Well as everyone says, size doesn't matter...but in the world of opal it really does, his is definitely way over 10 feet tall! I have a picture somewhere on a post card he gave me@@PulitzerOpal
Love the character introduction (of the final stones), the cats, the jokes, the editing, the knowlegde and beautiful visuals of the opal stones. Thank you for making these videos.
Anne Chen … will you marry me? That was a very nice comment! You are too kind. I just try to be myself, and if I am successful, the videos will usually be pretty good. I’m working on one for release next Wednesday. Best wishes … dp
Dear Mr. Pulitzer, Thank you so much for your videos. I love opals so I've seen every video of you and Justin (blackopaldirect) and others. About a year ago I realized why not try cutting opal myself, so I bought my first pack of Australian opals and tried cutting with just a whetstone and sandpaper. Since then I have bought a lot of small stones, some of them were quite nice and I even sold one a few months ago. It's a nice hobby for me. Thanks and keep posting good educational videos :)
Sookie still bossing your pride I see. She sure is pretty. And feisty. Angel is one beatiful stone. I don't think I've seen matrix as lovely as that before. Sending you best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧
Thank you for the well wishes from the UK! Sookie definitely has a strong personality, but she adds some fun to the pride. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing Angel and the matrix opal. If you ever have any questions or want to share more about your opal interests, feel free to reach out!
@PulitzerOpal I've loved opal for many years. I do own a small piece of iron stone with trace opal in it that I bought from ebay along with a triplet cabochon. but anything bigger is well out of my price range. I do some silversmithing, but im not an expert. I'd be terrified of breaking and the opals I have if I tried to set them. Absolutely love your channel, Sheila makes me laugh, as of course, does your pride of cats. I'm always impressed with your polishing and the arrowheads you make so deftly always turn out as lovely pieces, even if heads do fall off 😉
Always great to see the ginger army playing in the background. I sadly lost my Ginger ninja a few weeks ago so it's nice, and sad, at the same time. That matrix cabochon turned out beautifully. Thank you for the video and I hope you and family are well. 💜
Sorry to hear about your loss, Lisa. The ginger army marches on, reminding us of those we hold dear. Sending you and your family warm thoughts during this time. 💜
Hiya Big D, awesome video. I WANT TOO ENTER THE GIVE AWAY. Well, the Crawfish went back into his hole, winter isn't over yet. I hope you have a awesome blessed day. Cya! 😺🐟 out!
Your my hero. I now consider myself an opal genius thanks to you and your sarcastic teaching method. Unfortunately I will never be a cat farmer of your caliber. The little badgered hate me.
These are all so beautiful. I can't honestly decide which type of opal I like the most, and I swear that I learn something new about opal every time I watch one of your videos. Thank you for that.
I have a new video that will definitely teach you something, Sarah. I planned for it to be out today ((Wednesday), but 2 weeks is not long enough between videos. (I can’t consistently do even every 3 weeks!). I will release it next Wednesday. I have never “stored” a completed video before.
You don't know how much I enjoy a video equally showing opals and cats! Someday when I grow up I'm going to be a crazy cat lady, wearing a big a$$ opal ring and I will change my name to Shelia!
Something you don't know... Okay, my favourite must be coober pedy opals, so nice and stabile and so many patterns, not to mention all the insanly nice fossils 🤩
I love the lion's roar intro, lol. Did you know that back in the day people used calomel (mercury chloride) as a laxative. They took kilos of it with them on the Lewis and Clark Expedition and we can still track their journey by the high levels of mercury they left behind.
That's quite an interesting historical tidbit! Yes, calomel was indeed used as a laxative in the past, although its use has been largely discontinued due to its toxicity. The fact that traces of mercury left behind by the Lewis and Clark Expedition can still be detected today is a testament to the lasting impact of historical events on the environment. Thank you for sharing this fascinating piece of trivia!
