When the game turned three to one for the Sabres, I called my girlfriend at home, because I was watching the game in a Leafs bar in Vancouver (because it’s blacked out from regular cable on the West Coast-thanks Rogers and TSN) and I asked her to hang up my vintage wool Leafs jersey, which I usually hang up when I watch the games at home. She laughed and said “Oh my God you’re so superstitious you think it’s gonna affect the game? You and your crazy mojo. I’ll do it, but I think you’re crazy.” She hung it up, and a minute later, the Leafs scored the three goals back to back. THE MOJO IS REAL!

I was wondering why this games LFR was 20 minutes, and then the ending happened, and it was time to cry! Thanks for everything, Steve. As an islanders fan from long island I couldn't see myself getting hooked on these videos, but it's been 2 years of watching these and im about to graduate college so I couldn't be more thankful for these videos and the podcasts.

The Sabres while bad for a historic amount of time are more profitable than they have ever been. If the NHL moves them Bettman must be fired immediately and the team returned to Buffalo. The team doesn't need to be moved. Fire the entire management team and start from scratch.

I remember when the Sabres just got Eichel and the Leafs got Matthews. There were tons of polls on HFB asking who would people pick as the better team in the future. Something like 66% chose the Sabres. Have been laughing my ass off since, and still do whenever i look at the standings.

The Leafs have their shots blocked at the 5th lowest rate (27.17%), they miss their unblocked shots at the 15th lowest rate (32.10%), and overall they are 10th in the league in terms of how many shot attempts (including those that are blocked) actually end up on net, at 49.45%. Either we have to go a bit deeper to figure out if there are certain types of shots they miss more than average, or this is just confirmation bias. All stats are from Natural Stattrick.
fwiw I used numbers from hockey reference and got pretty different results. Although the general story is the same, Leafs are nowhere close to the league leaders in shots blocked or missed. (8th lowest shot block rate @27.47%, 3rd lowest missed shots @8.9%)
