  • This piece isn’t very polished, so I may post a better version of this song in the future. Anyways though, this piece is so pretty and I couldn’t wait to share it :). I was inspired to play this after watching Raymond’s cover of this song which he extended and I absolutely love it. Ill leave the link to his video, definitely go watch it because he did it way better than me.

    I miss playing piano so much. Piano was always something I’ve hated because of how much it frustrated me and I’ve always correlated piano with uncomfortable memories.
    But hearing your playing moved me to tears. Yes, the song is gorgeous but it made me think back to the blissful moments where I was in my own world on that piano bench. I don’t think I hated it, I resented it because I thought that piano was proof that I could never be good enough to earn my place on such a beautiful instrument.
    Thank you for the cover it was beautiful :)

      I thought I was the only one! I used to love the piano as a kid, but over time, I began to hate it because people would shun me for messing up. This ended up discouraging me from practicing, and I got worse, more shunning, and the cycle continued. Nobody ever told me that messing up was okay. Even more, I would mess up in front of crowds at recitals. Though they'd applaud, I nonetheless further internalized the silent judging from them.
      But recently, I had a friend, who loved the piano and was a beginner, tell me for the first time that making mistakes was perfectly normal and that it simply meant I wasn't done learning. He advised that I try viewing messing up as a means to improve, rather than total failure on my abilities. Since then, I've gone back to the piano and tried to find the love I had for the instrument from long ago. But, I doubt I will be performing in front of a group of people any time soon, as the weight of my past trauma is just too great for me to handle.

    POV: you're sitting in bed, it's 3 AM and the only noise in the entire house is the whirring of the overhead fan and the ticking of the clock on your bedside table. It's too late to be awake, but opening youtube recommendations was a gamble you were willing to take around 9 PM earlier that night, when it seemed like a good idea. It's gotten to that point most people reach at this time of night, where every video title seems a little more bleak, and a little less intriguing. Nothing is catching your eye as you scroll aimlessly, and you're considering just going to bed for the night. Just before you decide to log off, you see a video title that's just interesting enough to keep you awake a little longer.
    "what falling in love feels like | piano cover"
    Upon clicking the video, you notice, right off the bat, that this song is familiar. You think, "I'm sure I heard this song in about 13 tiktoks in a row..." but something keeps you from clicking off. Maybe it's the way the background noise blends beautifully into the soul of the piece. Maybe it's the way each note seems to be meticulously placed by the pianist, who, you notice, has the most delicate hands you've ever seen. Maybe it's the way the piece seems as though it took the humanity of the world and spun it into a beautiful story. You can't help but notice how everything you feel seems a little bit less crazy than it did before.
    Then, you fall asleep.
    Because it's 3 AM, and you have school in the morning.
    You dumbass.

    This popped up in my recommended and just fell in love with your work. Very elegant style, and don't worry about the minor imperfections. As others have commented, they contribute to the raw vibe of the whole piece and are just a part of playing music. Haven't seen you upload in a bit, but keep up the good work!

    • @alinasimpsonpiano
      @alinasimpsonpiano  3 роки тому +75

      I’m definitely not the best person to ask this haha, to be completely honest I don’t really pay attention to how I pedal it, my foot kinda has a mind of it’s own. If there are parts I feel could be pulled and lingered out more I may hold the pedal for longer, but if it starts sounding too chain-y I’ll lift it up. I’d say I’m pretty delicate with it on this song and theres not really a moment I’m not using the pedal. I’d just say be delicate with your pedal and not think about it too much because no ones gonna really be paying attention to when you lift your foot. I hope this helps hahah
