Really like what you've done to this boat. Any chance of a video of the completed project? And thanks for the painting tips....they helped me complete painting thecabin on MY OA 423 Clssico....turned out great!
I just finished watching all of your videos from first to last over the last few days, I love what you are doing, and must thank you for sharing all of this with us, I have learned a lot. I have to say, when it came to episode 6, of the SJ falling over, I almost couldn't watch it after I read the title, I felt gut wrenched and actually skipped it and watched episode 7 instead, to see how you worked it out first, then went and watched E6 after not feeling so bad, lol. The way you shrugged it off and took it with stride, gave me some perspective and a state of mind I wish to emulate. Kudos John.
I’m looking at a similar Catalina 30 MKIII in Wisconsin on the hard in cold storage and leaking windows let water fill to the top of the bilges. The rest obviously will need a closer look. After watching your posts, I’m worried about the compression post. Any recommendations when negotiating?
Make sure the bathroom door do not rub at the top or bottom. Thats a sign that the post is rotting and the top has moved. Also most water may be coming through the ruder post area. There’s a deck cover over the top of the ruder post behind the wheel. Water will fill that area up because the drain maybe stoped up the overflow thro a hole where the wires come in. If the bathroom door drags you have a large bargain chip. It will take a lot of time to fix. Also be sure a get a moisture meter, if the windows are leaking then the chain plates are probably leaking also. If so you have a very wet deck. It won’t be soft but may still be rotten.
I’m late to the game, but have enjoyed watching the restoration. Appreciate that you show both the good and the bad... and enjoyed the ICW alligators story. 😂 A question going back to the keel mishap... Were you able to confirm plumb verticle? To my eye thru a tablet screen it appears cocked to the side at bottom. No offense, but were you able to confirm measurements from the toe rail, or with a plumb bob with deck sitting level? Just want to be sure she will track straight for you when you get her out on the lake. Regards from the Puget Sound Area; lots of SJ24 fleet racing up here.
if we get a washer, then the bolt/screw should not crack the plexy.it also helps if we manually drive the fasteners (at least for the last few mm). aesthetically isnt as pleasing as your clean result, which is great btw, but personally windows is the kind of thing i really want bolted down heheheh
I guess this is a dead boat channel. It's be over 2 years no an no New videos. So I guess this is good bye. Time to go find a new boat channel. Aloha and Mahalo from the Big Island of Hawaii! R.i.p.

Thank you very much! Very kind words. I’m hoping to put out more videos soon.
I just bought a C&C 27 and will need to change out the fixed Lexan windows so thank you so much.
No problem, its nice not having to screw through the windows.
Those windows look great! I bet it was fun getting that boat in that storage unit!
It was easy when it was on the trailer. It’s was hard getting the trailer out. I’m about to put the trailer back under it.
Great job.... thx
I was wondering about the 3M tape....Is it called Heavey Duty 2 sided tape? Thx Trev
It’s called 3M VHB. You can search it by that.

Neat job! Those windows look good.
Thanks Ray!
how well is that tape gonna hold up once in the water? will it withstand salt water?
Yes, it will not come off. Andy on Boatworks today uses it for windows also.
Hey Dude you doing ok? Did you fix your keel crack after that accident?
Yes, It’s sailing all over the lake. I’ll put up a video soon.
Looks nice. How thick is the plexiglass you used?
Thanks, it’s just shy of 3/8

Yeah there wasn’t any damage to anything structural. It has a bulb on the bottom of the keel that may look cockeyed on video.
@@finditfixitsailit9322 Good news. Look forward to seeing how you finish up the details on the SJ. Windows look great!
no updates? still got it?
I have moved the boat out. I’ll try to get this video up soon. It’s just hard to work full time and put videos out.
Does it normally get cold and snow in Texas? I thought you guys has a warm climate there?
No, it's only cold from January through February. Some years it doesn't get that cold at all.
@@finditfixitsailit9322 You ok? You been gone a long time?
@@RachaelSA yes, sorry it’s just been tough to work a full time job, work on the boats and find the time to edit. But I will put a video out soon.
@@finditfixitsailit9322 Still working that full time job hey? 😂😂
@@RachaelSA Sorry, I need to start uploading more videos.