I love your Arrowheads!!! They bring three of my early loves together into something fantastic! I want to thank you for that. Also that rough opal is stunning! Something you don't know?!!! I have trouble believing I know something about rocks, gems, minerals, that you don't! Which leaves me with something personal, which seems lame. LOL. How about.... I am a redhead? Ah well congratulations to whoever gets lucky enough to win one of those beautiful items! I would treasure any of them, as I am sure the winners will! 🥰🥰
The videos are never too long. Only through Roy and That Opal Guy, ( Hi Don Quarnstrom), I wouldn't have been introduced to so many people. That were so helpful, encouraging me to keep working on it. 10 months since broke my wrist. All of you have encouraged me to keep trying. My physiotherapy lady is delighted now. Not there just yet, but got 40 percent movement back now. I had nearly given up. It's the opal people that have done it. I thank you all. Greetings from Dimboola, in Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺 😊.

Your perseverance and determination to keep trying despite challenges are truly inspiring. Wishing you continued progress and success on your journey to recovery. Greetings from across the globe!
@@PulitzerOpal Roy kick started me. I made a comment. He was the little kid next door that my brat terrorised. More than that, but he replied. I was dumbfounded. He is the nicest young man that anyone could ever meet. He was when he was little. Now a beautiful young man. I have been so blessed that he found me. My estimation of him then was correct. Thank you again. Big hugs for the felines. Mine just arrived for his meal. Demanding it now!!!! I must bow to the boss and feed him.

I am *so happy* to have found your videos. I just acquired 10 raw fire opals in rhyolite and had no clue where to begin. Thanks so much for the info and cat clips :)
I just started watching your vids, and have recently subscribed. What you don’t know is that opal is my birthstone, and in all of my 66 years, I have never owned one. I would LOVE to own an opal ring and show it off to everyone. I think they are the most beautiful gem in the world. Also, parts of Michigan, including Detroit, are north of parts of Canada with Canada directly south of them.
Opal's your birthstone? Well, ain't that a gem of a coincidence! Hope you get that dream ring someday, Susan. And as for Michigan and Canada, who knew geography could be so quirky? Cheers for sharing!
Did you know that I love you videos and opal is my fiancée favorite favorite favorite stone and she has collected all kinds of rocks since she was a kid. ❤ beautiful stuff!! When that arrow head broke I jumped lol
Personally, I like watching you doodle on the opals because we get to see how and why you're cutting and polishing where you are. Once again the video was enlightening and funny. I would bet your wife has an opal collection to rival any royal family's.
Always appreciate the videos, you may not know the impact they have on people. I myself have bought attachments for my angle grinder and started working on other types of rock (mostly fossilized corral from here in Alaska) in anticipation of buying a small parcel of rough opal to work on as a hobby. It is very intriguing to watch the beauty come out of the stones.
I bet you didnt know that i am new to buying opal and i would be as grateful for a giveaway; as i am grateful for this free knowledge-met-with dry humor; videos, thank you kindly!
Hello again my friend. Love watching your vids. Well, here's something you didn't know. After watching yours, Justin's and few other people's vids for years... I finally did it. I have bought most of my equipment to start cutting/carving opal myself. I have spent a hefty amount on about 10 parcels, just waiting on some polishing equipment to arrive and I'm off. Thankyou for all the advice over the years. Really really really appreciate it.
That's fantastic news, mate! Congratulations on taking the plunge into opal cutting. Wishing you all the best with your new venture, and remember, if you ever need advice along the way, I'm here to help. Happy cutting!
@@PulitzerOpal Thank you and thank you very much for the offer. I may just take you up on it in the near future. You made a joke about cutting out all your opal scribbling and explaining, because no one wants to watch it. During that part I literally said out allowed, "I would watch it!" Quite happily, I might add. Appreciate your vids, always informative and entertaining and I look forward to more.
I've just discovered your channel & find the process of bringing out the colors in opals fascinating! Can't wait to play catch up & watch all your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge .
Entertaining and educational as always Colonel. I have to live vicariously through these videos after hand surgery - but I will be back :) I found a vile of my Gpa’s opal from the 60’s. Mineral oil will evaporate and turn black after 40 years if sitting in a metal file cabinet. Some dawn dish soap and a few good soaks , seems to be back to full color.
