LilyPichu is a prime example of someone who's been infantilized and even harrassed just because her voice is very high pitched. And she's been a content creator for longer than Vtubing has been a thing. So it's just people on the internet being horrible, as usual.
The high pitch voice issue is one I relate to well. Even friends treat me way different than other friends because they put me on some weird pedestal of protection like some delicate flower. It gets annoying because they only take things at face value and are resistant to any indication that there's more depth to a person. (Pro tip: if you like a lady with a cute voice, treat her like a grown woman worth respecting and compliment her intelligence. NO ONE DOES THAT FOR US.)
I'd make a joke about "being treated as dumb" a you problem but u just wouldn't fathom its complexity Ps : sorry I added salt to wound, didn't mean to put butterflies on flowers
Geega has great emotional intelligence, and an ability to communicate that effectively while still being engaging and entertaining. That's waaaaaaaay more rare than people think. I'm guessing that I'm comfortably more than twice her age, but still find myself picking up gems that she drops
I've had so many issues with people making assumptions about me because of my Southern accent. I'm assumed to be uneducated or, even worse, racist just because of my voice. I got into a really good college in D.C. area and the first thing someone asked when I introduced myself at orientation was, "So, do you have family in the Klan?" The girl was dead serious. It was super awkward and off-putting.
fallenshadow has talked about how she literally can sound like a child and has caused people to be thrown off when she's come to the door for deliveries n' stuff.
Morning voice is def a thing.Your voice is deeper in the morning, or whenever your preferred wake up time is XD I love playing with it and making rumbly noises or attempting to sing
Everyone in Vshojo has a distinct voice, and I'm sure Haruka could do a fairly good imitation of everyone. Audio (voice, pitch, accent, microphone quality) is at least half the appeal to a stream over other kinds of content. You can listen to the stream, and not necessarily have to keep your eyes on it to understand what's going on. Where was say, watching subtitled anime/foreign films you have to keep your eyes glued to the screen or you will miss something. Where I find the pitch and accent comes in as a detriment is when you have a collab and two or more voices fall into the same F0 (think Gura and Mumei) that even their friends can't always tell.
I'd argue the opposite, it's not the niche between those 4, it's the bridge. You can fall into vtubing from any of them and find something you like, and it will make you interested in the others.
@@CSDragon Most creators and fans are already into all of them, and most people that aren't don't fall in, from what I've observed. Honestly I'd prefer the community stayed insulated.
The mike Tyson thing is REAL though. People have been infantilizing the guy over his voice and... Look, I am old enough to remember him BITING A DUDE'S EAR OFF. The dude is possibly the most violent and unbalanced guy to ever play sports at that level. He spent his early adulthood HANDING OUT CONCUSSIONS for a living. And "Aww, he's just like a widdle baby."
Im a man 5,6. I have a higher pitched voice from years of not talking/ the majority of my voice. It was stunted i think from not using it alot since no one liked me. When around friends i just talk normally, when around strangers or coworkers i deepen my voice alot and act more masculine. But at home i rarwly speak even to my parents and friends im just like well you chose to be in my life now youll see the real me and this is as good as it gets.
It's a small set of people who have this issue like me, but I don't act all that different around friends, family, and work. It's actually a problem, so the idea that someone acts differently in different situations has always been a bit weird for me to grasp. Obviously I understand that it happens, I get why, but I assume people are going to act like me. That's just how humans are. So yeah to some degree I assume that VTubers act sorta like cartoon characters in real life, because I'm a fuckin weirdo and go "Oh cool they're also weirdos".
It always blows my mind when people think streamers or vtubers are “hiding” their “real voice”… like, unless you’re CLEARLY portraying a character and are very performative during your streams, ain’t no way you’re gonna stream for 8 hours doing a voice. People think Ironmouse is faking her voice, that’s insane, she streams EVERY DAY all day, she takes very few breaks, that would be exhausting to keep up, her “real voice” would be completely destroyed.
not to counter argue, BUT , especially with no-cam/pngtuber/vtubers, the only "sense" to associate what kind of person he/she is based on "sound", aka voice, i.e. "that kind of voice I would assume they look like...." situation
