Civic sense is responsible for garbage, honing etc things not how cities are planned and if roads have proper markings, if half the road is occupied and so much traffic and you have to honk. I am a civil engineer with interest in urban planning but I don't see any good paying jobs in this field in India, so why would people even bother about these things.

I visited Surat about five years ago. It was an amazing experience. The streets were extremely crowded, and there were cows wandering around on the streets. I was so excited to see people dancing until the early hours of the morning. Anyway, although the sanitation needs to be improved, India is a vibrant and incredible country. I'm looking forward to my next trip to India. Love from China!
One of the biggest reasons that blocks the allowance for growth is the high restrictions on FSI. which limits the number and height of skyscrapers in India. and cities tend to get so overcrowded which leaves expensive accomodation, dense traffic and unease for skilled to people to work there. While most of the asian countries have FSI like 15, 18, 25. India has only 1.5 in most of the States.

While I don't agree that fancy projects like skyscrapers are indicative of better urban planning or an advanced society, I 100% agree with everything else mentioned in this video. As an IITIAN who later pivoted to digital design, I was quick to see how our cities lagged behind in those regards. So far, I've seen Bangalore residents have the most will to engage with these crucial topics but that willingness is not absent in most other places. I wish urban planning was a more lucrative field in terms of both money and the ability to create an impact without the stupid roadblocks put in place by our bureaucrats and other corrupt officials.

Suppose there is lane 5 meters wide & 200 meters long and both side of the lane we have building with FSI of 5. Let's say we have 20 building on each side with 5 floors & 4 2-BHK flats on each on those floors. In every flat, 4 people are living. so total flats we have => 2 (side of the lane) * 20 * 5 (Floor.FSI) * 4 (Flats) = 800 And total people in this lane is 3200. Now if we increase the FSI from 5 to 10. Total people living in this lane would double from 3200 to 6400. Wouldn't this cause traffic issues in that particular lane? Due to more vechiles? I understand how increase FSI would give us more land. However, I want to know if there are disadvantage if we double our FSI and if yes, how can we prevent them? Yes, traffic increases drastically - this is happening in Mumbai. For this reason, the roads also need to be planned as wider as possible. FSI shouldn't be increased suddenly

I visited Surat about five years ago. It was an amazing experience. The streets were extremely crowded, and there were cows wandering around on the streets. I was so excited to see people dancing until the early hours of the morning. Anyway, although the sanitation needs to be improved, India is a vibrant and incredible country. One of the biggest reasons that blocks the allowance for growth is the high restrictions on FSI. which limits the number and height of skyscrapers in India. and cities tend to get so overcrowded which leaves expensive accomodation, dense traffic and unease for skilled to people to work there. While I don't agree that fancy projects like skyscrapers are indicative of better urban planning or an advanced society, I 100% agree with everything else mentioned in this video. As an IITIAN who later pivoted to digital design, I was quick to see how our cities lagged behind in those regards. So far, I've seen Bangalore residents have the most will to engage with these crucial topics but that willingness is not absent in most other places. I wish urban planning was a more lucrative field in terms of both money and the ability to create an impact without the stupid roadblocks put in place by our bureaucrats and other corrupt officials.

Suppose there is lane 5 meters wide & 200 meters long and both side of the lane we have building with FSI of 5.
Let's say we have 20 building on each side with 5 floors & 4 2-BHK flats on each on those floors.
In every flat, 4 people are living.
so total flats we have => 2 (side of the lane) * 20 * 5 (Floor.FSI) * 4 (Flats) = 800
And total people in this lane is 3200.
Now if we increase the FSI from 5 to 10.
Total people living in this lane would double from 3200 to 6400.
Wouldn't this cause traffic issues in that particular lane? Due to more vechiles?
I understand how increase FSI would give us more land. However, I want to know if there are disadvantage if we double our FSI and if yes, how can we prevent them?

Yes, traffic increases drastically - this is happening in Mumbai. For this reason, the roads also need to be planned as wider as possible. FSI shouldn't be increased suddenly