I'm glad you find the videos entertaining and educational! It's fascinating to hear about your experience with your grandfather's opal and how you were able to restore its color. Thanks for sharing!
A thing you don’t know: Nathan Walker is from Australia, just like opal. In 2018 he became the first Australian born hockey player to win the Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals. Also, my cats Cheeto, Otto, and Brando all say hi! Great video!
That's an interesting fact about Nathan Walker! It's always cool to learn about athletes from different parts of the world making waves in their respective sports. Give Cheeto, Otto, and Brando some pets for me! If you have any more fun facts or anything else you'd like to share, feel free to let me know!
Beautiful opals as always. I really enjoy watching the cutting and shaping, and guessing what the final piece will look like. Hopefully one day one of these might come my way.
I just discovered you and I am so enjoying your channel. You're adding to a renewed obsession with dem rocks, especially opal! Something new to know: tuxedo cats' black and white patterns are deposited randomly as they develop. Also, in Japan, ginger cats are called "tea tigers" because the words for "brown" and "tea" in Japanese are similar.🐈
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and the opals featured in it. If you have any questions or if there's anything else you'd like to see in future videos, feel free to let me know!
It's always a good day when I get a notification from you, Mr P! My Andamooka matrix opal is nothing compared to what you have shown here, these are stunning 😍
My October born friend had told me for decades that being born in any other month and wearing opal will bring you a lifetime of bad luck. Sort of like taking lava from Hawaii. I don’t care, I LOVE opal!
Something you didn't know (maybe): Australian dragonflies are recorded to be the fastest of all dragonflies in the world, 57kmph (36mph). Love your videos mate. 👍
Thank you, @Kellishark! Your support is greatly appreciated. I'll do my best to keep the content coming. If there's anything specific you'd like to see in future videos, feel free to let me know!
I love seeing your opal arrowheads. I’m friends with a world class knapper who’s teaching me how to Knapp. I’m on the hunt for a crystal opal that I’m going to commission him to make and then donate it to him since he doesn’t have one in his collection. Looking forward to seeing more of your arrowheads in the future. :)
It's fantastic to hear from a fellow opal enthusiast with such a long history in the hobby! Natural opals indeed hold a special allure with their unique beauty and history. Your dedication to the purity of natural opals is admirable. Keep enjoying the mesmerizing world of opals!
I guess since I know little to nothing about opal, telling you something you didn't know would be impossible.. Love your videos thank you for taking your time to try and teach peoples like me.
Thanks for the tip of on Rileys im gonna have to look him up and wow Shelia keeps lookin younger everytime i see her it must be the exposure to opals. Love the videos keep em comin✌️

Those opal arrow heads are cool! I got ripped off in Coober Pedy buying opal that turned out to be Matrix lol, the bloke gave me a small opal for free witch was worth more than the rest of the pack😂😂 live and learn!. Keep the videos coming mate, they are informative and fun...especially Shelia.

You do beautiful work, love watching your videos. And I bet you didn't know I have twin grandchildren. Plus I keep all my opal for all four of my grandchildren
Paco is so patient!! Sookie looks like they just like to start things with the others. :D I love how your videos always inpsire me and make me laugh! You show when things go wrong and it helps me when my own projects fail too. I also love seeing your kitties because who doesn't love both shiny and fluffy things? My favorite fun fact is that opal comes in all the right colors and patterns to make opal bacon and eggs. My small goal in beginning lapidary was to take yellow opal, white opal, and candy opal to make a breakfast pendant or earrings. I'm watching for just the right piece of yellow opal to complete my "collection".
