I love how you made the founders fit with history. Instead of standing apart from society and be unaffected by the greater world, all these characters are deeply emeshed in the 18th century. They have to deal with witch hunts and get involved the enthusiasm of the Enlightement. They know and respect the scholars of the time and are affected by or involved in religion, universities, slave trade and war. Awsome work.
Kaimere literally just being considered the fairie realm makes a ton of sense, and I love how you’ve integrated various historical events and legends into this project!
Kaimere being the Fae Realm makes so much sense! I don't know how I didn't see that before with Kaimerans having sylvian ears. The history of The Assembly is so fascinating! I can only imagine that in the modern day, it's not merely fearful fanatics that they have to worry about. The existence of Kaimere and magic would certainly draw the attention of many corporations or governments that would view this world and its people as threats or resources to exploit. Only time will tell how their discovery will turn out. I can't wait to see the next episode on their contact with Kaimere!
1:47 this is basically the A retired pirate, Victorian gentleman, cowboy and discraced samurai walk into a bar thing. Great video I always wondered what the human side of kaimere.
Kaimerean Human Cultures beyond the known world is beatiful idea for your magical Speculative evolution ❤❤❤❤ Let's start semi-slowly leave Biota, more characters of this project are coming.....
This is such a nice video. Asking question about human nature in the context of Kaimere and the assembly is fascinating. With the election, I continually ask myself consider if humanity as a whole is ultimately capable of anything but greed, conquest and tribalism, and I personally don’t fault the Kaimerans or Assembly for thinking the answer is “no”.
1) Awesome ! Just Awesome ! 100/10 We get both a very explicative and understandable resume about the Assembly, it's creation, the way it managed to discover and get contact with Kaimere, the start of the cooperation between this organisation and the Kaimeran society, its originals founders and early members, their issues and relationship with all the importants societal issues and problems of the time back around 4 centuries ago... While also getting a sort of free tales of Kaimere story in the same manner of "Ballad of Ka'Hai" and the upcoming "Saga of Baru and Tenir'Ha" ! 2) Also, it made sense that the Assembly would name and refer to kaimeran and most of the others creatures, especially the derived and seemingly magical ones, with names from our Earth's folklores, legends and mythologies. Given the founders and most of the Assembly members doing research on Kaimere lived within the 3 centuries before the 1900's before Science even became a real thing, and where everyone on Earth still believed blindly in Gods, magic and magical beings as it was already the case since Antiquity and Medieval/Feudal Ages. They obviousely thought for a quite a good time that the creatures from Earth's mythologies would be just representatives of the ones of Kaimere which get lost on Earth in a way or another. Or thinking Kaimeran mythical creatures (such the Kaimeran Unicorn for example), being relatives of the Earth's ones and the Earth's one have just gotten extincts. So, even if today, way after the Assembly must have get finally that every mythical creatures from Earth's folklores we're all just made up stuff which never existed (aside some from homuncilies sighting), the modern members would understandable still follow this outdated but neutral and fun tradition XD 3) Made sense too that Kaimeran are both reffered as Elves and Fairies at the same time. 1700's was WAY before modern people in popular medias decide to made clear distinctions between the differents small magical beings from most cultures folklores, to give the typical and ultrapresent nowadays depictions of Elves as just human with long pointed ears with huge lifespan and Fairies as small, mostly females human-like beings with insects or butterflies wings in their back, that is now the statu quo in pretty much all the Isekai genre stories. And this, the Isekai genre, haven't start to be truly a thing not until the middle 1900's, with Tolkien mainly, and all that is now usual depictions of given races in modern Isekai not made until the last decades of this century and start of the 2000's. Point in time where it obtained its current general form. Back before the middle 1900's to as back as the Antiquity, Fairies and Elves were just wastebasket and abusive terms people lazily used to refer to all magical beings of all worldwide culture (even so mostly in European one). It important to remember that, while Kaimere in its current form look and feel extremely modern Isekai-ish, like the others isekai story from the 2000's, in-universe at all, most of its presentation from the Assembly point of view wasn't inspired by said modern isekai but from the typical folklores back at its creation and previous centuries.
1. Thank you!! 2. Absolutely. Their naming of Kaimeran creatures after those of their own myth (with any changes they assumed being the result of a proverbial game of telephone) was quite logical given where they were coming from. It's not true and most similarities are merely coincidence, but even if they were wrong you can understand why they made the assumptions that they did. 3. Indeed, they were much more likely to associate Kaimerans with fairies and elves of British folklore than anything we know of modern fantasy.
