I think a reason that yaoi hands were so prevalent is because a lot of very early BL work was done by amateurs
Heck, a lot of early doujinshi work (wheter yaoi or not) used to have either very very simple proportions or exagerated proportions, especially on things like the hands, feet and head
Before digital drawing became easy, a lot of doujinshi artists probably just referenced/traced hands from magazines without noticing the off proportions during the sketching phase
It was an era for sure lmao!! Now everyone draws such beautiful men and sexy hands! Not complaining!!🤤