"Not to counter argue, BUT nothing." There, fixed that for you. A lot of times when someone says something nice followed by "but", the sentence should've ended before the but. Might also want to consider why their looks matter. What is it about their looks that would influence you differently than if you accepted the person regardless of appearance. The primary communication method of sound/language doesn't tie into what someone's appearance is unless you are actively looking for some way to make connections and assumptions based on data you don't have, don't need, and just generally is pushing at the privacy of the streamer. (This happens with just about everyone, not just Vtubers.) Anyway, if you think you can tell how someone looks by their voice and a stack of assumptions, that's more a you problem. Yes this is a necro but it is one of the things that bothers the hell out of me. Accept what's being shared; accept what isn't being shared, and don't put people in category boxes based on assumptions of how they might look because... what? How does what they look like behind the camera (or no-cam, png, etc) have to do with it? Anyway, here's wonderwall....
I feel like it’s not just cute voices, but people are strange voices in general for example Jerma had a lot of people speculate he was faking his voice
She's not wrong about the voice thing happening outside of vtubers...but it also doesn't help that a lot of them have models that can be mistaken for children. Give Henya Matara's model and I think significantly less people would treat her like a child.
When people don't take you seriously you have to question if you should take them seriously. They're judging on such a surface level. Do you really want to take stock of someone like that?
I mean that sounds good on paper but you fundamentally are reliant upon interacting with others on a surface level in life. Interviews, employment, first impressions, etc. There’s what the world should be and interacting with the world as it is.
GEEGA, I like your voice, and the way you speak, I find it oddly reassuring, Maybe that's just Me? I do like VTubers with distinctive voices, Ironmouse, Henya and Melody for example. That probably says more about me, than it does about them, Ha Ha Ha.
But if they're smart about understanding their own quirk, people with voices and demeanor like that can exploit the hell out of it. Something about psychology and people letting their guard down. So it's probably not the worst thing once they know how to make it work for them.
This just comes down to how you present yourself. Like if I meet someone for the first time, and they act like a ahole. They are always going to be a ahole in my eyes. And its going to take alot of everything to change that opinion. It's not a full on 1 to 1 to what she is talking sbout, but I feel its under tha same umbrella of how people look at vtubers. Esp those that are putting on an act.
It's arguable that Mike Tyson may be the "bite someone's ear off" kind of guy because he was picked on for his voice. He might've lead a very difficult life that could've lead to him being more aggressive to offset that perception.
"Holy shit, anime girls are based on a real thing, and life is harder for them because they're that thing? They've got hobbies and jobs?? Scary shit, never leaving my basement."
One thing I don't understand about a lot of VTubers, but not all of them by a long shot, is why there is so much art of them that makes them look like actual children.
I think mannerisms and inflection matter more than tone. Ironmouse doesn't sound like a child. She sounds like a grown woman putting on a child's voice.
I feel like I'm the opposite. I hear a Vtuber with a high-pitch cutesy voice and I'm less inclined to watch them. For some reason I just always assume they're putting on the voice as an act (which, yeah, most of them do), and therefore feel less genuine to me. I just like normal ass women. You, Juniper, GirlDM. You're more relatable and "real" to me.

Isn't she like 33 now?
Geega is a sage dressed as a rogue.
Probably dual-classed, I’d imagine. Started as a sage, but later expanded into rogue.
This Vtuber sounds like a 6 feet tall Italian spreadsheet enjoyer
@Wratube she is, but she’s 4’10”
New lore: Geega is really Roubutte Guiliman from WH40k.

So, if Mike Tyson is known as Iron Mike; if Mousey became a boxer, would she be Iron Ironmouse?
Iron mouse would be iron iron
The Squeaker who ain't Meeker, The Latino Rodentino Supremo.
Mousey will spit fire when she’s angry.
Ironermouse
Iron Mickey
fallenshadow has talked about how she literally can sound like a child and has caused people to be thrown off when she's come to the door for deliveries n' stuff.
People sound different when they are happy then when they have a more neutral attitude.
It's a bit ironic given Snuffy's insecurities about her voice.
Her voice reveal is still in my top 3 favourite vtuber moments of all time. Very wholesome

The weird thing about V-Tubers is it's a marriage of the youtuber, streamer, idol, and weeb cultures. Talk about niche.