Thomas Hartsfield, Major Peter Hartsfield, Joanna Hartsfield, Sergeant Declan O'Neill, Lord Phillipe Montgomery, Benjamin Strong, John Peabody. Wow! A magnificent seven of unlikely philosophers and magicians brought together to found something enlightening. They were on to something great. I would certainly love to be an Assembly member.
What do you think for my idea for a crossover between „worlds of kaimere“ and Star Trek, by the time Star Trek takes places, the assembly should have an idea where kaimere is in the galaxy, so when either Kirk or Picard (can use either, doesn’t matter) and their respective ship prepare to go explore in that region of the galaxy the assembly pulls some strings to have one of their members or Even better a witch on the enterprise and said person helps the crew make „first“ contact with kaimere, simultaneously revealing the assembly to the rest of humanity.😊
I love this series. When I first subscribed a little over a year ago I was really only here because of your spec evo content (which is excellent and still fascinates me obviously). I wasn't put off by the fantasy setting or anything, but I'd read enough fantasy works that seemed to just recycle the same tropes that I wasn't really interested in the genre anymore. Thanks to content like this, I've definitely come around. You've managed to build a world that is in many ways grounded and believable, but also utterly unique and filled with mystery. The glimpses you've given us into Kaimere's lore and what its people are up to have been absolutely tantalizing and I can't wait to see what the future of this project holds. I don't have enough money to sponsor videos, but if you dropped some merch I'd proudly wear my assembly seal t-shirt to class.
Damn I love this episode, and especially the political and moral conflict that you've put both The Assembly and Kaimere in. Personally even if they did reveal themselves to the wider world, I would not trust an organisation that is built on secrecy, and I'm sure many others would feel the same. How do you know they aren't holding even more back? How much power does a centuries old global organisation truly have? Could any of their secrets be dangerous to Earth? However on the other side, the longer they put off their exposure, the greater Earth's power and technology grows, and the more likely the organisation will be both discovered and cast out of a power they could never hope to match. Similar situation with the Kaimerans. Personally I view Kaimerans as almost mentally specialised, with long lifespans allowing for the collection of great knowledge and experience. However these may make them inflexible in their beliefs, view themselves as almost superior to others, and coupled with these former attributes and the comparatively high cost of every Kaimeran life in a dangerous world, not as experimental or curious as humans. This seems to make them fail to understand the human mindset and woefully unprepared to deal with the potential threat of Earth. Even their solution to possible discovery is just doing things they've tried before, i.e. closing the portal, not realising that humanity could figure out a way to forcefully reopen it or take the long way round within a Kaimeran's lifetime. Also is there any famous IRL historical figures that have any connection or membership to the Assembly in Kaimere's setting? And I remember your comments of rich and powerful families, so does that mean the Kennedy's, Clintons or Windsors have any connection lol
It is quite a difficult situation. Come out on their own terms and try to control the narrative? Wait and hope discovery doesn't antagonize them for their secrecy and power? As we will learn next week, there's another factor at play: thousands of Assembly members in Kaimere and Kaimere has made it clear that if discovered, the portal closes permanently and all peoples in Kaimere will effectively be held hostage. A pretty strong motivator. However, many think discovery is inevitable. Absolutely. Kaimerans are terrified of the prospect of human invasion. Have been for centuries and that fear only becomes more valid with each passing decade. The past few decades in particular have made them increasingly isolationist. Some even argue the portal should just be sealed and hope those on the Earth side aren't able to open it (with our tech advancement it's likely we could figure it out with a few years to decades of focused study). Generally speaking the Assembly like proximity to power, not actual power. Secretaries to generals and presidents, not the authorities themselves. Their rich families like the Strongs and Peabodys tend to be more discrete in their involvement than running for political office
I find it interesting the Assembly was founded very late in the history of the Earth and Kaimere (relatively speaking) as a 1700s Enlightenment Era Club/Think Tank and not the Feudal or Classical Era. Even though Kaimere seems quasi-stuck in the fuedal era (as most traditional fantasy settings are) due to the relatively small human population and the hostile terrain, climate, weather, flora, fungi, microorganisms, fauna, and megafauna. It's miraculous civilization can exist at all.
Kaimere's discovery by the public at large is not a matter of if, but when. Given how Kaimere is a planet, and how our technology in detecting exoplanets is ever increasing, it's only a matter of time until some deep-space telescope detects a star system with a planet orbiting it that has notable traces of biological inhabitants. Given a few more centuries, Kaimere could end up seeing a wave of Earth-humans arriving not from the portals, but from the sky...
