Re Till vs mike...both Paul's and Richard's mikes are mounted on spring-loaded mike stands so they can be moved out of their way. Till has, as already been noted, no problem with self-harming - and his bandmates are well of that and keep a close eye on him. As for the fire masks, who doesn't want one?! lol If you watch the original video, you can see that the masks actually clear their faces by an inch or so, so they can continue to breathe and sing. I think the flames themselves are operated by foot switches. Have to wait another year to see them, but I'm still going to go when they hit Montreal!
As for who comes up with the pyro ideas it's a bit of a combination. In the early days back in 94-95, they would be very amateurish though impressive nonetheless. They'd literally pour lighter fluid round the stage and set it on fire. But after an accident in which a burning sign prop fell from above the stage into the crowd, Till went with a big professional special effects team FFP to handle their pyro and Till would train alongside them. They've been using FFP ever since. From an interview with the head of their effects team- Nicolai Sabottka “I usually present what’s new to the band during pre-production and let them get carried away with ideas,” he explains. “Then we make sure what can be achieved in a secure way and start testing shortly after.” And like a band practices for a large-scale tour, FFP’s facility in Berlin includes a full-scale rehearsal studio. “That makes things very convenient,” says Nicolai. “Every new stunt is very ambitious at the time we develop it. I’d say all the body burns, flames and pyrotechnics attached to performers are the most thrilling.”
As I once red, they had also someone at this concert with the accident, but it still went wrong, so Till decided it to do it in another way next time. So I think it was not the Band alone who built everything up, beside, at least from an actress/directing point of state I can tell, that you can not do everything on stage. Also we have to follow a health and safety guideline and they would have never let the band on the stage, if they would have done everything on their own. The previous concerts where often in clubs, so they did not say anything and just did it. 😉
Imagine being their creative person, and coming up with ideas; and you just know that however insane it is, Rammstein will just go "Das ist eine gute ide, lass uns es tun".
8:59 usually everyone of Rammstein comes up with the ideas to improve the stage performance. Here's a fun fact: It actually was Rammstein creating the word "Drakaris" to anounce the fire-breathing in the late 90s, long before J.R.R. Martin started to write his novels.
Flake wrote a book about Rammstein and their shows. And there he described, that Till used to "kill" a microphone on every show. Sometimes he had a more or less open wound for weeks. There is one live video where he bites into his finger for some reason and you could see immediately the blood running down his arm. This guy seems to have another relationship to pain than we other guys.

Unfortunately, Bo reacted to the wrong video. He watched the official video instead. So he got a bit of a whipping. Out of all their songs with official videos, for first time reactions, should only go for Ohne Dich, Keine Lust, Mein Herz Brennt (both versions) and Deutschland. For the rest go with the live version when applicable Auslander and Radio official videos are also better than the live versions, mostly due to live audio on those songs not being too good yet to do the songs justice. What about a female fronted band from Germany wich has stylistic influences from Korn, Slipknot and In This Moment? -> Null Positiv Their highly charismatic, energetic and powerful singer Elli Berlin has a large range from clean over harsh vocals up (or better down) to growls. Her voice is really unique in a very positive way. A band that is definitely worth to be reacted to 🤘 I love their power ballad „Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer“ (incl. English caption) which such an intense atmosphere. This year they are in the US with the crazy stadium tour. Might be your last chance to see Rammstein in America. The guys are nearly 60.
