Thanks for sharing. I've been a gel pen colorist for a couple of years..off and on. My first Basford book was The Secret Garden...now I have 5 of her books. I've been experimenting with pencils lately thanks to your totally awesome full length tutorials. My husband thinks I'm a little off, sitting, engrossed for 3 hours watching you color..lol. I just purchased Ivy and the Inky Butterfly in hopes of finishing it with extraordinary coloring so I can give it to my 3 year old Granddaughter...she will most likely be 5 by the time I'm finished😂. I was thrilled to see your completed pages in this book. I'm a new subscriber and I'm blown away by your work. You are so inspirational..thank you😊

Love seeing all your work! I enjoy seeing your older work too especially since I'm new to this.
Maybe we could try neon combos on the icecream pallor page.
I have a gold pen that was showing through my pages so I have started putting down a light layer of white pencil before using the darker gel pens and the thicker gold pen.. it's probably not good for my pens but I'd rather not ruin my pages.
Ooh that’s a great idea for the ice cream parlour page! Neons would suit it perfectly and maybe I’ll get addicted again haha 🤍

I'd love to see you do a quick tutorial on the clouds. I gather that a stencil was used, but would be helpful to see how you apply them in the pictures by overlapping them. Also, do you use a fixative on your completed pages?
I have one Sonja. In my beginners playlist there’s a tutorial on distress ink. In that video I explain how I do my clouds 😁
Oh and yep, I use a workable fixative on all my pages. There’s a video on that in the beginners playlist also 🤗
How do you have your pencils arranged? Do you have them arranged in groups of dark medium and highlight tones? If so could you do a stream to share? Your pictures are beautiful ❤
I can definitely do a video on this. I have all my pencils arranged in the same order as my conversion chart. It’s mostly based on my prisma pencil order. I don’t know if there’s any method to my madness there haha they’re in a similar order to how they were in the original 150 box 😁

I LOVE the way you color! I'm also curious - how did you improve your skills to the point where you're at today? Did you watch tutorials or just experiment or what? One more thing - I would watch any tutorial you posted, nothing would be boring. :)
Thank you so much! I think it was a bit of both. A bit of trial and error, searching UA-cam when I was trying to learn how to do certain things as well and then learning how to work with my colouring style.

Oh I love to see these videos too. It’s so much fun looking at the progress and even the memories certain pages evoke. Gosh I used to have the memory of an elephant haha these days it’s more like a sieve. I’m 44 so not far behind you lol 🤗

What markers can be used without bleed through? Or do you prep your pages? I am unable to get vibrant colors with just colored pencils. Have been coloring for about 3 years and am not seeing a whole lot of improvement in my coloring and looking for ways to learn more. Love seeing all of your pages. Johanna is my favorite artist. New to your channel.
Hi lovely, I don’t really use markers other than to add embellishments, unless it’s a .pdf or a single sided book. Watercolour markers can be used for basing under pencils as well as inktense, watercolor paints etc.
Do you use a fixative or sealer so your pages don't bleed or rub off on the opposite page??
I sure do. I use the Micador workable fixative. I have a video on fixatives with other options in my beginners playlist 😁
You say that you can't draw but all the things you added are identical with Johanna's 🥰 really beautiful pages💜

Oh my goodness. Yes it is sacrilege. Just because it’s not a traditional painting it still is a work of art. You can bequeath it to your kids or just keep it for yourself to review on a regular basis for ideas and just to see how you’ve improved. How far you’ve come along. Tsk tsk. Never never through it out lol. You e put it a lot time in on these paintings. They’re a teaching tool for your videos. Like now. Your work is beautiful. Cherish it and DONT THROW IT OUT!!!! Ok I’ll stop lecturing haha. Hugs.
