  • This week I tackle a few odds and ends with the kiddie ride restoration. There's also a quick visit to a carnival grounds and the debut of an entirely new video segment showing off a Baby Eli Ferris wheel in need of rescuing.

    Been watching this and your organization and fabrication videos for a while and it finally hit home with the old ride that was near us in Fairfax, VA probably was setup when I was a kid at the Fairfax Fair or the nearby funfairs in Alexandria, Falls Church & Arlington! Keep on truckin!

      Not sure when you were a kid, but we did rescue that kiddie Ferris wheel in a later episode. Based on our research, it was originally setup in Baileys Crossroads at a place called Bernie’s Pony Rides. It closed sometime in the 70’s. Thanks for watching!

      @@PeteRondeau Baileys Crossroads area of Falls Church makes a lot of sense since my family is in Arlington. Since I was a wee lad in the 70s things are a bit fuzzy. Is there a site/group you go to for more ride history? We're huge ride & park fans. We actually run a seasonal vendor booth at Kings Dominion during Winterfest. Our oldest is heading to Disney for his dream job this January for full time employment. Just turned on the bell for up to date progress on the project(s) now that I'm all caught up. Have you said how big your shed workshop is ever? Don't think I heard that detail in your most popular fabrication video.

    Reach out to Knoebels. Maybe they will help rescue that Number 6 they can probably work the price down a bit. They specialize in rescuing badly gone rides and that would be a neat little add on for kiddy land.

      I've been to Alberta twice and both times it was in the dead of winter. The roads were just hallways between two walls of snow. Might be nice to see what it's like in better weather!

    And i'm not saying your work is only worth $5 but i'm a working man too.. As a collective.

    Mr. Rondeau Jeff Barry from Lebanon I thought you live near York also, I believe there’s a KOA and I don’t know if it’s still Lebanon County or Schuylkill county near Pine Grove I believe it’s called twin Grove Park. They restored a lot of antique rides and they started a small amusement park with in the campground. I’m not sure but I think they have one of these little number six Ferris wheels I hope I’m right because I don’t want to steer you wrong.

    So to correct just a small thing while eyerly aircraft co did manufacture the original spider ride the one it this video is produced by battech enterprises ... You can tell by the different tubs i believe they own the old eyerly patents and rights and are now bringing this classic back with some updates glad they brought this classic back to modern midways honestly hope this helps

    • @RideManDave
      @RideManDave Рік тому +2

      Battech is the successor company to Dartron, and bought ORI Industries, the successor to the successor of Eyerly Aircraft. The ride in this video doesn’t appear to be trailer mounted; it might not be a Black Widow, but a modified Spider…certainly with the new style tubs, possibly also with the new electric drive, but with the original Spider center and sweeps.
      Edit: it definitely has the Black Widow electric drive. You can tell by the push button controls.
      Dartron, incidentally, is the successor to the successor of Hrubetz. Frank Hrubetz was Lee Eyerly’s business partner until he started his own company, so by buying ORI, Battech has caused the corporate family tree to un-fork.