Yellow opal Hmmm. Thanks for the nice note, ms chat. Sookie is a troublemaker - completely unabashed and if things aren’t going her way, she attacks. Paco is the king cat and he just shrugs it off. The 4 of them are unlike any group that we’ve ever had. They do everything together. It’s like a “herd of cats!” I have never seen anything like it before. dp
Amazing video! Here's an opal superstition you might not be aware of:
In 1829 Sir Walter Scott published a book called "Anne of Geierstein". In the book, Anne wears a talismanic opal that brings tragedy and upheaval wherever it goes. In fact, at one point the opal cracked and shortly afterwards, a character died. This portrayal, along with opal's natural tendency to "craze" in reality, made the public steer away from opal's for a few decades out of superstitious fear! It was only later when Queen Victoria's love for opals sparked a trend among the Victorian elite, leading to increased demand for opal jewelry and subsequently revitalizing the opal industry.
Amazing how people fall for misinformation so easily?
Wow. As insane as this story is, if ever there was a mystical stone - it has to be opal!
“There is in them a softer fire than the ruby, there is the brilliant purple of the amethyst, and the sea green of the emerald - all shining together in incredible union. Some by their splendor rival the colors of the painters, others the flame of burning sulphur or of fire quickened by oil.” -Pliny

Love your channel. Matrix opal is beautiful.
Glad you're enjoying the content, mate! Matrix opal sure is a sight to behold!
I've just discovered your channel & find the process of bringing out the colors in opals fascinating! Can't wait to play catch up & watch all your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge .
Break a leg, Kelli … oh, I mean have fun!
Entertaining and educational as always Colonel. I have to live vicariously through these videos after hand surgery - but I will be back :)
I found a vile of my Gpa’s opal from the 60’s.
Beautiful stones yet again. Miguel is a beautiful specimen. My dog will be 17 years old in July! Have a great week.
Ah, aging like fine wine, just like those opals! Give your loyal companion a scratch behind the ears for me. Cheers to many more years together!
Great video as always! Love the stones.
Glad you enjoyed the video, mate! Opals always steal the show, don't they? 😄
Wow I love your arrow heads absolutely stunning
I just discovered you and I am so enjoying your channel. You're adding to a renewed obsession with dem rocks, especially opal! Something new to know: tuxedo cats' black and white patterns are deposited randomly as they develop. Also, in Japan, ginger cats are called "tea tigers" because the words for "brown" and "tea" in Japanese are similar.🐈
As usual, beautiful opal and entertaining video! Thx for all the work you put in for us to enjoy!
Glad to brighten your day, Trish! 😊 Opals never cease to amaze! 💖 Keep shining bright! ✨😍
Very beautiful stones!
I'm inspired now to try some matrix opal. It looks lovely! Great video!
Go for it! Matrix opal's a whole new world of color. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Nice to see you again great job 👍
My October born friend had told me for decades that being born in any other month and wearing opal will bring you a lifetime of bad luck. Sort of like taking lava from Hawaii. I don’t care, I LOVE opal!
Great educational videos as always. Thanks for sharing ❤
Something you didn't know (maybe): Australian dragonflies are recorded to be the fastest of all dragonflies in the world, 57kmph (36mph). Love your videos mate. 👍
I've missed seeing your videos. It seems to be less often than it used to be. Glad you're back!
Thank you, @Kellishark! Your support is greatly appreciated. I'll do my best to keep the content coming. If there's anything specific you'd like to see in future videos, feel free to let me know!
Beautiful ,love the commentary
thanks for your videos and for your great sense of humor! sending greetings from the heart of Europe from the Czech Republic
Opal arrowheads and knapping adventures-sounds like a solid plan! Keep on crafting those beauties! 🔨🌟
LOL 3 am central. Now we have 2 things in common. Love of Opal and insomnia.
Opals and late nights, a perfect match! 😂 Keep shining bright! 🌟💤
Awesome stones all around once again as always ol chap.
Thanks, fella (If I were Australian, I’d say “mate,” but we Yanks don’t seem to say it). Hmmm …

Glad you found it helpful, Nicole! Keep watching for more opal wisdom coming your way. 😊
As an opalholic since 1969 I am a purist as well. Only Natural warms my heart. 😮
Hey Lisa, glad you enjoy the videos! No worries about opal knowledge-everyone starts somewhere. Thanks for tuning in!

