    I must admit I bought some cheap make up and used it to see if it would work on paper. I used copy paper and it was quite a good outcome! I am now thinking I could use my watercolour pencils and touch up with the make up...The experimenting is endless and enjoyable plus branching out from what is being taught by awesome artist like yourself! Thank you

      I haven’t tried drawing...yet. I waited for my daughter to get out of school, then ran to pick up Tombow markers (portrait colors, because I’m not mixing every shade in acrylic, or gouache...😑...lol) but- we are going to give it a go, together! My art background is in “theatre” set design/building, and foam sculpting. I don’t usually paint faces, because actual people are the ones on stage, utilizing the set. I’ve always been intimidated about “drawing faces” on a 2D substrate, but, you simplified the “structural” process. So, I’m not as intimidated. Thank you for taking the time to do the whole video, & playing, & not editing out any mistakes. By watching you draw, & erase, & making minor adjustments to the framing of the face, one can learn the subtleties & nuances of the line formation, & how it effects the overall shape. I found that to be a hugely important detail. So, I did get a lot of this tutorial, & it made me chuckle out loud when you got to the “spider eyes”....🤣 I loved it!

      Ok, so I have to share!!! ....my 2 girls & I sat down to draw....oh my gosh....it took us an hour to get through the first 15 minutes of the video...🙃 we officially have a set of : 3 alien women with very angry eyebrows!!!! So stinkin funny, my eyes are leaking!!! 😂 Can’t wait to color them in tomorrow....🤭 we tried drawing hair, my older girl piped up- “can I have an eraser? There is too much hair traffic going on here....”. 🤣....PLEASE make a video for drawing hair....our aliens look like they haven’t washed their hair in a month...then they got caught in a downpour...😆😂🤣

    • @KarenCampbellArtist
      @KarenCampbellArtist  6 років тому +2

      AAAAaahhhhahahaha! You are too funny!!!! We all start with aliens, ITS ALL GOOD!! Plus, having fun IS THE BEST and MOST IMPORTANT part!!! Cuz if you guys aren't having fun then NO ONE is going to want to keep at it until they get it "right"...right?!?! So awesome work you guys!!! Keep it up! And YES to the hair video, it'll be posted next Friday!!

I am a Young Rembrandts Instructor. I have new schools and kids this year, so I'm mental. Your cool! Have fun. Just shoot me a email when you do. Ya, I did not realize my mailbox could get full. I thought it was unlimited so I never delete anything. Guess not. And I'm working on a tutorial for awesome art school. I'm going to go with your mixed media fashion theme so, you'll love it. And, that just gives me more time to execute it. So, ya, ok, bye! lol.

      Thank you, me too!!! Its such a hard balance on UA-cam because the average watch time and attention span of the average person is FIVE MINUTES!!!! So longer vids don't typically fair too well. It's a hard balance for me as well since I offer a gazillion paid courses, I have to differentiate between what my UA-cam audience gets and what my paid students get. But lots a times I just cannot quite HELP MYSELF cuz the project is just too good and I have to share it with the world! Enjoy!!!! And if you want a whole slew more of real time FREE videos I have a bucket load of them over at Awesomeartschool.com! Thanks for hanging out today! Thank you for your tutorials Karen. They are thoroughly enjoyable and it doesn't matter how long they are. The longer the better in my books. When you are learning something new its great that you are teaching from start to finish but slowly so you get what you are actually doing. Some of the tutorials on UA-cam (well to me anyhow) are way too fast and you don't learn anything. Keep up the good work. Its a shame I can't add my draw along with you. I enjoyed every single minute of this video :)
    I liked the twinkle on the eyebrows, but you are right is better without ...
    I really like the high cheekbones, and the shaded areas you've created to give more expression to her face.
    Can I have my shot? The neck is too much drammatic, but overall I find her very pretty!
    Good work Karen!

    What did you use to sketch with after the graphite? I noticed that the sketch marks didn’t dissolve or move as if the graphite had been left on the paper.

    I get so excited when you upload a new video. I am a new subscriber so I have to ask... can you do a video about how you got started doing art tutorials, books, and on UA-cam? I love your work!

    • @KarenCampbellArtist
      @KarenCampbellArtist  6 років тому +2

      OMGosh you're so cute!! Thank you for being here!! I can totally do a video on that although I may bore a few people, ha! I will say that to get started, simply START. Don't overthink it, just GO FOR IT. I'm going to do a series of videos on how to set up and film and edit though for artists, so stay tuned! And absolutely feel free to ask more questions when you think of them, it helps me formulate new video ideas and it's great to know what others are thinking too. I love that my channel is a two way street and I'm not just shouting out into a dark universe! lol! So if you have specific questions (even set up or equipment or editing questions,) let me know, okay?

      @@KarenCampbellArtist thank you for the response. Right now I am doing art as therapy and I am getting a lot of interest from people. My concern is that I don't want to turn it into work and lose the peace that it brings. You have such a great personality and energy when you create. I love it. Makes me think that I can share my art and still keep my peace. Thank you again for the response. I hope you do a video. I think if it encourages one person it would be worth it. ❤

    Hiya! I can NOT find the stibilo All anywhere! (Is the the name of it)?
    In answer to the hair tutorial....I just purchased awesome alcohol markers by Spectrum Noir. What do you think???

    • @KarenCampbellArtist
      @KarenCampbellArtist  4 роки тому

      I usually link all the supplies in the description box of the video! Here's an affiliate link (no extra cost to you!) to Stabilo All Pencil (waaaaay cheaper by the dozen) amzn.to/2IilOFI
      I love the Spectrum Noir markers, I think I have all of the sets!! lol! Just know they aren't waterbased like the tombows I"m using in this tutorial so when you add water to them, they're not going to move like these ones do!

    Would you be brave enough to let your students make the decision with what you use in a live tutorial? Make it up as we go along? You come up with options and experiment with ideas from your audience...I think you would be brill at this!
