3 Days Solo Bushcraft - Crafting a Wooden Pack Frame
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 вер 2019
- The temperature has finally dropped and Autumn is well on its way. I spend two nights alone in the wilderness of Alberta, Canada, with just a handful of items that I pack in a wool blanket bedroll.
During the trip I cook some delicious campfire meals, and make a wooden pack frame that I will now use as my main means of transporting gear.
If you have any questions please leave them below and I'll do my best to reply.
Thanks to all those who watch! I have more videos coming very soon.

There's so many channels now featuring this type of content, but this one really stands out.
You have rapidly become my favorite bushcrafter video channel. You don't portray a "character" as some do taking on some persona but are simply what you are; an individual dressed and outfitted in that simple fashion with what you need to get the most enjoyment with the least gear from your outing. People talk of "smoothing it" as opposed to "roughing it" and we can find multitudes of videos showing individuals carrying packs large enough to haul a VW car containing all the stuff to make them comfortable BUT you find the right terrain and create your comfort thru wise use of what you have or can forage. Your knowledge supplants the need to add more equipment and you exude a presence and calmness in your videos which not only attracts viewers to your videos but to perhaps do the same.
Most “bushcraft” youtubers I watch do not give this kind of laid back enjoyment in their videos. I appreciate the fact that you have a pure and amazing feel to your channel. You sir are doing an amazing job and us the audience can definitely see how much your time in the woods means to you. Keep up the amazing work and I wish you all the success in your ventures.
Travelling light in an innovative way and not going on about it - no talking is a massive plus v relaxing to watch
Something about the way you do your videos just hits the spot.
I like how you break the mold when it comes to outdoor youtubers. The majority of bushcrafters on youtube will use the latest and most expensive gear, but you show everyone you don't need all that to have a good time. Just a lotta know-how and some cooking skills.
I agree. The creativity was outstanding in this one.
Only a little bit too much cooking food. And that is a thing with all the outdoor youtubers, they show way too many cooking scenes. Like I know how a gasstove works and how bacon and chicken can be cooked in a pan... Booooorring! I rather like to see the "bushcrafter" forage the surroundings for food and bake that traditionally, no gasstove, that is for hikers.
But I do like, that this young man shows some nice tricks with carving wood and some purposes of it. Not many do that.
i guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb lost my password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Milo Maxim Instablaster :)
@Trevor Luciano I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Your videos are the very best I just love how old school you try and keep things
Each video of yours is a gem, You inspire people with a sense of what real bushcraft is all about (minus the huge 4x4 + quad and 2000 dollar carbon fibre canoe etc etc) Just the things you need to enjoy time in the outdoors. Thank you.
That sure looks like some good Chow. Chicken gravy over spuds. Never done it that way. I don't know why not. I do it with squirrels
ASMR = Awesome Survival Man Relaxing 😎
I hate the fact I can watch this with no words and only have an inner monolog with myself.

Yeah it would be the hardest part about being out there, after all the work is done you just sit and relax with your brain. Sad thing is it seems our brains nowadays never stop running at 100 mph, making it too hard to concentrate on concentrating on nothing
ty for share that beatiful video
I really enjoy the simple efficiency and peace of these films. As a UK resident, I always wonder about the bears though, do they ever become an issue when cooking food in camp like this?
This is the shit i live for
My bearded brutha...
You sir
Are a Genius
I love how creative he gets with his food
I love the silence and simplicity of these videos, they transport me to a simpler time.
I can't say enough how much I love watching these videos, this is an older one but man I would love to do this out in the Pacific northwest

Damn delicious!
What a treat to start my day with a new Kusk Bushcraft video. Thank you for sharing your adventures and demonstrating your skills.
I really liked this video. 👍 Your woodscraft is very good. I thought the choice of campsite was nice. Reminds me of how a hobo or traveller would be kitted out and travel. Well done.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I like the can opener. My wife said she would carry a can opener. She would expect me to carry a whole kitchen! LOL
I carry a p38 army issue on my key ring!!
Saw a wooden cup on another site just like yours! I can't wait for another episode.
This Man eats better than I do at home! Great video!
Nice new pack frame! Beautiful and peaceful time out in the woods.
Excellent video!!
from Japan.
That was amazing ...the things he cooked while being out there ..wow. good video ty.
I do not speak english, but even though there are no spoken words I think I understand all you're saying. And I like it. Well spoken.
The food looked awesome as always.😊
What a great trip! Good food, and you are hitting that sweet spot between skill/minimal gear, and having the tools and items to keep yourself comfortable, and your woods time enjoyable. The new pack frame looks great! A little carry time and fine tuning can make a frame that fits you like a glove and is super comfortable even on long or difficult hikes.
That's the life. It's simple enough that anyone can do it. I wouldn't bother to make a birch bark container:

bravo bro 👏
I love the hat, idk why but the hat sells this video for me
You give me hope for the generation behind me
Great video! Always enjoy this style of video, lots of skills shown, great food and beautiful scenery! Thanks for taking us along!
i love your silence man
Your a best bushcrafter ever 😘
You are very creative. U make things which aren't made by other bushcraft channels that i watch. (Wooden mug, smoking pipe, this pack frame) Since nowadays you are doing a more mediaeval kind of outlook. Like u have stopped carrying rucksack & instead pack your things like whatever that is. I suggest you may get animal skins, like reindeer skin or any other skin. That would add to your style. & Maybe a mediaeval bottle made of leather or antler or something else. That would be osum.
& Please make longer videos 🥺
Sound like a interesting idea!
Thank you so much for watching and for the ideas. I'll keep them in mind when planning future videos.
Take care and happy trails!
This might be my favorite video by you so far. LOVED the location. Camping next to running water is always relaxing and soothing. And once again the food looked amazing. Very well done.
Really like the style of these videos. I think not talking really adds to the feeling of being there in nature. Awesome videos! Look forward to seeing more from you.

another great Video sir. keep up the great work
Yumbo👊
Kool video as always! Great skills and cooking 👍
Good Man 👏👏
That water you cooked the potatoes in makes an excellent base for your gravy, in my experience. You seem to have many talents. One thing comes through in your videos: your meticulousness/attention to detail/strive towards excellence (I consider all those terms interrelated). That is something hard to instill in someone unless they already have a degree of it innately.
Awesome video Ryley! Thanks for sharing, your bushcrafting skills are off the charts! We need more 😂😁!
Your videos are so relaxing...
👍👍
I can't help but enjoy watching your cooking skills
Fantastic stuff.
Another great outing brother! Just got me an M39 pack for my trips! 👍🏼🍺🍺🍺
