I know these comments are a bit annoying, but I really think the rabbits cages are too small. I know that it's not realistic to give them giant cages, but I think a 2 by 4 cage is more than doable. Also, please consider giving them a slab of wood so they can rest their feet. Also, all the rabbits are beautiful and they are look super healthy!
Sahana K From a breeder' s perspective, yes these ignorant comments are very annoying. I'm saying this as someone's whose rabbits won't use resting pads no matter what I do, some rabbits won't use the resting pads and the wire doesn't hurt them or cause sore hocks if the rabbits are being cared for and checked correctly. I've seen and heard of way more cases of sore hocks on wood than wire or any other surface. As most rabbits ( for example mine) that are in cages that size get playtime outside of the cage, those cages are completly fine. Please do more research before commenting in the future.
LPS Riley thanks but my comment wasn't ignorant and I have done my research. Before you comment, please don't attack the person. You can disagree with what they say or do but online, you really don't know anything about the person Firstly, I never said wire caused sore hocks and really the surface doesn't have anything to do with it. It's about the way the weight it distributed when they jump and about how wood (or wire) doesn't absorb. The reason you have probably heard more sore hocks from wood is rabbits that are in wooden cages are usually larger and have room to hop so have a greater chance of sore hocks. Also, she did say her rabbits get playtime every few days. Also, with large breeders, it's really hard to give rabbits consistent play time. You can't let the males and females interact. You usually can't even let the males interact because a lot of them are so hormonal cuz they can smell the females. The females may do fine together but not all, so you have to give separate playtime to each rabbit which is very difficult. It would be impossible for all the rabbits to get any more than 15 minutes of playtime a week, which is less than sufficient. Also, I didn't demand a really large cage or anything. A 2 by 4 cage is doable! As for the testing pads, yes the rabbits may not use them or prefer them, but they are still great to have as an option. And yes, I do know this is a business and that most of these rabbits don't live here forever and most will be adopted out when they get older, but I wanted to give my perspective. I also did comment on how healthy her rabbits look
All that matters is... Do the rabbits look happy? They look very happy and im sure they dont ,mind the size cages they have now and wire is not an issue with holland lops.
I never thought i would be into rabbits. And I'm doing great! My rabbits always get good placing in show. And I'm just now starting to breed. You have been such a great help with all my questions.thank you!
Just to point it out to the people that are saying that wire floors for rabbits is cruel your wrong. Breeds with thick fluffy feet such as Holland lops, can have wire floor and they can’t feel it. Yes I do agree with giving them something to rest on but some rabbits chew and eat theirs and there is nothing you can really do. I haven’t seen anything about her rabbits having sore hocks and she’s had those cages for years. If your a breeder you can’t have massive pens for each rabbit as that would take up a lot of room and it’s not to ideal. They look very healthy and well looked after.
Don't listen to any of these negative comments. Wire has been proven to be better for rabbits BECAUSE it holds less bacteria, and keeps the rabbit clean. Keeping them on plastic or wood is just asking for diseases and urine/hutch burn. I use wire, sue me. The cages are not too small. Rabbits should not be given super big cages because they will hurt themselves if they get spooked. Most of the people commenting for you to change have not owned show rabbits. I can tell you, you are doing a great job! These people should focus on stopping ACTUAL animal abuse, and not just something they do not agree with. Much bunny love :)
Also if the does and the bucks are able to see each other they will get stressed out and want to breed. (which is a good thing sometimes) But it is not a good thing if it is on a regular basis, especially when the buck sees the kits.
The animal community is literally so judgmental. I really hate it. I think the way you keep your rabbits is fine. These people know nothing about you and just jump on your case. They probably don't even watch your channel, they just saw this one video and are so quick to call you a bad rabbit owner, when they themselves don't use proper grammar or punctuation as they're judging you. That to me is very hypocritical. How can you come on here and judge someone and not even put any periods in your post anywhere??? It's super annoying, and makes me believe that they obviously don't know anything about anything. If you come on here and call someone a bad person, it just makes you look bad. This woman didn't ask for advice, so don't give her any. Her rabbits are healthy and happy. And for god's sake do everyone a favor and read your post before you publish it. It makes you look immature and imbecilic when you spell words wrong and don't use proper grammar or punctuation.