I hate to draw comparisons, but this video is scratching a similar itch as stormlight archives right now, and now I'm hoping to see giant land crustaceans on Kaimere.
@TalesofKaimere a good place to start would be the accumulation, or rather degradation, of memories one would have over their prolonged lifetime while still having the cognitive hardware intended to be used for less than one century. Another could be the potential to lose control of one's internal biome of magic and unkempt tissue growth causing them to mutate or become a walking tumor.
You should have done a self-insert in the lore, something like Wizard Taylor being a former member of the assembly, but he discovers nefarious things in the assembly and leaks the files to everyone on Earth, that's why we have all these documents and such.
It may be that the Assembly decided that presenting Kaimere as a fantasy setting might be the easiest way to acclimate and introduce in a hopefully likable way
None on the roster. I have around 12 novels and 5 more anthologies planned in the past century before I go breaking the status quo. Eventually it is something I plan to explore but again, so much planned first I don't plan on rushing past
I like how the Kaimere-Earth relation is like Stargate SG-1 in fantasy version but in this case WE are the technologically advanced xenos that could potentially be a threat to the other world. The Assembly know's it may potentially happen but they still make the effort to try and keep things under the rug.
I just saw a post you made online and I have to ask, what do you have against japan?! Jokes aside it is wonderful to finally get some context about the founding of the assembly.
Absolutely, but it’s not real. Like there’s not a spell or practice that’s actually dark magic. No diagnosis for what constitutes dark magic, it’s all subjective.
Is there any plans or small ideas on making a non-canon story, on the events on what might happen if The Assembly reveal the world and secrets of Kaimere to the modern world of earth
Not in the immediate future. I have way too many stories I want to tell in this setting before I go upending the status quo. However, I do plan on exploring how this might go in like idk 20 years when I'm done with all my planned novels and whatnot
Would like to see Byzantines in Kaimere, please Keenan, make up a Byzantine character that got into Kaimere, if not then allow me to make up a fanfic of a Byzantine Explorer in Kaimere
You are free to make whatever fanfic you like! While there was no substantial contact between Earth and Kaimere in the era of the Byzantine Empire, there were certainly kaimerans keeping an eye on that substantial power, and plenty of witches, vampires, and shapeshifters in its citizenry
Ps. I promise i would not invade Kaimere, at least until a method for interstellar travel that doesn't involve turning me into a slurpy for microbe extraterrestrial life forms is discovered
I always wondered how Kaimeran scholars on "sabbaticals" on Earth managed to hide their elf ears. I wonder how Kaimerans like these have reacted to the popularity of fictional elfs. There had to be at least one Kaimeran who turned up at a LARP.
Most Kaimeran ear points are within the margin of error for humans. I knew a girl in high school who had pretty notable points. Long as they kept their hair down it would likely be fine
Yes more about the assembly.I honestly curious to see how the community see Philip and Joana's relationship because you know the time period. Honestly the assembly's secrecy plans make sense especially in this current enviroment. Also just wanna ask what did the asembly think of Rasputin. Did they really believe he was a wizard?
Him being Catholic was likely a bigger issue in the early 1700’s than having African heritage. To my understanding that wouldn’t be a major issue in America for another century but it likely was frowned upon in many circles. Joanna was a Quaker when the Anglican Church was at its peak so she clearly wasn’t super concerned with convention. As for Rasputin I’m not sure. Lot of directions I could go with that. Being a warlock or vampire could be fun either way. Or just a mundane charlatan but I don’t want to do that every time there’s a possible historical figure with enchantment
@@TalesofKaimere Also just a question? You seem to have problems with some art for the zentaur series. Might I volunteer like hinskie and help draw some scenes for it?

Something about Kaimere being the Fae realm makes too much sense. I wonder though, did Kaimere ever have something of a Dark Lord-type figure in their past? And if so, was this figure a Witch or Homunculus or some other terrifying being?
The first children aren't remembered very fondly by the various people they encountered. So you can say this was their dark lord period. That, or the age of demons.
Speaking of which, at 1 point you said that obligate sapient troodonts were once present in the Known World. Is that still the case. If so, when did they enter the Known World?
Their lives are quite long. Neat as long and sometimes just as long as Kaimerans if they inherit from their mother. No documented kids of this nature have been born of a human mother
A question I had for a while. Was the assembly ever under threat of being infiltrated by organisations like the CIA, the kgb and the SS? The funny mustache man and his goons had quite the fascination with the occult from what I know. Also: this gave such a world of darkness vibe.
