It’s hard to say… usually bowling unit will appeal hard if it’s close enough. Sometimes that luck has to turn on our batting side to continue scoring big.
I was in a situation where I was convinced that I was out LBW, but very low key appeal didn’t help the opposition
So true! Amazing how often the umpire will give it out if the team go up big!

Umpire was guessing. Unless you’re sure, benefit of doubt with the batsman imo
haha did you put one through that blokes missus or something? He was a little over excited to get you out in park cricket.
With the GoPro the audio from that acts as a type of stump mic and is clear to me that was a thuddy sound so a slight clip of the pad on the way through is the more likely result - the fielding unit are always going to go up on any sound especially early in the piece and the ump got it wrong sadly
We're only human and we do make mistakes though - just rotten luck end of the day
Well, I am not sure because there were two sounds but I think that might be the sound of the wicketkeeper's gloves or the bat hitting your pads 🤔🤔

It was not out man How did he gave you out. Poor decision from umpire. If DRS was there it would have help you to get not out.I think it hit pad that was the Sound it produced first
Not out. Paddy noise so I can see how he gave it out but ultimately 9/10 umpires aren’t giving that out. That was just luck

You did not hit that, i had one like this earlier in the Australian season where i was facing an leg spinner, he bowled a wrong un outside off stump and it turned back but i didn’t hit it my bat made contact with the clip on my pad making a woody sound. The umpire took like 10 seconds to actually put the finger up like your situation here, it shows that there is doubt you could see him looking around. It is pretty annoying but we do have to respect their decision
It’s a competitive game at the end of the day, think we’ve all had built up frustration against an opponent before, then a release from frustration comes out.
Whether it being a childish chirp or a silly send off at the end of the day, cricket has its ups and downs, decisions can be wrong in all areas.
The exposure to club cricket from Can You Cricket I think is very good, it gives insight into a multitude of things within club cricket.

Honestly the sound of the bat striking the ground was probably mistaken for the sound of bat on ball...unfair and very unsporting celebration.

Yeah its a shocker all round. The sound from the helmet camera sounds like bat on pad to me, the other angle looks nowhere near the ball. And what on earth is the umpire looking to square leg for on an off-side edge appeal. Then the celebration was way over the top. Well done keeping your calm... while in the middle at least!!
If the umpire was confident you were out, why did he look to square leg first? He doesn’t need anything from square leg if he’s sure you’re out.

The Sunday League is 40 overs. The Saturday league is 50 overs 👍

I wouldnt give you. I think you were out because of the appeal so the umpire thought you must of got something on it but it didnt look like you got anything. Also well done with staying calm even with that send off you received.

Hey I had a very similar dismissal recently exact same
If you didn't feel it you didn't edge it
When slowed down there was a clear gap between bat and ball, but in real speed it sounded like it hit something on the way through and I think the umps went off that, but it looks like the sound was the bat hitting the pad.
I don't umpire but I know why they appealed and I don't blame them for asking the question. Umpire should've done better but it's club cricket and these things happen. At least it wasn't a dodgy LBW shout.

Level one for keeper, tend to think most umpires know straightaway if nicked behind, he took too long deciding therefore he had doubt.

I don’t play cricket but I enjoy watching your channel. Why don’t you talk to the umpire and appeal you side. Like I would be absolutely raging and giving it to that umpire. Why don’t you talk to him if your not happy with your decision.
Generally the umpires decision is final and there's an unwritten rule that batsman should accept his/her decision irrespective whether a mistake has been made. 👍
Ah ok fair enough. Thinking about it now it could be very repetitive if every batsmen argued every time they were out.

One thing is for sure, the umpire also did not hear a nick. His delayed 'finger' was a result of the strength of the appeal

Sorry man but that was hard to say even with a go pro on. Noise was soft as in something on pad than a crisp sound of a bat edge. From the range the umpire was away and limited sound that was given out that was a harsh call. As a bowler you are always out and a batsman you never hit it. Chalk it up to a bad day and wait for one that you get away with.

@canyoucricket I think the strong appeal was part of the decision but also you followed the ball as it went to the keeper in this case most likely out of confusion but usually it's a subconconcious action by someone who's edged it. On second review on the intial action the umpire is completely unreactive and then he looks to his right at those appealing just before the cut.
That's hard luck but i guarantee the umpire will feel worse giving you out if he saw this footage. Cream the opposition for us next time you play please 🙏

Looks like some nice weather up there for this time of year mate. Plus I don't think you were out, I played it back slow a bunch of times and cant hear anything on the bat but its really hard to tell.
I have grown to dislike many teams wicket celebrations these days. Very in your face / passive aggressive. Be happy you got a wicket, of course, but it seems almost rude now.