Uhm. Define 'happy'. It has been proven by research that can be checked on every major rescue bun website and organisation in the US, UK Germany and Australia that big enclosures that are at least triple the size of those cages are a basic need of every bunny. I won't even talk about the wired floor. A little hint. If your breeding space looks more like a meat farm somethings wrong.
This is animal cruelty - the cages are way too small and the wired flooring is bad for their feet and uncomfortable. Please put a mat or towel down on their flooring!
Uhm no they are more than way to small. These are living creatures you pervert not your toys they deserve to have a good life. Meaning exploring, having space for basic movement and a group to interact with.
As long as the wire is half inch by half inch to half inch by 1 inch squares it's perfectly safe for the rabbits, if it were any bigger then it would cause problems with the animals feet. But I do think the cages could be a little bigger, the Ideal size would be 36"Wx30"Dx18"H for maximum comfort especially when you have so many in one cage. :)
Wire is fine for rabbits but if you noice they had boxes with hay in them if they need a break from the wire. This rabbis are obviously very friendly and would get lots of ran around time outside the cage. The cages were made for rabbits they are not small

ITs obvious you know very little about raising rabbits. If you know so much go rescue some. These rabbits are im a bright clean airy barn, safe from preditors and in cages probably larger than the FDA requires. You need to take a chill. Wild rabbits have their kits in burrows half this size.
2448redbird you obviously know nothing. Maybe you should talk to a rabbit vet and ask them what they need or even just research it online. Also bunnies only stay in their tiny nests for a very short time. These bunnies are at youngest a few months old. They need more exercise. I just hope she lets them out to run and play.
Hi! I'm in 4-h,and i will be showing a breeding rabbit. The breed I have in mind is my very favorite!,A Holland Lop! I just wanted to say that your channel has really helped me and I have convinced my parents to be able to not sell my rabbit! So now during the summer I can watch your videos to help me even more! Thank you so much for helping me! Love, Your biggest fan!
What size is your shed? And how many holes do you fit in it? I'm looking into a building for my rabbits since we just moved and have to do things a bit differently. Loving your setup!
I have a fuzzy holland lop and a holland lop and I have been giving them rice pops as treat just found out they may not be safe is it OK or do I need to STOP giving them the rice pops
They sold at the pet store i finally got a answer from my vet they are a junk food for rabbits and only to be given as a treat once a week at the most i have my now ,but thank you for getting back to me
These pore bunnies are all crammed together. I am proof that you can have rabbits in at LEAST twice the size of cages that you have, make a living, AND have happy healthy bunnies. Also would you consider giving these bunnies a rug to lay on. The wire mesh will ruin there hocks, break there nails(which causes bleeding), and can cause infection to open wounds on hocks. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!!!! It is SOOOOOOOOOOO sad to see these pore bunnies being treated like this. Bunnies need personal time alone to relive stress and calm down. Also would you give your rabbits more wood toys to chew on. Maybe some salt or mineral blocks to. Just wanted to point out that when a doe is living with her bunnies the doe needs an area to call her own. Whether that's on the top of the nesting box, a second level, or an open grassy area. If the mother is not the tamest or the calmest the doe can take their stress out on the kits. they might bite or hurt their kits. I dont have anything agenst you personally but just want to make sure these things are adressed. I love most of your advice and your bunnies. I just want the best for you and your bunnies. Thanks, Rhema Johnson
Actually with rabbits its far worse for them to hop around and possibly get their feed soaked, and they do pee a lot. Once wet. their feet won't dry out fast enough to keep their skin healthy. So wire is best but they need ceramic tiles or plastic mats made for this. Rabbits are now domesticated and made by man to have more hair than rabbits in the wild have. They need care geared for this, so no wire is not bad for rabbits at all as long as you keep an eye on them.
Hello I was just wondering if my doe is pregnant. I breed her to a 10 month old buck 33 days ago. Should I renewed her she hasn't had any babies and she is really energetic. The doe is a little over a year. Is that too old?

Ok first off, those cages are WAY to small for a rabbit. And second, they can get sick fron staying in tiny places like that. And third, your best bet is to just free roam them in there, or get an x pen and then seperate them however you want. Hopefully you didn't take any affence by this comment. Because if you did, I didn't mean any harm to your feelings.