That is a concern, which is partially why the Assembly takes initiative in infiltrating these organizations first. All three you listed had Assembly members (more as Assembly spies than genuine members)
@TalesofKaimere having to please the stuck ups from the free states, surviving the multiple beasts of kaimere, covering up deaths both intentional and not AND having to keep all this away from every spy angecy ever. Being a high ranking in the assembly must be stressful.
I don't wonder how reveal to Kaimere would change our world but do know one thing people are going to be well people. Some be angry that lot of things they once believe are wrong is not just creationist while others be over joy that magic, living dinosaurs, even aliens, and much more are real. After many decades Kaimere would be see same as other countries with unique wildlife and cultures just normal part of life. But do I have asked real important questions if Kaimeres do try close portal it's that even worst idea because let not forget portal is not a machine but a living thing a living thing that First Child the most powerful magic users ever try to control and now gone.
I would bet that the representatives of Kaimere on Earth are worried by the vast gap in technological prowess, when a more technologically advanced group meets a less advanced one it is basically always a disaster. The other problem is that if business learned of Kaimere I would find it hard to believe that Nestle and other similar businesses wouldn't commit atrocities for profit like always.
Their clothes seems similar "historically" to that what english aristocracy in 18th Century did kaimeran also imported clothes from our earth through history?,did in kaimere if that the year 1976 do some pepole wears bell bottoms like in earth "back in the day"
While much similarity to Earth fashion is convergent there was some exchange. Humans in Kaimere often adopt Kaimeran clothes/fashion and vice versa. Humans in Kaimere often have their fashion several decades behind Earth fashion because contact isn’t easy

Kaimerehead mode: Argentina mentioned. I am freaking out. Historian mode: Though it did not exist back then as it was still the viceroyalty of rio de la plata, and the process of national formation and identity was still a bit far. The use of the term is not wrong since it aludes to a present region and blah blah blah. Kaimeranhead mode again: I need were capybaras and were jaguars.
One has to wonder if beings with such power would go out of their way to make sure a population of humans wouldn't be as prone to violence. Or if a population living in a land filled to the brim with monstrous beasts would naturally undergo such behavioral modifications. 🤔
@TalesofKaimere yea, you kinda gotta hide your world when your weaponry is designed to subdue and not kill. Which is something I haven't really understood, jokes aside why do the kaimerians hide rather than just meeting their enemies head long in combat. You think a planetary defense force would at least have guns, bombs, and other modern weaponry considering the world is contemporary with ours. From what I can see it won't take but one person from off world, just one with enough ambition to exploit the very idealistic world of kaimere and conquer it. All the rubber weapons and magic won't stop someone with a gun.
"Yes, gentlemen, after much deliberation, I think we can all agree that dinosaurs are cool."

Likely but I don’t have any canon yet
@TalesofKaimere a good place to start would be the accumulation, or rather degradation, of memories one would have over their prolonged lifetime while still having the cognitive hardware intended to be used for less than one century.
Another could be the potential to lose control of one's internal biome of magic and unkempt tissue growth causing them to mutate or become a walking tumor.
You should have done a self-insert in the lore, something like Wizard Taylor being a former member of the assembly, but he discovers nefarious things in the assembly and leaks the files to everyone on Earth, that's why we have all these documents and such.
It may be that the Assembly decided that presenting Kaimere as a fantasy setting might be the easiest way to acclimate and introduce in a hopefully likable way
@TalesofKaimere this is a good move.
Assembly seal sticker when?
Should definitely be in the works! I hope to get something like it going once the new book comes out.
Do you have any plans on stories based on the reveal of magic to earth?
None on the roster. I have around 12 novels and 5 more anthologies planned in the past century before I go breaking the status quo. Eventually it is something I plan to explore but again, so much planned first I don't plan on rushing past
I like how the Kaimere-Earth relation is like Stargate SG-1 in fantasy version but in this case WE are the technologically advanced xenos that could potentially be a threat to the other world. The Assembly know's it may potentially happen but they still make the effort to try and keep things under the rug.
Absolutely. We're so much scarier than they are
I just saw a post you made online and I have to ask, what do you have against japan?! Jokes aside it is wonderful to finally get some context about the founding of the assembly.
haha at this point I gotta just commit to the bit as long as folks know it's not a real prejudice
Do the people of the great library know about the Internet?
