- Jawa established in 1929 started selling its motorcycles in India under an Indian Company named Ideal Jawa based in Mysore which was established in 1960. The brandname was changed from Jawa to Yezdi in the year 1973 having a tagline"'Forever Bike, Forever Value". The production continued till 1996 until the company got shutdown.
This is a 1983 model and has an integrated gear shifter/kick-starter which was and still is a unique feature of this motorcycle. It’s a single cylinder dual silencer 250 CC machine. It has its meter wire connected to the rear wheel which is also different from all other motorcycles. The handlebar was an aftermarket one when I bought this motorcycle later to restore it back to the original handle which has Yokes attached to the handlebar itself. The carburetor comes from pacco with a tickler type choke. The ignition key of the motorcycle have 4 positions which includes switching on and off the headlights, speedometer lights, rear lights. The 4th position had one feature of starting the motorcycle through the current being generated by the battery in case the motorcycle fails to start from its armature as the motorcycle runs in point system.
I had bought this motorcycle in Feb, 2022 from a Gentleman in the condition as shown in this video. Our team comprising of MunnaBhai, RajaBhai, chrome Team, Painting Team and myself had worked on the motorcycle thoroughly to bring it back to its past glories.
At the time of buying I had the privilege to meet the former owner in person and I still remember the happiness I saw in his eyes when he came to know that I am buying the motorcycle to give it a new life. While restoring this beauty I had got the news of his sad demise and I repent that the kind soul parted before I could complete my promise made to him. I wish he had seen his beloved motorcycle in the condition it is in at present.
The motorcycle was lying unused for years when I had bought it and so we had to do all manual work on the Armature, clutch, carburetor, wiring, wheel hubs, handle, yokes, accelerator, odometer, meter cable, front and rear shock absorbers, wheel bearings, brakes, headlight, backlight, battery clamp, silencers and last but not the least the point settings for a genuine perfect Yezdi beat.
It’s a real task to arrange spares of a yezdi as it wasn’t available even when the motorcycle was in production line in its factory and so most of them have been reworked upon. I have been fortunate to get few spares from wellington, Kolkata and other places from sources of Munna Bhai and the rest such as original handlebar, brake and accelerator wires, front and rear complete light assembly, monograms, rubber kit, brake shoes, tank pads, etc had arranged from a Dealer in Mancherial City of Telanghana State.
Other than the manual work the exteriors and looks of the motorcycle has been worked completely. My mechanics MunnaBhai and RajaBhai, the body worker, the painter, the chroming team, the rim/spokes fitter have all done their work at 6 sigma levels. It is because of the effort given by them that it has been possible for me to attain the factory standards.
All the credit to this restoration goes specially to MunnaBhai and RajaBhai without whom this could never be a success. It was their past experience that was the USP of this project.

In fact I have learned driving bike in this Model, as far back in 1983.
My old man used to have one & I've a lot of memories riding at the back. This thing was very hard to start once it got rich...

Great job! My Yezdi was one of the first to be delivered when it was introduced. It had the 'Flower' head, same carb as on earlier Jawas and even the much sought after OE Czechoslovakian headlight bulb. Later I had the first Roadking (again with the flower head)in Cochin in 1977, brought all the way from Bombay.
My Dad use to ride yezdi in late 70’s. The sound… I still remember
My dad had one, 1981 model. I remember the 4th gear being so low that the vibrations were negligible till 100kmph, the integrated kick starter & gear was a joy to use. Wonderful restoration, congratulations, would love to see a roadking & a Yezdi/Jawa 350.being restored as well.

Hats off to Munna bhai and Danish bhai. I owned a Yezdi from 1933-95 and our Inamul bhai took care of the rest. But at 3:30 exhaust smoke , however broke my heart. Much as we would love to own these bikes but living in a different reality with current environmental norms given today's pollution ....well some "hasratein" remain unfullfilled only ...

At what price you brought
I had two one CLII 250cc and one original czechoslavak 350cc twin ....I had been to almost all remote locations of Gujarat and some locations of MP, Rajasthan on yezdi 250cc ..never had any issue even in flooded rains all one has to ensure fuel in tank was always in store as in those days pumps were less in remote areas. Rest tirelessly the yezdis will keep running ...and the stroke beats were always fun to cruise around on this 2 stroke bike.

thank you so much!! chain cover in yezdi becomes fatal at times... the reason hadn't installed. Was bout to get new tyres but they had been selling at more than double the rates in kolkata market. The reason thought of buying from a place where i can get at fair prices. Shall change it as and when i get.

Thank you so much for appreciating! 😊 The restoration took around a year as manual work took time... armature, suspension, clutch plate etc... Arranging spares took the most time. Rx135 will take lesser time as it does not have point system and all. There is waiting time for complete restoration. Say approximately 2-3 months.

bhai maine bike factory look wala banaya hai... chain cover hazards k liye nahi lagaya... agar tuta to spares milna mushkil hojayega... nail wala key is model mein nahi ata tha bhai... b type tak ata tha... buffing utna hi karaya jitna factory se by default ata tha... thank you for the valuable feedback

Why mahindra yezdi is not launching this model as it is with few modern features like 4stroke engine n disc break?
Instead of launching old flagship models they r launching weird models to compete with enfield and the end result is total failure.😢