Poor rabbits 😭 it’s makes me cry looking at the the way she treats them rabbits are supposed to be loved not stuck in a tiny cage with wire bottoms poor little guys I hope she can change.
Wire bottoms only affect rabbits when the wire is too big, 1/2" x 1/2" to 1/2" x 1" Wire seems pretty normal and humane to me. The only issue here is that the cage could be a little bigger, 36"Wx30"Dx18"H is a perfect size cage. She's doing an excellent job the way she takes care of her hollands.
Evelina they have trays underneath all the cages to catch urine and droppings which are emptied every day so that they're not filling up and making her shed smell like pneumonia
It looks like Clementine is producing some awfully long ears, and it seems like that might be a fault to work on with your whole herd (Otis will help a lot though, I love the head on him).
You should not put your rabbits on wire flooring as it can damage them for a short time it is ok but if they are there for a long time it will damage their feet

This will be my first time breeding and I watched your videos on that, but was wondering if you had any tips you hadn't mentions in that video. Also what type of hay do you use??? I've been looking for a different brand as I'm not sure if my rabbit likes the current one I'm using.
Enclosures are small and some of them seen super lonely. I Feel should make them bigger and put them in pairs. And also I see no toys, Apple sticks or Any type of safe wood is good. My rabbit moved Apple sticks and I have a tree right in front of my house
+sharmaine Hill it's a winning. The rabbit has to get first place out of at least 5 rabbits and at least 3 exhibitors in the class. 1st place or a higher placement can get a leg as long as those conditions are met.
I know you hear this a lot but get the rabbits bigger cages I feel so bad because they don't have a lot of room and you have wire bottoms they are pretty though
Please please please give them different flooring because they’re going to get sore hawks and get them a bigger cage. You should not be a rabbit owner/breeder if you do not know how to handle them or care for them properly so please please please take care of them better, please

I'm going to breed him to a couple of my does and hope to get more oranges.
Are u naming your rabbits after walking dead characters
Sometimes I do themed litters ☺️
That's cool
Wire floors are bad why do you have them at least give them carpet or wood for them to rest
Was butterfly one of the first rabbits that you started out with when you started with rabbits as a kid?
No she was born here a few years ago 😊 but from my original lines
I have a holland lop rabbit and she's free roamed.
What dimensions and brand are your cages? I’ve been searching for the right cages forever?
The rabbit cages are rank.
These wire floors really piss me off wouldn't even be heard of in the UK
What do you do with your breeding stock once you have to retire them?
How big are those cages ? Do you guys think lionheads will do good in 2 ft X 2ft cages
4x2 is good. I would only do 2x2 if they are mostly free range.
I was waiting for this video for like forever! Absolutely adore all your rabbits and your work Holly
1 you have way to meany baby bunny’s in one little cage and the cages are to small they have wire bottoms witch will hurt there feet and you have way to meany bunny’s that you have to take care of and they don’t have anything to keep there teeth down so there teeth can become uneven and they will not be able to eat and you would not notice because you have like a million bunny’s and after all of that i’m only 2:18 secs in wow smh
+Alana Williams lol
ITs obvious you know very little about raising rabbits. If you know so much go rescue some. These rabbits are im a bright clean airy barn, safe from preditors and in cages probably larger than the FDA requires. You need to take a chill. Wild rabbits have their kits in burrows half this size.
2448redbird you obviously know nothing. Maybe you should talk to a rabbit vet and ask them what they need or even just research it online. Also bunnies only stay in their tiny nests for a very short time. These bunnies are at youngest a few months old. They need more exercise. I just hope she lets them out to run and play.
Meeka she dose I told you before hun.
Flame Nightingale190 literally stfu and stop talking to me
she said she was bred to her baby. speaking of zuzu.
Love your setup i breed rabbits two but i love your setup
How come some rabbits stay small? Is it because they are mini lops or because they have the dwarf gene?
They are Holland Lops, which are smaller than the American Mini Lops.
Love,
Your biggest fan!
What size is your shed? And how many holes do you fit in it? I'm looking into a building for my rabbits since we just moved and have to do things a bit differently. Loving your setup!
+Blue Jeans Rabbitry it's 10ft by 10ft and will snugly fit around 25 holes or more depending on how many you stack up
Cool! Thank you!