Ah, fellow opal aficionado! Glad you enjoyed the video, mate! Keep dreaming of that perfect opal, and who knows, maybe one day it'll find its way to you!
Live and learn, mate! 😂 Opal adventures never disappoint! 🎉 Sheila's always stealing the show! 🐱✨
Another great upload. Thank you for sharing!
Cheers, Jason! Appreciate the support, mate!
That is some nice cutting, my friend. That matrix is some stunning stuff!
Glad you liked the cutting! Matrix opal's got that special sparkle that makes it stand out from the crowd.
Love the pixels of matrix, the more pixely the better :-)
All those are completely magical, but I guess you already know that :-)
Pixel-perfect opal love! 🎮💎
Beautiful stones as always!
Thanks a bunch! Opals never fail to dazzle with their natural beauty.
@@PulitzerOpal same with Sheila! 🤣
Great color love the opal and the side entertainment.
Glad you enjoyed the opal hues and the extra entertainment, mate! Opals and antics, a winning combination!
This was a fun video. I bet you didn't know that of the two opal UA-cam channels I follow, you are firmly in my top two favorites.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoy the content. It's an honor to be one of your top two favorite opal UA-cam channels. If there's anything specific you'd like to see or learn more about in future videos, feel free to let me know!
Something you didn't know (A cat has 32 muscles in each ear.) Sheila's ears, not so much. Loved the video as usual. Waiting for the next one.
Ah, the wonders of feline anatomy! Sheila might not have 32 muscles in each ear, but she's got plenty of sass to make up for it. Stay tuned for more opal adventures!
Love your videos, the longer the better, do all the splanin possible! Love it
Thank you so much, @matthewsadigh9004! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoy the longer videos and find the explanations helpful. If you ever have any questions or topics you'd like me to cover in more detail, don't hesitate to reach out. Your support means a lot!
Those were all stunning but Dakota is something else.
Also if you didnt know treated matrix opal tastes like cherry. A delicious treat that you just can't beat
Dakota's a real gem, ain't she? Opals like her make the world a more colorful place.
Great video, there was recently a paper published which explains that the castle rock formation in a Colorado town of the same name has resisted erosion because of opal!
That's fascinating! Opals never cease to amaze with their unique properties. Thanks for sharing that tidbit!
You do beautiful work, love watching your videos. And I bet you didn't know I have twin grandchildren. Plus I keep all my opal for all four of my grandchildren
Fun video, thanks for making it!
Something that might be new: Before toilet paper was invented, Americans used to use corn cobs.
Thanks! 🤣 Ah, the wonders of history! Stay tuned for more opal tales! 📜✨
I don't know if you know this or not but Riley is the man when it comes to buying opal almost all of the opal i own came from him
Riley's got the opal game on lock, mate! Quality stuff, no doubt. 🐸
lovely video as always, loved how you explained how to spot matrix opal
Thank you, Jade! I'm glad you found the explanation helpful. If you have any more questions about opals or anything else, feel free to ask!
Keep’em coming Pulitzer, I love this stuff. Bet you didn’t know that.
I didn’t!
You are the one who got me in to fog knapping and matrix opal. Both seem to be a curse
Thank you for another fun, beautiful video! Ketchikan Alaska averages 140 to 160 inches of rainfall per year.
Thanks for the Alaskan weather update, mate! Glad you enjoyed the video-opals and trivia make a great combo, don't they? 🌧️💎
It’s like a “herd of cats!” I have never seen anything like it before. dp
It’s like Christmas when I get the notification that Pulitzer Opal has uploaded a new video, keep them coming please sir!
Glad to hear it feels like Christmas! More opal adventures on the way, stay tuned! 🎄🎥
I miss seeing your videos. Can’t wait to see them welcome back I love the first arrowhead. It reminds me of a guitar pic.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad to hear that you enjoy the videos, and I appreciate your support. Stay tuned for more content!