Likely in the abstract yes
they’re cooked
Do they know about gojo
@@TalesofKaimerewhat would they think if they saw Skibidi Toilet?
Probably that mankind is doomed

*DAMN YOU WITCH-HUNTERS!!!!!!*
Ngl, the Wardens of Eden is a badass sounding name for a DnD party if it's entirely composed of Clerics and Paladins
Is there was something called dark magic in the planet of kaimere
@TalesofKaimere thank you! I'll present it once I'm done making a short story set in Justinian's reign ehemmm my reign...
I suspect that the is more of a ideological and/or political reason to proibiting the discovery of Kaimere to Earth beyond security and distrust
Ps. I promise i would not invade Kaimere, at least until a method for interstellar travel that doesn't involve turning me into a slurpy for microbe extraterrestrial life forms is discovered
Indeed. As I will discuss next week, there's a pretty significant factor preventing Assembly members from just presenting magic to the public
Third time asking; are seed ferns a part of Kaimere’s biosphere?
Sorry I don't know but probably!
@ Maybe in the far eastern end of Kairul or on the Permian continent.
Thank you.
@@shingtiong9425 Absolutely! Please send me an email at theillustratedmenagerie@gmail.com and I'll include you in a list of scenes needing art and you can take your pick! Won't be ready for a little while but having your email there will make it easier to coordinate
Indeed! There have been many formidable 'dark lord' type characters throughout the many ages
@@TalesofKaimere That would be awesome! I'm sure they left behind a trail of depravity and despair
I really want to see illustrations of "spells" and magic usage so i could visualize them better
I stylize a lot of my sketches since magic is often microscopic and therefore invisible. Often it just looks like things floating on their own.
Speaking of which, at 1 point you said that obligate sapient troodonts were once present in the Known World. Is that still the case. If so, when did they enter the Known World?
They were found throughout Ni’Khar and Kairul in the tyrant dynasty
if someone is half kiamerian and half humans do they still live as long or is their lifespan reduced compared to full kiamerians

"and a woman no less..."
*YE OLDE ENGLISH GASP!*
lol a noblewoman in a tavern upstairs with the men might have been quite a shock to her peers
@@TalesofKaimere yeah... indeed.
sheesh... something tells me that kaimae's people might have thought earth-folks qutie backwards.
But do I have asked real important questions if Kaimeres do try close portal it's that even worst idea because let not forget portal is not a machine but a living thing a living thing that First Child the most powerful magic users ever try to control and now gone.
yeah... yeah they should stay secret.
That’s definitely the consensus
I would bet that the representatives of Kaimere on Earth are worried by the vast gap in technological prowess, when a more technologically advanced group meets a less advanced one it is basically always a disaster. The other problem is that if business learned of Kaimere I would find it hard to believe that Nestle and other similar businesses wouldn't commit atrocities for profit like always.
Absolutely. I think we’ve more than justified Kaimere’s reluctance to
Is the nehamu still canon?
Yup!
What kind of powers do witches have?
A wide range! Element manipulation, telepathy, telekinesis, healing, etc

Yeah ain't all sunshine and rainbows at the Assembly founding
Kaimerehead mode: Argentina mentioned. I am freaking out.
Historian mode: Though it did not exist back then as it was still the viceroyalty of rio de la plata, and the process of national formation and identity was still a bit far. The use of the term is not wrong since it aludes to a present region and blah blah blah.
Kaimeranhead mode again: I need were capybaras and were jaguars.
Also it was an excellent episode by all means.
And I cant avoid thinking how the assembly would react to things as the russian revolution and WWII.
Fair call I should have prefaced ‘what is now Argentina’
@@TalesofKaimere inconsequential detail in the end. The meaning gets across.
I mean, Alys wasn't wrong.
For sure. Being humankind’s most formidable predator sounds cool for about half a second until you remember what we’ve done to our predators
@@TalesofKaimere Personally, I'd rather be a shapeshifter. Don't know what I'd be though, I relate to bears the most, but I live in Africa.
HOLY SHIT FOLKS
One has to wonder if beings with such power would go out of their way to make sure a population of humans wouldn't be as prone to violence. Or if a population living in a land filled to the brim with monstrous beasts would naturally undergo such behavioral modifications. 🤔
I wish to lay waste to the assembly and conquer kaimere, I will bring the tarnsmen of gor to dominate the idealistic cultures of kaimere.
lol this sentiment is definitely out there and has been cited as why kaimerans are so strict on oversight