I would like to recommend at you to make a video how you clean nestbox
I have a fuzzy holland lop and a holland lop and I have been giving them rice pops as treat just found out they may not be safe is it OK or do I need to STOP giving them the rice pops
+Amy Stovall what are rice pops? They sound like something they shouldn't eat
They sold at the pet store i finally got a answer from my vet they are a junk food for rabbits and only to be given as a treat once a week at the most i have my now ,but thank you for getting back to me
That’s a lot more rabbits than I have! I’ve only got 15 right now. Just had another litter!
How do you deal with a spraying buck you use for breeding?
Put him on the bottom row, try to seclude him. It's really not fixable though unless he's alone.
If I lived closer to you I would buy one of the babies
Yes I aked her
All about animals 1 I would take them all and give them better homes
You definitely should get a block or tile so they can rest their feet on.
Thanks,
Rhema Johnson
You have wire for flooring isn't that bad
Melanie Nash from everything i’ve researched. it’s all been a big no for wire cages their feet are too sensitive
Wire is fine. That’s all I have to say
For holland lops it is fine as they have a lot of fur protecting their back hocks.
Hannah Remington ummm it’s not how would you know it actually causes really bad blisters on the feet
What exactly is a leg
Hello I was just wondering if my doe is pregnant. I breed her to a 10 month old buck 33 days ago. Should I renewed her she hasn't had any babies and she is really energetic. The doe is a little over a year. Is that too old?
+Ebony&Me after a year they are harder to get pregnant and it's harder for them to have live babies.
Holly's Hollands Rabbitry thank you so much should I rebreed her or is it too risky
+Ebony&Me personally I wouldn't
okie dokie thank you!
They are really cute
When r u uploading its been more then a week I love your videos
+Becstar 100 when I have the time to film and edit! Life has been crazy lately. Maybe I'll do a video sometime (after pt 2 of course) explaining the busyness and what I've been up to.
Ok thx wow u responded fast love your channel
what is the youngest age to be handling a baby rabbit? (my bunny is pregnant)
Pixel Gaming From my experience with Hollands and domestic rabbits in general, they can be handled within the first couple days.
Pixel Gaming they can be handled straight away
What do you do in the winter to keep them warm
+The one and only corey santmyer nothing. Babies without fur I will sometime bring inside at night time but besides that, they don't need anything extrq
Holly's Hollands Rabbitry ohh thank you I'm thinking of starting my own rabbitry
It’s during summer you have to worry about
They are all so cute xx
id wish id had the chance to visit you and meet your rabbits :)
do you get any transfer of ownership papers on pedigree bunnies
Nope the pedigree just goes with the rabbit. Some people write the new owners name but since a rabbit may be sold and transfer owners many times in it's life, I don't bother
Rabbits don't belong in small wire bottom cages
did anyone else at first think tucker looked like something else?...
i was like...why would she call her bunny fucker? oh wait it kinda makes sense tho XD
You should consider getting some Lion head rabbits there small sweet and great for show
Nah I don't like long fur and I'm allergic
When you were talking about Zulu. Is it normal for rabbits to eat their dead offspring?
Zuzu sorry
+Mae Hodges no not normal for domesticated rabbits, rabbits in the wild do it though
Mae Hodges yes sad but yes
im glad that your brother is getting interested in owning a rabbit and showing at rabbit shows :)
could you make a video on teaching your babies to pose?
+J Skinner I have before already, and all the the tips and ideas are the same ones I have now. Just search posing baby Holland Lops on UA-cam and it should come up
okay thanks
Those cages are way to small no matter how much you take them out you need a bigger cage.
cant stop playing 13:57 lol. your bunnies are beautiful!!! is there such thing as a tricolor holland lop? i raise tricolor, harlequin, and lilac otter mini rex and my first litters are due feb 19 and 25
I’ve seen hollands in tri before but not often
Definitely a question for the holland people 🥰
Personally I raise Rex
@@WoodlandHomestead2022 I actually have a tricolor Holland lop now 😁
Ok first off, those cages are WAY to small for a rabbit. And second, they can get sick fron staying in tiny places like that. And third, your best bet is to just free roam them in there, or get an x pen and then seperate them however you want. Hopefully you didn't take any affence by this comment. Because if you did, I didn't mean any harm to your feelings.
