Thank you!!
A voice of experience. Great advice video.
Oh! and um...James is an EXTREMELY lucky guy. 💓
i'm leaving for my shorter thru thatll take ~1 month, and still this video was invaluable.
This is such a great video! I think a lot like you do and am happy to see someone who has thought through all things! Just subscribed and am looking forward to following your PCT hike!
Super smart planner.
Thank you. Glad you are well (post AT).
Really good information nice detailed list!
Really nice list for those planning a TH or those considering one. Thank you Kelly! 😁
I'm excited that you will be back on trail soon and can't wait for your new trail videos !!! You stress some good points in this video. I love that you are organized and plan ahead on things. Not only are you cute and pretty but you are a smart girl too !!!
Well said! Thorough as always! Someone mentioned that you are glowing. I agree and you wear it well!
I can't wait for you to do the CDT!! I live in CO and would love to give you some trail magic!!
Sounds like you are doing some great planning. Can't wait for you to start. Stay well and be safe. Hike on.
This is some really great advice that we do not really think about.
Great check list! Thank you.
Call an allergist near the PCT, maybe a couple of different sections, and ask them what you might encounter.
Outstanding upload, so nicely explained. 👌
Hi Kelly. Very good preparation list. Minor point - you refer to your Garmin InReach Mini as a satellite "phone". I am pretty sure you know it is a two-way satellite "communicator" via text messaging to cell numbers or e-mail addresses? I have the Garmin InReach predecessor - the Delorme InReach Explorer. Even though it is an older version, it is still very handy communicating via text when I am hiking, backpacking, hunting or otherwise out of cell service. Been following your AT videos for quite a while. Will be following your PCT journey as well. I live vicariously through thru- hikers videos such as yours, Dixie's, Darwin's, Second Chance's and many others. Really nice seeing country I will never get to. I Did get to meet Darwin & wife, Second Chance & Little Bee and others at PCT Days a few years ago. Would be great to meet you too if I get there and you are there. You've got this! Happy hiking. Don from Oregon.
A perk of using CVS is that it’s easy to refill my meds when traveling in the US. Not exactly the same but this made me think of that.
Very good info! 🤙
If you don’t already, you should listen to the Bear Grease podcast on your hike. The host is Clay Newcomb and he’s from Mena, AR in the Ouachita Mtns. It’s a documentary style podcast every other week and a group discussion about the episode on the following week with his family and friends. He’s also a Christian and the content is clean and very interesting. It is loosely based on hunting, but more about being in the wilderness and the culture around that. Have a great walk. My family is praying for you from North Georgia.
No one ever goes over this stuff, good job for taking the time to do it.
Land Rover Discovery gah I love those vehicles!💕
I echo the comment about health ins how is that not nation wide! You poor people thats horrible!
I do believe you can pick up the Allegra-D when you’re near Nevada and the Tahoe area I was able to pick up Claritin-D at a Walgreens just south of Reno last year while visiting family it’s worth checking into
Hi Kelly, I don't know what kind of audio books you enjoy listening to but, if you're into crime solving/thriller type stories, I want to recommend a book by Ted Dekker called "The Bride Collecter." Ted Dekker is a Christian author who writes "Christian thrillers." I know, kind of an oxymoron...lol
Anyways, it's a really great book and it's read by the actor John Glover who does an AMAZING job at bringing the characters to life! I pray that you have a safe and amazing trip!🙏👍☀️
Did you get poison ivy on the AT? Did you see much poison ivy growing along the AT, and in particular, on the trail and in the camping areas? What about along water sources?
I didn’t get it on trail! It was dang near a miracle lol
Thanks Kelly
It is mind blowing that medical insurance purchased in the US does not cover you for medical needs nationwide.
I love cats. We have a long hair female.
Have you considered a cover for your van?
Eye prescriptions are good for 2 years from the time of eye exam.
I am due yearly but this may be different for different folks depending on your prescription
Good to know.
I had that MJ wingspan poster 35 years ago. Did you play in HS? 🏀
High school state champ and two years of D1 in college🏀
Just FYI some govt checks have expiration dates don’t let it run out
Tax return checks typically don’t expire for a year from the time issued so I’ve never had an issue
Health insurance in the U.S. is such a scam! It's crazy how much we pay for healthcare compared to other countries.
Taxes ✔️, Medication ✔️ , Health Insurance ✔️, Car Insurance ✔️, Student Loans ✔️, Memberships ✔️, James ❤️ , Hugs&Kisses for Parents 👍❤️👍, Yo Bank, I'm Thru-Hiking ✔️, Passwords to crypto millions✔️, Appointments ✔️..... so yeah, that's my little life hack
Lebron 🐐
I got your postcard..you incredibly sweet ..beautiful girl...can't wait for your PCT...
Sorry, I'm late. Green or Blue? Contact lenses lol
Huh? Lol
What’s the biggest thing leading up to a hike that you thought would be an issue whilst hiking that turned out to be no problem at all?
Before the AT I didn’t think I would have service much but ended up having it most of the time, at least enough to send out a text or call to check in with my family. I am not sure how it will be on the pct though
@@kellyhays23 I’m on the West Highland Way at the moment in Scotland and only lost service on The Devil’s Staircase today for a brief period. Thought I would be in the wilderness for days. The Devil’s staircase is only 968 metres and on the West Highland Way I have been easily able to FaceTime home for the last week or so but obviously PCT is on a different scale to the UK. Looking forward to your next thru-hike Kelly x
Wow that’s crazy!!! And super jealous! That hike is on my bucket list!! Hope you are having a fantastic time! 😊
@@kellyhays23 loving it and the weather for Scotland at this time of year has been outstanding, 18 degrees Celsius which is about 64 Fahrenheit. Below freezing in the tent at night but then it is the Highlands and btw see the sky at night! Wow!! The stars rise so high and drop all the way down to the horizon, stunning.
