to get off marker prices on bottom of shoes. Sometimes, it comes off sometimes it dont Platos Closet is bad about that. Don't go there too much anymore unless a banger discount. Scrub on!
Personally if I had that many shoes, I would fill a large large bin with hot water and detergent mix and just throw all the shoes in there for a bit and let them dry in bulk. Once they are dry, I can clean the small details as I list them.
Maybe try the dry erase marker trick on the 12 Jon
Will do
cool tutorial, great information, nice work, it's a lotta work for the pile.
Great information Jon. Thanks for sharing :)
What if you filled a shallow bin with some sort of cleaning solution, just enough to come up to the top of the midsole, and let a batch of shoes soak in the this solution for a time. Maybe it would take less elbow grease after a nice long soak. It looks like cleaning is the bottle neck of the shoe game.
I tried that and it doesn’t really make much of a difference.
Seems like used shoes in below average condition is not worth the time or energy. How much time do you think you have spent in sorting, cleaning, and listing? Or better yet how does that break down per shoe? For everyday average shoes that sell for less than $40, it doesn't seem like a good use of your time. Seems like it is taking too much valuable listing time away from products that would need less attention.
It’s been more of a learning experience to be honest. It’s taking us less longer to clean these shoes than before as we are figuring out what works and what doesn’t. It’s something that i will have to evaluate in a month however it’s getting better.
Great vid Jon!
fui... thats disgusting. wasting your life on cleaning dirty cheap items to sell them with higher price. I do understand when car reseller do that.. but shoes??
lol ok. That could be said about hundreds of professions. I enjoy what I do.