If you don't want the x pen, you can try N.I.C. grids, or...something like that.
She no longer breeds rabbits lmao
Do u live in new Zealand
Lovely bunnys
Poor rabbits 😭 it’s makes me cry looking at the the way she treats them rabbits are supposed to be loved not stuck in a tiny cage with wire bottoms poor little guys I hope she can change.
Wire bottoms only affect rabbits when the wire is too big, 1/2" x 1/2" to 1/2" x 1" Wire seems pretty normal and humane to me. The only issue here is that the cage could be a little bigger, 36"Wx30"Dx18"H is a perfect size cage. She's doing an excellent job the way she takes care of her hollands.
Leonardo Zollicoffer it’s wrong keeping a rabbit In a cage 1/4 to small for ah hamster
@@jaydenspets1048 I know, which is why you see I edited my comment, my auto correct did the that, I didn't realize until I posted it, lol sorry :)
@Evelina so please tell me what's so inhumane about keeping a rabbit in a cage?
Evelina they have trays underneath all the cages to catch urine and droppings which are emptied every day so that they're not filling up and making her shed smell like pneumonia
Cages are to small and they shouldn’t have wire bottoms
I will agree on the size of the cage but the wire floor is only going to hurt them if it's not half inch by half inch to half inch x one inch.
Where do you get your cages from?
Buns belong in enclosures not cages!
Rebecca Walpuski Enclosures and cages are the smaller things
Rabbits should be inside not outside in tiny wired cages
What are her cage sizes?.
Don’t use those plz they need more space and a water bowl not bottle
Never make a rabbit walk on a wire floor.
It looks like Clementine is producing some awfully long ears, and it seems like that might be a fault to work on with your whole herd (Otis will help a lot though, I love the head on him).
+James White there are bigger faults I'm currently working on, ears are easy to fix :)
buttercup could pass as clementine's twin
You should not put your rabbits on wire flooring as it can damage them for a short time it is ok but if they are there for a long time it will damage their feet
You are such a bad rabit ouner 1 rabits shud not be on whire bodemd cages thir gona get sore hallks wich is Rilly painful for them 2 rabits shud hawe at least a 4 bie 4 pen not that horrible small ting 3 rabits shud hawe a water boull! !!! Not a water bottle 4 rabits shud hawe unlimeted grass hay
Your a fucken troll. The cages are fine many people use wire cages to raise rabbits in . You can buy them right n tractor supply. Her set up is fine. Stop trying to make a problem because there isn’t one!!
I've had a rabbit for a couple of years and am soon getting two more for breeding purposes. This will be my first time breeding and I watched your videos on that, but was wondering if you had any tips you hadn't mentions in that video. Also what type of hay do you use??? I've been looking for a different brand as I'm not sure if my rabbit likes the current one I'm using.
+Andrea Dubiel I use Timothy hay. All my best tips about rabbit breeding are on my website www.hollyshollands.weebly.com
+Andrea Dubiel click on "bunny care"
Enclosures are small and some of them seen super lonely. I Feel should make them bigger and put them in pairs. And also I see no toys, Apple sticks or Any type of safe wood is good. My rabbit moved Apple sticks and I have a tree right in front of my house
I just got a new bunny on my channel!
are u a breeder?
Yes
Do u live in new Zealand
No. I live in Everett WA USA
Oh ok I've been looking for a nice baby bunny like yours but I can't travel that far sadly
What does "leg" mean?
+sharmaine Hill it's a winning. The rabbit has to get first place out of at least 5 rabbits and at least 3 exhibitors in the class. 1st place or a higher placement can get a leg as long as those conditions are met.
Sweet rabbits but cages are too small and the rabbits need to get off wire floors.
I know you hear this a lot but get the rabbits bigger cages I feel so bad because they don't have a lot of room and you have wire bottoms they are pretty though
clem looks so content with y giving her lots of love :)
odies is just a youngster compared to holly;s other rabbits!!
Please please please give them different flooring because they’re going to get sore hawks and get them a bigger cage. You should not be a rabbit owner/breeder if you do not know how to handle them or care for them properly so please please please take care of them better, please
ima freakin queen And that’s the tea She’s been raising rabbits for 10+ years. She knows what she’s doing. The rabbits are fine
zuzu-"yum yum mom tastes good!"
